Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

These look hideous.

On the Vita screen and in motion it does look much better. It's no stunner though, that's for sure.

Any impressions Smokey?

Honestly, I've only spent ten minutes on it (one Welsh stage and one Spanish stage) so I can't really help. I used a Super 2000 car and the controls felt fine to me, nothing leapt out as 'wrong'. The framerate seemed pretty smooth throughout but I'm not 100% sensitive to these things.

Overall though, mad underwhelming. My brief blast just left me thinking 'eh, Most Wanted is out soon I guess'.

Cheers chaps!

Hopefully these'll show up:

I was skimming through this thread and almost thought those were NFS Most Wanted screenshots. I'm going to assume that NFSMW won't look as bad as that does...

Shit, I forgot Gamestop takes forever to send digital PSN cards. Hopefully I can get it and add it before the power is out. =/ It's like everything bad that can happen is happening. Areas around me are starting to go dark, too. ):

So Capcom still hasn't fixed the SFxT Vita DLC fiasco and have said nothing about what they're intending to do about it.

I also love how Kotaku, Joystiq, and Event Hubs all did nothing with multiple tips about the issue. Thank you, game "journalism"!

Amazon was again selling the instant codes, last I checked.
You could buy an emergency one or two from there, if you can afford the extra cash.

I was going to do that but I had a few giftcards laying around for Gamestop, unfortunately. If I really have to I'll grab one from Amazon.

i was about to post this

Yes Steins;Gate! Such a great VN, maybe it will finally come overseas.

It certainly doesn't look like a #1 Stunner and like everything else, the games look much better on the Vita screen but you can't turn that N64 era looking game into a looker no matter what screen.

Added $100 to my PSN wallet. I thinkninwill start with sound shapes as my first Vita game. Also maybe Uncharted.

Really sucks the Vita game prices are so high on here. Also I don't know how useful the 8gb card the Vita bundle came with will be.

If you spend all $100 by tomorrow, you'll be able to get $20 back in November. Go crazy! And yeah, you'll need to upgrade from that 8GB at some point.

PocketGamer review of Most Wanted.

The Vita version is extremely similar, don't get me wrong. The same route taken through the same city, with the same cars being chased by the same cops. But a few elements got lost in translation. There aren't enough cars on the road to cause gridlock, for example, and the graphics have been scaled down so there are no gates and no dirt.

But, the Vita version does not come without its compromises. The indecipherable graphics, weird radio controls, and low traffic count all sap some of the life out of the game. They defang a ferociously fun and fast racer. In the end, Most Wanted is a good version of a great game - which is good enough.

I wonder if the reviewer knows what "indecipherable" actually means.

It can be manageable if you have a PC / PS3 to back up games your not playing to.

Its really the big vita games that will eat up the storage really fast.

Remember that the save files for vita games are stored within the game bubble. This means if you finish a game and decide to delete it the save will go as well. To prevent this back the game up on your PC / PS3 and then delete it. Then if you ever want to play it agian just reinstall it from your PC / PS3 back up and the save will be restored as well.

I upgraded from 8gb because I bought a lot of PSP games as well and it takes a fair amount of space. I will be upgrading to a 32 gb to soon because i want to be able to have room to put videos on there for when I ever travel for what ever reason.

But if you are willing to just have the games you are playing installed you can get by with 8GB.

I would take any pocket gamer review with a healthy dose of salt. They are usually good for news but recently their reviews have been trash.

Doesn't look indecipherable to me.

I can imagine identifying and dodging the cop cars in the first picture to be an significant issue. The review itself says, "It can be really hard to see what's coming up - the horizon just looks like a blur of pixels and blue headlights, shortly before you slam into a tree or a lorry."

suddenly spy hunter

Anyways, the ESRB rated Arkedo series for Vita:

The ESRB has given the Arkedo Series an E rating for PlayStation Vita. Regularly this wouldn’t be news, except for the fact that Arkedo Series has yet to be announced for PlayStation Vita. The Arkedo Series collects the Xbox Live Indie games Jump, Swap, and Pixel made by Arkedo Studio (of Hell Yeah! fame) into one neat package. The three games span a variety of genres from classical platformers, to modern puzzle games in an attempt to emulate the arcade style. In a post on the PlayStation Blog last month publishing manager at Sanuk Games, Yan Marchal hinted that a Vita version is possible if fans support the PS3 release:

We have no plan at this time for a PS Vita version but, as there appears to be quite a few people interested, we may think about it if the PS3 version is successful enough! Please note that it does not only depend on me though, therefore I can’t make any commitment right now.

A spinoff to the series, Pix’N Love Rush was released last year via the PlayStation Minis program and is now available for direct download on PlayStation Vita.

Always funny to see a review start out comparing it to the console counterpart immediately.

EDIT:

Multiplayer sounds great:
There’s a more typical multiplayer mode, too. A few pals can explore the open world of Fairhaven at the same time, and get stuck into races. It’s not as fun as Burnout Paradise, where the missions were more often silly stunts than basic races, but it works as advertised.

When will Hurricane Sandy make landfall tomorrow?
- Shortly before 2:00am Eastern Daylight Time, just south of Philadelphia as a Category 1 storm packing 75 mph winds.

When will our new Vita games make landfall on PSN tomorrow?
- Who the hell knows, man! We're at the mercy of Grace Chen. Nature is both crazy and unpredictable.
- At best we can narrow it down to a 5-6 hour window and that's still just a complete and total guess.

Probably shouldn't really post this year but it doesn't seem work bumping the Minis thread for as it's just advertising shit :P

Ripstone games' PSMobile game Alien Slime Monster is coming soon. Like their page on facebook http://www.facebook.com/AlienSlimeMonster and share the yellow "panic" picture on their page to "WIN AN AWESOME PRIZE". Yeah it's probably shit but oh well.

Besides, it looks like a cool game so you should like the page anyway ;)

Footage looked great. Music was horrible. Why was his car constantly changing colors? Edited footage?

I thought maybe he was going through some kind of paint shop each lap that resprayed his car for him? Dunno though.

Game looks fantastic in motion. However I still can't quite imagine myself playing it at those speeds with the Vita sticks, for some reason I picture myself breaking them :|

Will there be a demo for it?

Holy shit, Trials is coming to the PSP2?

DO
never gonna get the platinum
WANT.
