Yeah that is a pity :(

Sony has never done well with the GUI customization options... see notification pops . PS3 either has them on or off, you can't just turn them off for trophies or online/offline or specific events. Same with Vita, AFAIK, Toma... you can't just turn of so and so is online, I think. Simple changes that would make a world of difference in the UI design...

You can change individual notification settings on Vita now.

PSN store down before I can download Gravity Rush. WHY.jpg

And WHY.jpg @ the final planet's boss in Super Stardust. Have to dodge things you can't destroy while trying to avoid the bullets. Bullethell Shooter redefined. :/

You can turn if off, if that's what you mean

How can I turn off "X is online" in the notification bar? You can only turn off the button light, the popup and something else. I already turned off everything for "X is online" in the notifications menu and it still tells me when someone came online in that panel (although no popups anymore).

You can't. But you can turn off the notification, so why does it matter? :P

New Vita owner here... and apparently there's no quick way to backup saves?

For example, I downloaded Uncharted from PSPlus on my 4 gig memory stick - after I beat it, I want to delete it and put another game on there... but if I delete it, I lose my save data unless I backup the entire game using the content manager?

Imported VLR from VGP, yup! Was shipped on Friday so hopefully will be with me in the next week or two :)

Took about a week for VLR to arrive for me. The wait for Golden is gonna kill me though

You can only back up the save if you have PS+

Go to content manager and upload it there

I have it for now, but I'm not sure I'll want to keep it once my sub runs out...

Can I upload it to PS+, and then download it from there to my PS3? (the save file, not the entire backup)

Then backing up the entire game I the only choice you have

As for moving it to PS3, I've never tried, but I doubt it. PS3 and Vita use a seperate 1gb allocation for storage. Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think you can access the Vita's from PS3

Indeed, separate clouds, PS3 cannot acces PSV saves on the cloud.

Also, there's the technique for only backing up the save file by plucking it out of the _temp folder during backup, I think.

Nice - this is exactly what I needed. It's annoying how Sony didn't follow the PS3 route where there's a dedicated folder to save data for all software.

PSP save data was handled like the PS3's as well, and it lead to the creation of many PSP exploits. They have been extremely paranoid with Vita in this regard.

You can still manipulate save files on the Vita, as the post you linked describes. Coupling game data and save files as an anti-piracy measure is 100% noneffective.

The PSP was exploitable because of its architecture, not because you could manipulate save files.

Welp, I dropped my vita and the screen was smashed up, does anyone know what it would cost to have sony fix it up? Or do I have to go buy a new one?

I was literally days from buying Persona 4 so this is a pretty big bummer

I jelly like the shade of red of this Vita:

Sony should be able to offer a repair, but it might be so expensive that you might as well buy another one. : /

FWIW, I uploaded my GT5 save to PS Plus when I had a free month and then let my subscription lapse for several months. When I reactivated PS Plus this month my save was still there.

I'm a sucker for LE's. Asssuming FFX is still coming and it has a LE model, I'm getting it :)

It will be blue and have Yuna walking on water in the back.

Believe

it'll probably be a very understated design with just ffx iconography on it.

YouTube update live.

Subscriptions and channels: Now you can view and manage your subscriptions (including your subscription to the PlayStation YouTube channel), browse all videos on a specific channel and check out detailed information in the "About this channel" menu option.

Improved controls: We've added new functions on controls including Next/Previous buttons, a loop video option and the ability to browse videos while another is playing, making it easy to select preferred videos without interrupting playback.

Playlist settings: You can now create playlists and add videos to your playlists, including your Favorites or Watch Later lists.

Closed captions: Captions help deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers enjoy YouTube videos, and they're also useful if you forgot your headphones and want to watch videos in a loud (or quiet) setting while on-the-go. Now you can display closed captions when playing videos. Look for the captions icon on the video thumbnail. You can even change the language of captions in the options menu.

Continuous playback: In the settings menu, you can now enable continuous playback, so your next video selection will start to play automatically.

PS Vita buttons: You now have the option to use the PS Vita buttons to control playback and menus, which can be enabled in the Settings > System menu.

Share: Show that you're tuned in-Tweet, Email or group message your friends the name and URL to the latest video. You can also invite people to check out any channel on YouTube - like the the PlayStation YouTube channel - via group message, so they don't miss a beat.

Improved search: You can now use search filters - sorting by upload date or duration, for example - making it easier than ever to find your favorite videos.

The Ellen Show demographic will be visiting this thread. They all just got Vitas and some other stuff.
With copies of what? Plants vs. Zombies, Super Monkey Ball and Hot Shots Golf? I'm genuinely curious. There isn't much of a library for your typical talkshow woman and her young kids on the Vita.
