Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

Well at the rate they're giving us good stuff via PSN, I may go full digital + psn.

I'm torn though, I can't resell anything when going Full D, but the ease of use may trump my need for physical media. The Vita really is a great argument for full digital, if only their freaking memory wasn't absurdly overpriced.

It's been said before, but it would be much easier to convince me to buy PSN games hand over fist if I didn't have to spend 90 freaking dollars to store them in any reasonable manner.
I'll stick with physical so I can know 15 years from now if my vita breaks and I need to replace it I will still be able to play my games because whether sony still supports the vita via PSN won't matter.

plus that way I can lend out games like persona 4 to my friends to get them hooked with out having to hand them my whole system. I've never found the step of swapping out a physical copy all that troubling. That being said though PS+ is doing a great job of getting me to get digital goods, things that outside of the PC and rock band DLC I rarely ever spend money on.

As i have said before though, memory card price aside, given the push for digital sales on the vita, it's a sad joke that the vita doesn't have on board room for games.

Its not better priced for everyone though. DD saves me about 20-30% of the price I'd need to pay on retail. German retail vs US DD is quite a difference in favor of DD.

if digital got me lots of savings I would be more tempted to use it. In general in the US going digital on anything but PC costs us more.

I was talking about the ps3 ones when I said I owned them all already... if you read up I am totally cool with getting the vita PS+ offerings, though if MK vita is really 3gb I will likely just get that one at retail instead as it's just to much room for a game I will likely pop in once a week to do a challenge tower or two.

the NA plus offerings are done on a weekly basis, done the day before the store updates. we will know what games we are getting for the 4th on monday the third.

Two of the vita ones are also PS3 games

It sucks to blind buy it (what the heck, SEGA?), but I get the feeling I'm going to be really happy with it.

Wrong part of the post I put it in.. I was referring to Surge. That trailer looks very, very fun. Give me leaderboards and I am game.

Just a few weeks ago, people were being annoyed at not releases in Dec, and now I am looking forward to:

Surge
Knytt Underground
UC: Fight for Fortune
Big Sky Infinite (if I get it for free, least interesting for me compared to the other ones.)
Sega All Star Racing

Anything I missed?

I am shocked that you're interested in a pretty looking puzzle game with leaderboard support. ;P

Well it looks different. I can totally get behind puzzle games that are a bit different. I still cant really stand Montezuma, so I dont have a puzzle game on my Vita yet.

Jezuz... I'm sure it's justified, but I had no idea the game was so roundly and unanimously vilified... I didn't buy BO:D because I don't really have any interest in on-line shooters (I'm old and my eyes are bad and my reflexes suck); basically, unless there's a substantial single player mode, the game has no appeal to me, so I had no idea that the game that was going to "save the Vita in the West" had been received so horribly. The critics really creamed it...

What about the US? Don't care about vanquish, just want AC if it's the GOTY which I doubt this will be, but Limbo sounds fun. I wanna maximize my ps+ month, so I will wait for a big game that I want to be "free" as long as infamous 2, lbp2, and uncharted GA are still featured...

Another thing, I asked this in another thread, when was the last big game for vita announced? By big I mean something like Bioshock or MGS HD? I guess Ratchet (if you count that as a big IP) when it was announced it was cross buy a couple of months back? It has seriously been a long, long time I think.

FuturLab's (Velocity, Coconut Dodge) new PSMobile game, Surge: http://www.futurlab.co.uk/surge-electrifying-match-3.html

No trophies, no buy :P

ah, well my point was still I would rather have stuff like nfl blitz over limbo/batmanAC/vanquish since I already own those and thus am hoping NA doesn't get those. I wouldn't mind at all having the vita games/ps3 games I don't have though :P

In general though I am just hoping NA's quality is near EU's. If I didn't own them batman and vanquish would be solid additions... despite saying I would rather have nfl blitz over those, I can't really say nfl blitz was a solid addition lol. In general though I prefer PSN releases over retail... the retail games tend to take up so much room @_@

US we won't know about until next week. We do know though that we are losing resident evil 5 gold from the ps3 instant game collection in NA though, all the others should be safe at least for next week.

as for a big game announced for the vita, well biggest one I can think of would be MLB the show 2013 being announced for a spring release next year, but regardless if you consider the show big... the announcement was about as shocking as it will be when they announce a call of duty to be released on the ps3/360 for next fall lol

on a different note... heck yeah finally got my first social link voices in my head scene in persona 4... only took 2 hours lol

Uncharted! Fight for Fortune! In december! Thats a big IP!

:p

Still REALLY looking forward to that, disregarding all haters out there!

I like card games, as long as it's well done I likely won't mind it. it will depend on how much you have to like the uncharted series to enjoy it, as so far I haven't managed to get into an uncharted game.

Yeah, I am not looking forward to the game based on the UC IP actually. I just want a really good card game with asynch mp :)

Next week even. Determined to platinum UGA before that arrives.

Aw, fuck me. No way I am getting through UC within a week :/ Guess I'll try to advance a bit once I finally manage to beat the last level in Sine Mora.

So as a new Vita owner, what free games/apps/etc should I be looking for on the Playstation store? I already grabbe the PS Plus offerings.

Fireworks! :) :)

LiXI7.jpg

There are a few other free AR apps, they are neat to toy around with, so feel free to dl and test them as well.

Frobisher says is also a nice little game you can get for free. Oh, also get Treasure Park.

I would love a culdcept game on the vita, I would also maybe have to double dip (PC and vita) if magic 2014 hits the vita next year lol

Oh god, that would be so ace. Was there anything announced/mentioned to that end? I mean they try to put it on every platform in existence anyway, but damn, that would be great.

if you are talking about magic, no 2014 isn't even announced, but given it came to the ipad last year I would at least hold out a little hope for a vita version. Even more so if sony drops the price of the vita next spring and it manages to take off like it should.

It'll be another 3 weeks yet before the rotation happens. And you only need to go through the checkout to claim them, you don;t need to download them if you don't want them yet.

Are you not of the PS+ master race?

If you only care about the save just save them to the cloud. The only reason to backup the entire file to your PC/MAC/PS3 is if downloading the game again at some point is going to take ages due to your connection.

Yes, PS+. Ok, so I can't backup saves to my computer, just game data and updates?

DECEMBER 11th

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed

Any footage of the PSVita version of this game yet?

if not(two week till release) then I guess we can say for sure it's will be a complete mess of a port.

You can backup the saves, I just don't think you can do them separately from the rest of the game data to a PC - which you can do to PS+.

SEGA aren't showing it, but there's quotes from SUMO within the last few pages that it's decent. Granted they would say that, but SUMO have always been good from my experience.

When you do a backup to your PC is does EVERYTHING. The game, the save, the updates. EVERYTHING. It means you still have the save, but you need to transfer the entire game back to get to it.

When you backup to the cloud via PS+ it only does the save game.

Van Winkle posted something along the lines of Sumo being proud of their Vira version, but they can't show it without the OK from Sega.

It was a quote from an interview or something.

Developers and publishers will not tell you that their port is trash(we learned this again this month with the new console release).

im actually kinda worried about ps+ and vita - now thinking about it, it's library is not big enough to keep supporting new free games.

so either itll slow down to a trickle in a few months or games will just keep rotating in and out. makes me not want to buy any software :(

not sure if i should begin my ps+ now or wait till i get home from trip on dec 12th. do you think the games will have been rotated by then? if so i'll start now.

I'll get a Vita next week, and I was reading about this procedure to use different region accounts in the same Vita >> http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=35455903&postcount=209

If I follow this procedure, what will I lose? I mean, only my settings, or anything more?

That procedure no longer works on current firmware; memory cards are locked to specific PSN accounts and cannot be used with another without reformatting it. You can still change regions by resetting system memory but you must either use separate memory cards for each account or be willing to restore from backup every time.

Anything not stored to memory card (network settings, bubble placements, Near history, etc.) will be lost every time.

That's my worry about PS+ as well. Not a big enough library. So you can't dig out dreck like Cash Guns Chaos.

Oh well, I guess we'll see a lot of PSX and PSP stuff too.

It at least has more features than the 3DS version. (Basically all the console version modes)

But yeah, proof is in the pudding.

I certainly wouldnt mind that.

Just finished getting the True End in 999. Holy shit that was amazingly awesome! It's been forever since I loved an ending so much.

While I had kinda guessed most of the twists, the way they orchestrated and planned every single detail is second to none, down to random little bits of seemingly pointless dialogue. So many little things just start fitting so perfectly. Sure it's not without it's flaws, but it's one of if not the most cleverly crafted narratives I've ever experienced in a game.

Absolutely loved the way they did that spin at the end where they tie the gameplay into the plot in such a meaningful way. It's so hard to do right but it came of brilliantly here, People who have done Crisis Core's ending will get a rough idea of what I mean.

Now you have to make sure you get the True End, which mean you'll have to get another ending first, but to me honest I recommend getting them all, except Coffin. Each ending gives you all these little details that help you figure stuff out and adds to the overall plot. It took me about 20 hours give or take. If you really wanted, you could get a Spoiler Free walkthrough. And make sure you go to the official website and check Answers after you get the True End.

If there's any chance you can play 999, you have to. Because if Virtue's Last Reward is even half as good it'll be in the top 3 games I've played this year across all platforms. If you are even remotely interested in a puzzles, mysteries, an awesome story or good characters, you absolutely have to play 999. Sure you could do a YouTube run, but that should only be a last resort as certain things won't be experienced properly, like the aforementioned gameplay twist at the end.

So fellow Vitabros. Play 999, and then play Virtue's Last Reward. You won't regret it :)

I'm gonna jump straight into the sequel now

Was it released on PSP? Or DS the only route?

Damn, just ordered MK for $15. Going to have to return that and get the Plus download (assuming it also is for NA).

Well, its 3GB, I might even prefer Retail since its so huge.

I would not count on it the good US has gotten the shaft since early summer in PS+. Cloud saves and now PS Vita games are the only thing keeping me around. I have not downloaded a PS3 game from plus in 3 months. Thanks to the Vita games and around E3 time I got my moneys worth game wise.

I like how Amazon.com automatically calculates import fees for international orders and adds them to your total - should make it a lot easier to order any Vita games that don't get released over here.
