Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

Ok so this week has really confirmed my fears that the Vita is already dying in the UK. At the start of the week I went into Blockbuster and they had removed their Vita section. Yesterday I went into HMV: again, the Vita section has gone. Went out to two huge Tesco Stores and a massive ASDA this evening to try and get a copy of NFS: MW. The Asda no longer has a Vita section and both Tesco stores said they were not expecting any more Vita games for the rest of the year!

If EA are struggling to get big name brands like NFS on the shelves, what chance has it got?

That is like the opposite of my area :/ the local GAME stores have bigger vita sections as does the local blockbuster.

Local game shop is doing Most Wanted and AC: Liberation packs for 235€ which is reason enough to finally pick up a Vita! Still deciding on the game though; I'm leaning towards Most Wanted since I feel like I'll be able to get a lot more out of that (multiplayer) than a single player campaign that has no replay value really.

NFS MW Vita

After playing the PC version for quite a few hours, picked this up yesterday - I prefer to game on vita and damn haven't quit the game once. Played it for hours and hours and kept me up extremely late yesterday. Absolutely loving it.

Surprisingly more traffic then I thought, looks pretty good you know (minus the meh environmental textures) but the huge game is all there and hellafun, same fun that I was having on PC. Excellent!! Like seriously, no qualms about the £40 that I was whining about before. Hasn't even crossed my mind.

I want to dig them for not giving wipeout level visuals for everything...but considering the size and scope of the game..you really should feel guilty for complaining. Top notch fun, shouldn't disappoint anyone that doesn't have ridiculous expectations - especially if you enjoy racing games.

Same here. I'm seeing a lot more activity on Near as well. More than 4 times what I had last week, no joke. I'm from Newcastle. Where you at?

to be fair everything is dying over here. but yes, for an expensive dedicated handheld like the vita it means the situation is even more dire. i'm not surprised to hear something like that.

i don't know if/when the uk video game market will recover.

I just think the market is stagnating. Defintely need the Wii U to come quickly. PS4 and Nextbox as well. The market has also gotten a lot more casual as well

So according to the Browsers thread it appears that there may be an update on the way for the Vita's browser.

Any features that folk would like to see?

Think I'll start with the 2 most obvious ones:

1. Fix the scrolling and caching to get rid of the dreaded checkered boxes, and

2. Clicking youtube links or embeded videos (which obviously don'y work) should open up the youtube app to play the linked video.

my super deluxe shiny edition can't get here soon enough.

GOLDEN

Neither can mine! I need the case. My Vita isn't leaving the house with me until I have it.

Same here :P

I'm still waiting to get Uncharted and Gravity Rush for cheap... sub $20 would probably do it

Yeah, Gravity Rush seems like a lot of fun from the demo, but I hear it's very short. Definitely not a $40 purchase for me. Same with Uncharted.

I'm like halfway done, maybe, and I've put a ton of time in so far; I wouldn't say it's that short -- then again, I think I got it for like $12, so I wouldn't complain about it ever. ;)

Pfft, Gravity Rush was my reason to buy a Vita and still is one of my favorite games this year. It's worth it at full price.

Gravity Rush was the game to sell me the Vita, and it was worth it. Bought all the DLC when I usually never buy DLC. Top 3 games of the year for me alongside Catherine and Journey

I'd be all over that at $12!

Possibly so! However, I bought to many games recently at full price. I'm becoming poor thanks to my gaming addiction habit. It's been out for awhile now. I want it cheap...ish!

I still have to play both of those games, too. What is wrong with me?!

The weird thing about Grav Rush for me is it was probably the only Vita game I was actually hyped for well ahead of my system purchase. Then I played the demo and it fell so far below my expectations that I wound up a little embittered. :(

Of course everyone says the demo isn't representative of the full game, and I still want to try it; I just don't have the heart to pay more than about 20 bucks. Especially now that it's been out for a while.

Any good? Mind you I'm no longer I interested in Pokemon, Loved it at first, but gave up after they went beyond 251 in total. The OCD in me wouldn't let me not collect them all, but the effort there would be far too much so I abandoned it. Yeah I abandoned a game I liked for giving me too much content...

If Invizimals is good and different I might give it a shot. Surprised there's no Vita version, especially considering there's a camera built in for every owner now

Guess because Invizimals was sort of aimed at kids, and they havent managed to get to that buyer group yet. They'd probably make a new one if they had more Vita sales that stretched to a younger audience.

sony shouldn't underestimate the power of kids whining to their parents to buy them toys imo. :)

Invizimals very much is a children's game. Novarama and SCE need to take the games to the next level. Establish a fiction that can sell characters, and the universe to kids. Create a gameplay experience that is more intimate than just augmented reality battles. They've had success with an unspectacular product. Hopefully Novarama can put together a great product now that the series is no longer on an annual schedule.

I fully expect a new title to launch alongside a price reduced Vita, and the Invizimals cartoon next fall.
