Vita "hacked," (PSP) homebrew on the way (not piracy)

I'm still waiting for third party memory cards. I have one for my psp and I'd really like a cheaper alternative for vita.

I just want to know if it's possible to emulate SNES and GBA on a Vita with this.

You can already do this with PSP mode hacks already. As for currently? The native Vita hacks are not going to be useful to anyone outside of exploit developers. Sony has the browser tied down pretty hard right now, so we have very limited access to the hardware. On top of that, there are no SDKs freely available to develop software for it, and especially not for what's limitedly available...

Right now we're mostly limited to proof of concepts and memory dumping.

I personally prefer qcma because for some reason my strike rate with successfully installing opencma is poor. Also, with qcma you'll be able to install vita apps or demos without requiring different account (real games are exempted).

I just installed it and I keep getting "No Vita Registered".

My only problem with QCMA is a media database which is being worked on. I just wish it held it longer than in volatile memory.

The hackers are making some interesting progress on the Vita. They've figured out a way now to install homebrew and PSP games as custom bubbles on the Vita's home screen, so they can be played without other exploits.

I really want this...

The fact that you have to start your exploit game, then go through a PSP menu, then load the game takes like at least 2 minutes.

Vita bubbles (or a small take on it) has been released.

This method requires you to sacrifice 1 game to 'transplant' onto, and this method is actually the 'weaker' version of the exploint. Expect a better version coming down the line that will allow you much greater flexibility and won't have you sacrifice a game you bought to create each button (IE, easier to make individual buttons for each homebrew/PSP game instead of having to go through TN-V or HBL)

Can someone please help me? I am so confused.
I am on 3.18. I already installed the exploit on my Vita using Talkman Tokyo and loaded up Ys Seven through the official CMA.
Now I finished Ys Seven and want to load up Fireteam Bravo 3.
I installed QCMA now for some reason (that seemed to be what the thread was telling me to do) but now cannot figure out where to put the Fireteam Bravo 3 iso in order for me to transfer it to my Vita. I can't get it to show up on the Vita Content Manager app.

Under my PS Vita folder I have the following:
APP
PGAME
PSAVEDATA
PSGAME
PSM
SYSTEM

FYI, in each of these folders, there is an alphanumeric folder that is named the same in each but other than that everything under PS Vita is empty (except for my iso file of course). Is that what the problem is?

You put it in the exploit folder/save-data. Under /iso

So it'll be:

pgame (or app, forgetting)/Talkman save folder/exploit savedata/PSP root folders here->ISO/Fireteambravo.iso

Wow I'm totally not following you with your directory directions... something is off on my end. I don't have that many levels...

Wow I'm totally not following you with your directory directions... something is off on my end. I don't have that many levels...

Cut off the first three.

Your save exploit folder IS your PSP tree structure basically.

So you put /iso in the "PSP root" folder like you would on an actual PSP memory stick.

Talkmanexploit/iso(PSP root folder with PSP/GAME/MUSIC/etc.)/firetreambravo.iso

OK, I think I'm following you know. You think it was PGAME as the first directory?

Wherever you put the exploit folder, yes. I forget as it's been a while. If you're unsure, move the exploit save back via the content manager (QCMA) and go rooting through the QCMA folders to find where it put the save file.

While you're at it, put the PSP FTP app in... PSP/GAME(S?)/ to where you can wirelessly FTP into your memory card if you have the exploit running with a simple ftp://ip.goes.here.okay command that the handheld will output the IP of so you can access the PSP "memory-stick" structure without going through QCMA/etc's folders-within-folders easier.

OK, let me try that. I've obviously done this before if I got Ys Seven on it but I stupidly deleted Ys Seven through the PSP emulator and should taken note of all the file structures, etc. first.... -_-

Ah yes it was all that ISO folder!
But WHY was the ISO folder not there when I tried to go through the process again this time? I certainly didn't delete it myself.
Anyway on the Vita CMA it is telling me the file is corrupt, which is weird... maybe I did a bad rip or something. I don't think this happened when I moved over Ys.

Thanks for your help, I think I'm on the right track now.

Edit: I shouldn't have to run the exploit again should I? I get error code C2-10981-9 when I try to do the transfer. I wonder what I am missing now.

Because the /iso folder has to be created manually AFAIK. It isn't a PSP-default tree folder for obvious reasons.

That or you changed exploit saves/didn't back up your save and got a new one for a new exploit/updated exploit. I can't tell you.

I dunno on that bit. You might need to clean the exploit file out and then redo the exploit and redo the PSP memorystick "tree" manually if the exploit doesn't create all the folders (besides /iso) for you manually.

If you're using QCMA, this may be a stupid question but: Did you turn off your wifi and turn on airplane mode? If not, go do that.

I'm doing this over USB. Also why exactly do I need QCMA if I already have official CMA? Should I just use official CMA?

Edit: And yes Wifi has been turned off since PSV FW went past 3.18.

*head-desk*

If you have the Official CMA still installed. UNINSTALL IT. RIGHT NOW. BAD PJE. BAD. *whaps with newspaper on nose*

"But why can't I--"

BECAUSE THAT'LL PHONE HOME TO SONY AND ASK FOR A FIRMWARE UPDATE IF YOU USE IT.

"So why use QCMA?"

SO YOU CAN STOP THAT!

"But I want wifi--"

*whap* Listen to me and don't have Wifi ON if you're using QCMA. If you're using the internet browser AFTER that you're fine.

"But I still have OffCMA inst--"

UNINSTALL THAT. REBOOT PC! If you need to, REINSTALL QCMA to make sure all traces of OffCMA is erased so QCMA is the only CMA on your system.

Rinse and repeat until QCMA (with airplane on the system ON) says it can find your system/transfer.

Once you're done, you're good. But again: INSTALL THE PSP FTP so you don't have to deal with this stuff outside of non-PSP titles.

OK, I'll uninstall it.

Edit: The thing is I was able to get Ys Seven onto the Vita just fine with official CMA. And I just checked and my unit is still on 3.18 so all is good.

Edit: OK, Official CMA now uninstalled from Windows. Now let me see if I can figure out the rest of this.

Right, but the Firmware has updated for Sony's CMA to where it won't let you transfer (AFAIK) your stuff without asking you to do a firmware update.

I can't remember the specific error code I got (if I remember it's similar to yours) which is a QCMA installed/CMA installed as well error. You want to rid the official one if you plan to continue to use the exploit so it doesn't attempt to install a firmware update on you without you knowing.

At the same time, if you want to avoid all this headache with the CMA's on using PSP/PSX titles in the PSP sandbox: Use PSPFTP. Then when in the PSP sandbox's XMB use that to get a wireless IP to FTP into.

You're right this is a big headache.
But I was like I was able to do this before so I should be able to do it again.
I did download the PSPFTP thing earlier tonight but that seemed like I needed to install something on my Vita whereas the CMA-type programs just need me to install stuff on Windows, which I feel is easier for me. Maybe I will look at it again though.

Holy crap I finally figured it out. Or at least 1 way to do it.
FTP proved too daunting so I went back to QCMA.
Basically I had to redownload the Talkman Travel Tokyo save folder/files and put the PSP game in there.... I had totally forgotten about that step. Then I had to overwrite the old Talkman Travel Tokyo as I moved things over via the VITA CMA...

What a nightmare. I wrote down some directions this time and emailed them to myself...

Are we going to be getting easy drag-and-drop firmware on VITA like we had/have on PSP? That would be a lot nicer. This CMA crap is for the birds and I don't want to mess around with FTP.

Not until we have some sort of native Vita hack... Right now, everything has to go into the exploited game folder because we have to convince the vita that whatever we send to it is actually part of a PSP game save before we can run it.

I think it's better to put up with FTP. Unless something has changed over the past year, transferring things through save files has the headache of making sure you always have double the space required before you install.

The trick to creating custom bubbles has now been outlined in the following video -

How to create a fake signed EBOOT - youtu.be/ZQoYLkjuXhE?a

Creating the custom bubble -

1) Copy the fake signed EBOOT.PBP file onto your PS Vita.
2) Verify that the file is copied to your Vita!
3) Rename the PSN games folder into "original name + &" (e.g. UCES00152 into UCES00152&)
4) Add a "original PSN game folder name" folder (e.g. UCES00152)
5) Copy the fake signed EBOOT.PBP file into the new folder
6) Shutdown the PS Vita.
7) Boot into the recovery mode (Keep "PS-button + R + Power button" pressed for a few seconds)
8) Rebuild databse.
9) Wait until the Vita rebooted into the main menu.
10) Check your game, it should now run the fake signed EBOOT.PBP instead of the original PSN game.

Awesome work. Two questions:

1. Custom bubbles surely will you get banned from PSN right? I know somebody in the scene said they got banned, possibly due to this. If we name our bubbles to show as official PSP games on the store, are we safe?
2. Does creating the bubble require VHBL or eCFW?

Great news, can't wait to try it out.

Seems neat, but if I understand the method correctly, you need to burn/use up a game on your Vita in order to get a custom bubble? i.e. in the linked video, I can't just use Go Sudoku! as the container for multiple games, I'd have to use a different game for each custom bubble I want to make?

This is only 3.18 and less right?

This is only 3.18 and less right?

Video shows it working on 3.35. I believe you do need VHBL or TN-V running on the Vita to create the bubbles (though not, apparently, to use them--good for if you upgrade from 3.18 TN-V to 3.35, but unlikely to work after the next Vita patch).

Hey guys, so got a Vita as a Christmas present, its a Gen 1 OLED, it comes with 3.15.

I have a few questions before I update the firmware.

From googling and the op, its not clear if I can install cfw on mine, I obviously don't have any of the games listed with exploits.

Is there anything I can do without those games? Somewhere to get them maybe?

And once I get cfw, can the firmware be updated to be able to access psn and ps4 remote play?

I'm honestly more interested in remote play and accessing my Ps + games than PSP home brew, just wondering if I can have both though.

Thanks guys

Hey you seem to know, what exactly can I do if I have a 3.15 Vita, that has never been online and doesn't have any of the exploit games?

afaik you should download the exploited game (weren't they all patched??) by PS3 then using QCMA from PC to Vita and then connecting Vita to your PS3 and you should be able to download the game

but don't do that until someone confirms the above statement

Cool so I can use the de sen website to buy any of the patched games, transfer it to my vita and then I can follow any of the guides right?

The Vita is not registered to any psn account though, would that be a problem?

Shouldn't be. Just login with the account that you're going to use the exploit with via wifi. It'll login and authenticate while checking for a firmware update. When it prompts you to update the firmware, decline. The PSN account should be registered on the system.

That's great thanks, one last question, once I have CFW, can I update to the latest official FW to be able to use Remote Play and PS+? Or can I use those in the latest CFW?

DO NOT USE DO THESE IF YOU PLAN TO USE REMOTE PLAY OR PLAYSTATION RENTAL SERVICE.

You lose access to those if you are going to use the PSP sandbox and stay on a lower firmware. You must update to the higher firmware to use those functions, which means you either:

-Stay on a lower firmware and lose access to PSN

or:

-Stay current and lose the exploit(s) that lower firmwares have.

Your choice. Choose wisely.

Oh man hard choice, thank you so much for all the info.
