Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

Not sure if this is the best place to ask but anyone know why Sony doesn't provide Vita's with HDMI out to media outlets? They have them made and it would be so much easier for outlets to provide better coverage of it's software, which it really needs. Hell, there's a popular site out there that completely ignores the Vita when it comes to capturing video of the software because Sony has not provided them with the appropriate equipment.
Edit:Shit, top of the page.....

So do you think I should stick with the PSP3000 and the bunch of games I haven't gotten to or just go right to the vita and sell off the PSP?

If you are playing PSP or PSone games on the Vita you can definitely squeeze out a lot more from the battery. So i'd say sell off the PSP before the value depreciates with the holiday prices coming up.

If you are still looking forward to PSP games that don't seem to be coming out on PSN or are just much cheaper in physical format, then you may as well keep it.

I would recommend the 32gb for anyone who's considering the 16gb option.

Yep. I've been considering the 16gb for months now and actually found decent prices for it. No use dabbling in the middle though (I have a lot of PSP games waiting for some space).

I'm eagerly awaiting Black Friday or Cyber Monday for some hopeful discounts.

OK guys, I need some help making a decision.

So recently, in the last few months, I bought a PSP and about a dozen games for it. Most of the games were under $10 each. I also bought a few games digitally. I have played through a bit of Vice city stories, and Persona 3 Portable and my digital copy of burnout. I just booted up Parasite Eve The Last Birthday thanks to the storm knocking power in and out in Massachusetts. Just the right kind of dumb japanese gaming I like (voice acting, crazy story line, weird characters). And it have some great music and amazing graphics for the PSP.

Yesterday I got in on the Target deal for the 3G vita with the 8GB memory card, it came out to about $195 after shipping.

After reading up a bit, it looks like I would be crazy to not go with at least a 16GB card, so the 8Gb card would be useless to me. Now tomorrow the AC Liberation bundle comes out with the awesome white Vita and what looks to be a good side story for AC3.

The big thing that was putting me off from the Vita was the poor battery life. About 4ish hours playing Vita games. With a flight from Boston to Tokyo coming up that didn't sound acceptable. Since then I have found a few different portable battery options that should help me get 8ish hours of total gaming.

For the October promo on PSN I have purchased Sound Shapes and Retro City Rampage. I think if I went the Vita route I would also want to pick up Uncharted, Gravity Rush, and a third game with the Target buy 2 get 1 sale.

PS+ is starting support for Vita in the upcoming month, so it's the perfect opportunity to take the plunge. As you've found out there's alternatives to lengthen your playtime, so I should think it's not a total deal breaker.

Go 32 GB for the mem card. Wait until Amazon has them in the $70 range. I picked mine up for that price. Depends on how bad you need the mem card.

You may have a hard time selling the PSP. Gamestop will not buy them. You probably at looking at about $50 for your PSP. For a trip, I would say take your PSP. If it gets stolen, it won't be a biggie. Your Vita would attract more attention and would hurt more if stolen.

Keep the Vita. There are probably more games on the system + backwards compatibility than what you could play. Also, battery last much longer when playing PSone or PSP games.

I'd only keep my PSP for those PSP games that are not available digitally. But as I said, there's enough content on the system right now that you can easily ignore them (unless you really want to play FFVIICC, KH:BBS or MGSPW).

Why would you want any information or gameplay videos of games you might want to buy? You a communist or something?

(I would buy and play more vita games if GB could do quicklooks of them without awful over the shoulder cam).

because developers need to feel special

all black vitas (no silver trim) is not special enough

because Sony

There must be a legit reason. Sony worried about piracy?

I asked Patrick regarding this and he made it clear that Sony does not want to provide them any type of capture kit.
I guess Sony is damaging their brand like usual.

Vita GAF! I'm deciding between Chrono Trigger and Xenogears. I want a game that will look good on the screen, has a fun battle system, interesting characters, and lots to do!

Xenogears was a great game, but due to a rushed production schedule the beginning of the third act is an hour long cutscene. This might not sound so bad until you realize that it's a PSOne cutscene meaning you're signing up to read a short novel before you get to play the final dungeon and beat the game.

Sounds like you're waiting on P4G, like many of us in here.

But between Xenogears and Chrono Trigger, I'd go with Xenogears. Chrono Trigger on PSone was a bad port.

But the secret best answer is Chrono Cross.

I said fuck it and bought Chrono Trigger just now. I'll let you know how the loading is with the faster disc read option...

EDIT: Bought Cross too. I wanted to play them in order.

^^^This.

Chrono Trigger has awful loading times and Xenogears looks like shit. Cross is the way to go.

OMG, dudes, ACL tomorrow. So excited. Then next week Ragnarok.

Knew I could depend on you!

That ad is so good btw. It's really getting me hyped

The wonders of Shazam! Haha. And yeah it really is a fantastic ad. They've done a good job of advertising Liberation - hope it sells well. Would love nothing more than it to do really well.

Anyone else get Super Monkey Ball?
Had a lot of trouble finding it in stock near me, which I am sure has less to do with sales and more to do with them never getting any in stock in the first place.

A really solid game so far. Runs smooth and visually it's great.

Seems to play like the Super Monkey Balls of old!

^ Waiting for a digital sale on SMB myself. It's one of those games I'd like to fire up for a challenge from time to time but £30 is too steep for me. Busy month anyway..Still looks like fun and I'll want to have a copy to playthrough for sure. .. Still need to buy Unit 13 and Uncharted as well! Will nab those retail if there's a shortage down the line.

Definitely. Joke's on SEGA because i would have been incredibly tempted to pick it up if they'd priced it sensibly at £15 on PSN.

I bought Unit 13 from Gamefly a couple of days ago. $15. Great deal for that game. It's really fun.

Having that many cats is a bad idea. My cat hates getting a bath, and I can imagine doing 1 at a time warns the others to take off when you chase them.
Its funny because its true lol. Yeah I tell her all the time. When I was 17 she had 40. We had to call the humane Society. Boy that was crazy.

Speaking of Chrono Cross, is anyone else unable to transfer it from the PS3 -> Vita. It shows up in the NA Store on the Vita, but when I've connected my Vita to my PS3 it doesn't appear for transfer (FF7-FF9 and Xenogears worked).

If you are going to go mostly or all physical, 16gb will be enough. If you are going to go mostly digital, definitely get 32gb. You'll quickly come to learn that backing stuff up to and from the Vita is a major pain and is best avoided. I had a 16gb since Japanese launch and never wanted for more (all physical besides PSN only stuff), but recently upgraded to 32gb because I found a cheap card locally.

Regarding the PSP, I still have mine. The reality of the situation is that due to the lack of a UMD drive and home brew (easy home brew), there are still things the PSP does that the Vita will not do. As such, I think it is worth holding on to. I have a PSP with a 64gb card that I keep all my UMD ISOs on (my own games, of course), some of which are simply unavailable on the PSN and thus the Vita.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the battery though -- yeah, Vita games will generally clock around 4-5 hours, but PSX or PSP games and other apps are much less taxing on the battery -- you can get upwards of 7 hours with them.

Maybe it is just the awesome crystal white version that has me wanting to take the plunge into Vita land. I purchased the Target deal fully knowing that I could just return it if I wanted to.

It would be about a $350-400 investment if I went with the AC bundle and 3 games from the buy 2 get 1 sale.

BTW, this is the battery I picked up: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=1083110&p_id=9283&seq=1&format=2#description
