Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

I get the impression PlayStation Mobile stuff isn't doing so hot right now. The killer app Pinky Spots Leg Massage only has 17 ratings.

If i've learned, it's that ratings bears no resemblence to actual downloads. When Futurlab announced Velocity had been downloaded 100,000 times it had something like 40 ratings.

Everyone is aware of the Day One Patch for NFS:MW Vita, right? Right?!

That is a thing of note. I don't pay much attention to the Live Area so sometimes I'm not even aware there is a patch for the game. Noticed Liberations patch but I never even knew there was a patch for Uncharted till I tried the Black Market for bounties, and that was after my Crushing run

ugh - okay - look

the whole Ragnarok thing - it's not bad, but it's not a patch on Monster Hunter. You cannot distill Rag's complaints down to "well, just like monster hunter then?" because they're worlds apart. WORLDS.

It's best to look at Ragnarok as what it is - it's a quasi-MH/PSO game , edges more towards PSO, it's customisation, weaponry and tactical elements are not in the same realms of MH, but it's okay for what it is. It DOES become extremely stodgy and whilst i left it (intend to go back) around the back end of chapter 3 , i hear it gets better beyond that point.

But i -would- say that the repetition of the game hurts it way more than MH.

With some tweaking and some enhancements it could (or more likely a follow up could) be a substantial release but as it stands i'd put it as a middling to average effort that'll be long forgotten once some of the meatier -similar- entries turn up.

I guess a lot of people like Assassins Creed. Usually in my area there's been about 14-15 people with Vita's on Near. Most play Uncharted but Gravity Rush, Rayman and Motorstorm pop up quite often. Today?

I've got 37 people listed. More than half of which are playing Liberation

A quick look at their trophies show that pretty much all bought Uncharted as well. Little Big Planet and Gravity Rush are included every now and then

I have a feeling PSM games aren't doing too well either..although Carl probably has a point with ratings not being the best measure (at all)...but it's all we really have..and the top sellers list-although I'm not sure PSM will feature in that since it is a separate tab. Perhaps the ratings started fresh for the vita so velocity didn't get many? Not sure..

Anyway I really think the pricing isn't right for a lot of these games. Sure they are cheap and some of the games will be worth it - but I just think people are conditioned to 0.99 with iOS and given a lot of the games are of similar quality, it's not surprising people generally don't think it is worth the risk to try them. I'm almost certain they'd make more by halving some of these prices.. :S

After playing the PC version of NFSMW at a mates house for like 2 hours (probably shouldn't have done that since his rig is amazing)...I'm a bit put off by the vita version's screenshots...will have to rewatch those videos. Passing on AC as I promised myself not to pick up any laggy games full price after modnation as it does get to me (under the skin), hopefully not the rest of you!

Bit disappointed now tbh, especially with JSR delayed and still no announcement, really hope Sonic & Sega will deliver..but quite worried about that too of course (no footage at all).

At least persona 4 and PS All-Stars BR are still solid. Hopefully just a passing vita moodswing and I'm wrong about all the issues!

I mentioned this in the RO thread but. . . Why can reviewers rate games they haven't even completed? That'd be like a movie reviewer watching half a movie and saying WELP IT SUCKS, DON'T SEE IT. I can understand if the movie is unwatchable or the game is unplayable but RO is definitely playable, and lots of fun.

Anyone play PSP's savior, Airport Hero Haneda and check if it works on Vita via PS3?

i might just give it a whirl as i bought the 3DS Honalulu version and i'd be interested to see how they compare.

Definitely a game that's NOT for everyone but GOD DAMN does it float my boat/plane.

No, ratings are the same across all platforms as far as i know.

With regard to pricing, it's better to start high and drop the prices if needed, than start low and instantly start an "iOS culture" which is damaging in my opinion. As evidenced by the amount of people that wait for a game to be 99p before they will touch it. If the prices are generally higher than that and there is no expectation for them to drop to 99p, then maybe people will be more willing to pay the higher price instead.

Besides, developers set their own prices on PSMobile games. They can set it at whatever they wait, AFAIK, apart from free.

Well, to their defense, if movie is really bad in the first half, it probably IS a bad movie. I mean, I don't want to sit through the grueling half time just to see some fun at the end, unless it is totally fucking mind bending galaxy explosion awesome.

Movies are 2.5 hours long at max most of the time.

Certain games can be 120 hours long.

O.k seriously what is going with Final Fantasy X

Three games remakes are announced and FFX being one of the first but gets no release date.

OK bros, need help here.

1. Little kings story
2. AC L
3. Ragnarok Odyssey

Which one? I need to buy one to pass $100.

Ragnarok Odyssey. Not because it's the best, but because it's multiplayer and mission focused. The other two games are single player, and the type that once you've finished, you're done. With RO you could just keep playing so it makes sense to keep that on the Vita at all times so it best fits as a PSN version.

I'm uploading an 8 minute NFS MW video right now. Shows off a race, cops, riding around, custom soundtracks, etc. If I'm being honest, it's the clearest video of the game yet, plus direct feed sound. Should be done in about 45 minutes.

Looking forward to it VanWinkle, thanks.

Ah ok, yeah not the best system to go on then..

I see your point about setting the bar and I agree but it feels like they are charging more for the same, which isn't going to fly... If people see the prices won't drop they may just very well ignore it...except for the ones that really want that game on vita.

For mini-games..I have to think that so many more would buy them at a reduced price (more then the difference)...like crazy amount more. These devs being greedy/stupid? I'd almost bet my vita on price drops...it just makes no sense, 99p on iphone, 2-3 on vita :S Not for most games anyway. Even Eufloria, great game, I'm sure will be overpriced and only the biggest fans will pick it up...although that is hardly a minigame imo - more like a psn one, but let's see how it turns out, wasn't there an interview in the works, maybe it already came out, will have a look.

£2.19 is a decent price tag though...Not sure why I feel £2.79 was so much worse...so tight these days! ;) Maybe it was steam sales..

Well, exactly. A lot of the pricing depends on projected sales. Obviously at the moment Sony is still treating PSM as a bit of a beta - taking developer and user feedback and trying to improve it before really marketing it. I'd assume at this stage, projected sales aren't incredibly high. The amount of devices open to PSM software at the moment is very small, as are the amount of territories the game is available in. So obviously the price has to be higher to justify the game. If they don't believe enough people would buy it at 99p to cover the price difference, they won't do it.

Of course, when the programme opens up to everyone in November, and when the service begins to roll out more, we may see the pricing shift downwards somewhat. There will also be a hell of a lot more competition then (as the content is tightly controlled at the moment) - giving more motivation for developers to price their games as low as they feel they can.
