How is Crimson Gem Saga? I heard good things about it.
With that price, I might buy it.

Conclusion I got from reading several reviews:
Apparently a really, really pretty RPG that has a rather simplistic battle system with lots of grinding. Main story 40hrs, optional quests make it even longer.

Also, Uncarded allows me to use the directional buttons in the menu. WHY DOESNT UC:GA ALLOW FOR THIS.

Mediocre KRPG. Don't waste your time when there are better games to play.

Cool, won't buy.
Better save it for P4G.

I played through some of crimson gem saga on the psp. The story seemed interesting and the mechanics were solid. Having to grind for so many of boss/sideboss battles made the game a chore(i never finished it). I had no idea it's a sequal to the rpg Astonishia Story.

Playing my first MP match of Uncarded. This game is more strategic and exciting than I thought at first.

I may pick up Fight for Fortune tomorrow when I get paid if I hear some more positive impressions. Have their been any reviews besides Hanmik's and The Sixth Axis impressions?

Question for you, Toma who is someone I trust with game recommendations:

Have you played many card games in the past?

And what are your impressions so far when compared to those hypothetical card games?

Which basically says, if you like tactical card games, you are going to enjoy this as well.

Some of their other negative points dont seem quite valid though. The power up issue through playing UC:GA isnt as grave as they make out to be if the player can unlock cards ingame that are as strong as the UC power up cards. But obviously I cant state that firmly yet, it seems to me that they havent played through the game yet though

And they also make it seem like replaying the same enemy is only a chore, which isnt necessarily true either since replaying a certain match makes it tougher.

One aspect which I need to agree with is the deck management. That is indeed a bit cumbersome unfortunately.

Magic - The Gathering(my favourite <3), Pokemon, YugiOh, Lost Kingdoms, Baten Kaitos, Metal Gear Acid... I think I pretty much played every somewhat decent console card games I could get my hands on, plus a few real life ones.

I have only played 6 SP matches and I am trying an MP match atm, but so far its surprisingly tactical. I would have imagined it to be quite a bit more simplistic. One downside I need to admit atm is playing online ranked matches before progressing in the SP mode (which gives you better cards without the need to rely on upgraded UC:GA cards), which might let you fight against a beginner with powered up UC cards and the rather cumbersome deck management menu. But I have the strong hunch that this wont affect endgame too much even if you dont have powered up UC cards, since all the cards I unlocked so far were stronger than the base cards and didnt have UC power up features. Another nuisance: I havent dealt too much with deck management yet, as I am still trying to get an idea of the gameplay but I can... see the issue with it. Loading it up takes a while and its not quite well arranged. (Edit: Just tinkered a bit with it. Its actually not that bothersome since the game is designed in a way that lets you unlock cards that get added to the overall playstack without you NEEDING to manage the cards. You can still affect some cards to play, but not all. The deck management aspect is a bit less important than I thought at first and probably more subtle) The gameplay itself seems to be really solid though. It also has a nice amount of unlockable cards, card backs and backdrops.

The fact that you can only have 8 games at a time is also a bit annoying, but we'll see.

Other than that, I am overall definitely positively surprised. I think the game took a few ideas from other popular card games like the idea of "mana" that you need to play a card, but managed to give it its own "twist" so that it doesnt simply feel derivative. One example for that would be the fortune mechanic: You basically "bet" on your cards that they will win fights, and IF they win a fight you get the fortune you bet on them which sort of works like "mana" and lets you use more powered up stat cards.

Every card can also be equipped 3 times AND you need to consider combo bonusses while laying down cards, which gives the card placement quite a bit of importance other than only thinking about which enemy card to attack. Another positive thing is that they pretty much covered all game type bases. SP progression to unlock cards and art, Quick matches against unlocked and adjustable KI opponents, Async ranked MP & Pass and play local MP.

I am a bit impressed actually, especially considering this game doesnt have a real life card game background. Magic is only as good as it is because it has 15 years of card making experience and improvements on its back. It wouldnt be fair to compare them directly due to that (I mean, Magic has 15,000 cards... and isnt restricted to a 5 spot card setup due to the limitation of a smaller screen, while Uncarded isnt exactly even a "collectible" card game), but considering the limitations my initial impressions seem to be something between 7 and 8 out of 10. Tending towards 8, but I'll play more before making a verdict on that. One thing I can say for sure though: I am going to play this. A LOT. As I said earlier, if you like tactical card games, you'll pretty much like this too. The UC tie in is a bit weird at first, but I can already see myself becoming attached to some cards.

There havent been many card games recently, so if you have an urge to satisfy, this game will do very nicely. If you dont own UC:GA you could have an initial disadvantages in MP and maybe even later which is hard to tell atm, but the SP alone is still a rather engaging time waster thats definitely worth the 5 bucks, even if you never plan to dabble into MP (which seems very fun).

Edit: Oh and yeah. Bend? Please. Please let me skip/forward the enemies turn. There is no need to watch the enemies move if you cant affect it.
Huzzah! You can turn on "fast battles" where they wont show every card detail of the enemies move, makes it MUCH faster.

Edit: After looking into it a bit more closely, not having played UC:GA WILL definitely affect a player. They did a good job of mixing those cards in, but in the end a player with upgraded UC cards still has a higher chance of getting better cards. However, not everything hinges on that mechanic, I think you can still play a great match and win with tactical play even if your opponent has stronger starting cards. How that affects long term play remains to be seen.

Any really, I had to delete Sound Shapes to make room for these.

I was just... joking about games... on Vita :p
I really, really want to check out the Sound Shapes DLC and Prinny too, but I cant let go of Uncarded atm.

I don't know why Sony continues to give Pocketgamer review codes. Have they ever given a Vita game a good review before? lol

They seem to be a relatively big site, especially here in the Uk. From the no of comments they get on their website you wouldn't think it but they are. (The cod review was probably the most commented article i have ever seen on pocketgamer)

All this rpg talk on here makes me want to play Valkyrie Profile again (i've played enough persona for 2 lifetimes)

Will find out in 3 minutes..

oh man 99p every 100 lemmings

nah it's 2.79 for everything (79 for the special levels.., 1.99 for the extra difficulties or "standard level pack")

Also, Vitabros™, if you are in the mood to listen to a podcast that is (mostly) positive about the Vita check out the new ThatSportsGamer podcast. He had Greg Sewart (PlayerOne Podcast), Rich Grisham (Gamesradar) and some other jerk.

It's not going to breaking news or anything for the vita faithful, but I figured I'd float it out here if anyone was in the mood for something like this.

All the stages and stuff cost like $3.49 combined. Just a reminder, the PSP Lemmings costs like $22 on the NA store, lol.

Yeah. Just played Uncarded for 3 hours straight. This is addicting.
Btw, I just noticed a fast battle option in the menu, check that box.

Seems like a fair price, nice game to have, just picked it up with the extras. There seems to be space below the special pack for 2 more packs as well.

...Yes. Of all of the PSN games i've bought. I'm sad and like spreadsheets.

It actually makes sense considering the poor item/dl management and track history of PSN.

That's great, I envy you. I used to had like 16 PSN accounts from multiple regions and multiple games on each, I had about 100+ games across them. Then my PS3 YLOD and now I'm too lazy to remember each id/password and game content.

New content up:

Sound Shapes DLC x4 (0,99x3 + 1 free)
DJ MAX TECHNIKA TUNE (44,99)
Uncharted Fight For Fortune + DLCx2 (4,99 +2,99x2)

PSP games on sale in the US:

Crimson Gem Saga (7,49)
Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness (7,99)
Prinny (4,99)

Also, my Uncarded impressions if anyone cares:

Played for 3:30 hrs straight and now off to bed.

Hmm...

Seems they removed the level editor, and maybe 50 levels (!!) from the PSP version?

Lame that they removed the editor but so far there is 120 standard stages (30x4) and 36 special stages.. so 156 - hopefully we get a level editor with game sharing in an update-maybe that's what the space is for...since they said "150+" in that description seems like it might be the same. I was thinking the levels were pretty well thought out and named for such a cheap price.

156 levels is pretty good for £2.79 though :)
