-Tired of Nintendo IPs after more than 10 years being a Nintendo fanboy, and the 'new' ones like Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Nintendogs, Brain Training or even Pokemon aren't appealing to me.
-I want a new F-Zero as good as F-Zero X or F-Zero GX (I'm not talking about a GX HD port).
-During my GB/GBC/GBA/DS age I was tired of very poor versions of home console games, something that PSP and Vita handled really well, and now even some of them share multiplayer, DLC, the saves or even the purchase with the home version.
-A lot of games I love are/will be in Vita only (Lumines, Wipeout, Uncharted, Metal Gear, Little Big Planet, Killzone, God of War, ...). I only miss RE and Monster Hunter from 3DS.
-I have a good catalog of PSN PS1, PSP and Minis games, which are compatible with Vita.
-The 3D effect of the 3DS is cool in some games but dizzies me after being playing during some time. I'm a 3D believer, specially with the glassless one, but I think that the technology needs another step of improvement to get rid of headaches, to don't need to force the eyes, to work better in a wider angle, etc.
-Vita is the first portable with proper dual analog controls and it's dpad works perfecty with 2D fighters, which I love. This means that for the first time several home console genres (like 3rd person or 1st person shooters) will be playable properly in a handled with proper controls, and well, with proper graphics.
-Vita PSN services are way better, specially when considering its integration with PSP and PS3. From the free multiplayer that works really well, to BC, to PSM, trophies, movies, the upcoming PS+, remote play and a long etc.
-Vita has extra horsepower, better screen, better resolution and ergonomics than 3DS.

I have both, 3DS has been collecting dust since I got the Vita and only being used for the occasional streetpass hit. Vita is being used more than any handheld I had before. Same thing happened with the DS and PSP. Playstation games are more my thing.

I'm quite happy to say that I've never taken a review into consideration when buying games or watching films. I'll occasionally check them if there's a specific feature I want or want to avoid, but other than that, no interest. It's just some other guys opinion.

Edit: just found the Countach. My life is complete.

No. I have no interest in the 3DS. Would have bought one for MH3rd. But the Wii U is getting it aswell, so no point in getting a 3DS for me personally,.
 
Please gaming gods let us get some kind of 3d gta game with euphoria physics on the vita.

And I understand the frustration of seeing a handheld being compared to a console, but it is the same exact game. I think it can be compared apples to apples.
Although they should take into consideration the convenience of having it in your pocket.

As I remember Rockstar said in their Twitter that were working on Vita games long time ago (more or less when it was announced).

i have both, after mario land 3d and mario kart there have been no games on 3ds that interest me so the gf has it and plays it on slow days at work. eventually i will get the new super mario bros game for it, but thats about it

I have no love for nintendos first party offerings anymore. (Not a big fan of Sonya big IPs either to be fair).

I think 3d is atrocious.

I hate the ergonomics on the 3ds.

I think the 3ds like the ds doesn't have enough power to make me enjoy the art in 3d games but on the ds it was fine since I prefer great 2d compared to shitty 3d.

Games. Ac3:l and p4g interest me more than basically the entire 3ds lineup so far.

Playing the 3DS is like foreplay. Vita is like a full on orgasm. Too much?

I play all Nintendo machines for Nintendo IP. That's about it. Vita's a better machine in every other category.

That’s exactly how I am, I do tend to see what the general consensus is on Gaf/friends but otherwise I know what I like and if a game/film/show sounds like something I would be interested in then that is enough for me.

Seeing the scores for AC3:L and NFS:MW make me sad, it just seems that because they are 1) Vita games and 2) console style games that they get unfair criticism. Sure AC3:L seems to have some issues (I haven’t had any real issues after about 3 hours in) but the way some go on you would think its a broken mess.

Just seems that this industry, through press and a lot of fans love to make hyperbolic statements regarding how something is 'hot garbage' ect.
 
Gaming press clearly felt they were being too kind on Vita reviews and decided that direct comparison scoring against console releases on systems with more horsepower was the only fair way to approach reviews. Best way to ensure all of the Vita's key flagpole Christmas titles have their legs effectively cut out from them heading into the key holiday shopping season.

Goodness knows we'd never want to have Vita gaming experiences compared with other portable devices like the 3DS (whoot... Paper Mario comes out next weekend) or iOS (where all games cost $2-5 and easily earn scores of 85% or higher despite being clones of hundreds of other titles already on the same platform).

i didn't - i have both and i'm happy with both as well.

Need For Speed - i'm loving it so far. Has some issues, but nothing too annoying yet.

Played yesterday Zero Escape : Virtue's Last Reward demo, the sequel to 999.

The 3d graphics are more or less bad for a Vita game, so are the DS like controls to move the character. But its puzzles, story and 2D illustrations and character design by Kinu Nishimura (Street Fighter II, SF3, SFIV and other godly Capgod stuff) are really awesome.

Check it, it's awesome. I love to see such a too Japanese game being released here.

Man, honestly the reviews of Most Wanted for Vita kind of upset me. Why do they have to be compared and scrutinized in every respect to the console version? This is a portable game. This isn't a case of "Which version is better? PS3 or 360?" This is a racing game on a portable, it's a huge technical achievement for portable platforms, and it's the best and most ambitious portable racer ever. Is it as good in every way as the console games? No, but why are they expecting it to be? By their accounts, Most Wanted on iOS and Android should score about a 0.5/10.

And seriously? That IGN review wants MORE cops? Golly, and I was getting sick of the amount it had already.

These asses are one review away from me going nuclear. You have to ask yourself, can I get this level of racing on another portable machine? I'm not asking to hand out 9s and 10s but look at it wholistic damn it.

Don't worry about it. I don't even play multiplayer. It's never fun for me.

The last game I played any sort of multiplayer in was Borderlands 2. My friends just run through everything and I like to take things slow and enjoy everything. It's not conducive to online gaming.

I own both. I chiefly play games on Vita, as the 3DS isn't a device I like playing games on. The d-pad is awful, and I've never been a fan of the clamshell design. I own one because it'll get a lot of support, and every so often I'll partake in one of Nintendo's first party franchises, even if I'm horribly burned out on them. For Vita, I was a huge supporter of the PSP, love the fact that SCE isn't afraid to take risks, and instantly fell in love with the hardware once I got a hold of it. Vita just feels right.

My thoughts exactly, except I wasn't a huge supporter of the PSP. I wasn't really much into handheld gaming at all last gen. I had one for a couple of months. Also bought a DS at launch but didn't really use it after a year or so. Other than that, I completely agree with all of your points.
 
So has anybody else been waiting for UPS shipments from Newegg, Amazon, etc, since hurricane Sandy came through? I had my RO preorder from Newegg in place since the day it was announced and I've gotten these weather updates/excuses:

So wtf is going on? Neither Newegg or UPS can tell me. Yes I can understand the hurricane knocking out power and stuff but AFAIK it was mostly only the tri-state in my area that got hit hard, New York especially. This is also factoring in that the coastal regions were the ones with considerable damage (obvously). Tennessee? I don't think they were affected at all.. I can't see how they're being prevented from bringing it to NJ now.. it's just infuriating because I really want my copy of the game, for the price newegg gave me :\

Even as a fan of monster hunter, there is nothing announced MH-wise that makes the 3DS more attractive to me than the wii u. I'm also not particularly convinced that they won't Resident Evil up the MH franchise within two or three more iterations, though.

Only thing so far for me, and this is trite/nitpicky at best, but when I crash at 150+ and my car does not buckle or windshield not even break.... it just takes me out of the game a bit, I loved seeing the damage in other racers, would be great to see half a million dollar car turn into a tin can haha.

Other than that I am maining that skyline gtr eww wee I love that thing.

The real problem is that it's the flagpole franchise titles that absolutely HAVE to perform well on Metacritic in order for the Vita to have any chance of growing its audience and remaining a long-term viable platform that publishers choose to support.

Am I thrilled that Virtue's Last Reward has fared well critically? Hell yeah. It's an amazing game that I just Platinumed this morning. But does the score matter in the grand scheme of things? Not in the least. Because it's a niche title that has absolutely no chance of driving hardware sales with mainstream audiences.

But Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Assassin's Creed III: Liberation DID have that potential. And for them to get panned critically for not performing up to the level of their X360/PS3 counterparts is positively fatal. Same goes for Uncharted: Golden Abyss and its 80 Metacritic score... a game most people would argue is superior to Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception which scored a 92.

If the key flagship titles that would compel a Joe Casual gamer to consider the Vita as a viable gaming platform continue to underperform critically because they are inferior to console equivalents... or simply because they're BAD due to being outsourced (as COD: Black Ops Declassified will likely be)... there will never be a reason for gamers to own this system. Regardless of whether it costs $249... $199... or $99.

And with those consumers not in the equation, those of us who are discerning enough to support this system devoutly (aka the Vitabros) will have fewer scraps thrown our way.

Lol weird ass physics. I hit some AI player head on, got a takedown ... only my car was flipping. I kept flipping for like 10 or so cycles. Then stopped .. and 'crashed' shows up.
 
Just got my RO order in, hopefully it doesn't arrive before I get back from my holiday. Bit anxious about it to be honest, taking the importing plunge for the first time

So does NFS have a lot to do in single player? I'm getting dangerously close to breaking my "not buying yet due to EA's high prices" stance. I shouldn't,but the impressions in here are great.

I heard stock problems was an issue to so maybe that too?

The game plays exactly the same with the same content and it scores less because it is less shiny? Games journalism ...

I definitely think so. I haven't even been in multiplayer. Have played about 4 hours and I only have something like 12% completed, plus there's all of the billboards and gates to try and break, and setting records on speedtraps. Stuff like that. Do you not want to play the multiplayer?

Not sure about the consoles as I have the vista only, I was more comparing it to burnout and the like where the crash effects were tremendous, even on the PSP versions, like I said just something I would like, other than that I have been playing nfs more than acl and vlr as of late.

I hope not. I can understand the LE is in limited stock but ugh - if my order gets messed up and I'm screwed out of a LE for the price I got (40$) I'll be pretty mad. I just talked to Newegg and they said "It's in transit, we can't resend another one" so all I can do is literally wait, since UPS has no freaking idea either :\

The weird thing is that it was scanned to leave their facility, and then they were like WELP, WE GOTTA SHUT DOWN again, for whatever weather conditions were stopping them - since they posted that instead.

I wouldn't be so mad if it was a single player game, but lots of my fellow gafers are already progressing and I want to be a part of it ;(
