Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

Silent Hill: Book of Bomba was #9 on the Vita charts for its' first week. Konami kind of deserved that bomba though. Game would've been fine as a $15 PSN/XBLA title.

I dunno. Doesn't include digital though.
I've purchased upwards of two dozen Vita games.
Not a single one of those purchases will show up on a sales report anywhere.
Digital sales on a system BUILT around digital sales will severely impact the retail presence.
In truth, we have no idea whether most of these games are selling well or not based on the system install base.

Minecraft XBLA is the most successful video game on a sales front worldwide this season.
You won't find it on any sales charts, either.

Be honest with yourself. They probably aren't.

GAF isn't representative of much of anything except GAF.

I know but here's a good point. I thought Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus sold like shit until I heard about Sigma Plus 2 and Tecmo was happy with sales ... I was floored

Please. I doubt that digital sales (especially for a game this large in terms of space) will be that significantly higher than the physical version, especially when memory for this system "BUILT around digital" is so expensive.

This isn't a GAF argument. This is a sales argument.
You must not have seen my post in the latest "Vita is a doomed system" thread where I called out both Sony and the Vita as a failure. Albeit one that gets most of my gaming dollars.

We honestly have NO IDEA how well Vita titles are selling digitally based on the system's install base. NONE. We can approximate based on some in-game leaderboard tracking but that's about it.

Once again, Minecraft XBLA. There is a HUGE digital market out there we have no visibility into. People aren't using their Vitas to watch Netflix like they're doing with the Wii. They're buying software. We just don't know the rate at which they're buying software. And if you think they bought Vitas just so they could buy cartridges for it with cute little empty blue boxes and no manuals, you're kidding yourself. THAT market is your GAF anomaly.

Most sane people aren't buying carts for this system even if they can resell their games and the prices are undeniably cheaper. The people that can afford Vitas with outrageously expensive memory cards aren't going to lose sleep over the $10-15 they couldn't get back from trading in their copies of Uncharted: Golden Abyss when they were done with them.

Don't misunderstand. My point was just there is a huge overrepresentation on GAF of people who go "all-digital". In reality, this is an extremely small fraction of the userbase.

No, we don't know the exact digital numbers, but what we do know is they aren't good. Repeatedly we have seen that (right now) XBLA is pretty much the only viable digital console platform for games to sell big numbers, and I have heard little about retail releases on XBLA enjoying much success.

Even though digital PSN sales information is limited, you can't be so naive as to think Sony would keep it a secret if it was in a good place. Just look at how they waved their Journey success at us on a dime. They're more than willing to boast if the numbers back them up. Regarding the Vita, they have nothing to talk about. They don't even have the balls to mention Vita hardware sales separately from PSP in their financial reports. It's fucked.

Interesting that quite a few retailers in the UK are replacing the base Vita pack with the CoD one - adding games onto that for bundles instead of the vanilla console. Good bundle there Sony.

I'm in for When Vikings Attack because it reminds me of Power Stone and Super Dodgeball.

Has there been any footage of the Vita version?

WVA really snuck up on me. Didn't even know it was a thing before this morning, and now I'm really tempted to buy it. I don't have the money for non-budgeted purchases right now :\

Hell I don't even have the money for the things I have budgeted, but I'm doing it anyway T_T

I don't mean to be funny, but to those suggesting that NfS and AC have bombed in their first week here in the UK - the games have literally been out three or four days at this point, and obviously less when those numbers were compiled. Releases are Fridays here.

AC came out last wednesday

10k is a miserable figure no matter the perspective

This plus the UK games market is pretty terrible in general at the moment and has been for a while - outside of CoD and FIFA, I don't think many games sell in great numbers. "Number 1" doesn't mean much when most of the games are selling terribly.

Literally yes, but in reality Game, HMV and Grainger in my city didn't have it on shelves until Friday when they did the rest of the new releases.

oh i see. liverpool shops did but i obv can't speak for any other city

my grainger games was sold out, they probably had 5 copies going by this news

Oh man.

I'd do THINGS for a remake of Super Dodgeball on Vita.

Yeah, here in York this afternoon, HMV had lots of Liberation but one NfS left, same in Grainger, couple of Liberations in Game, no Need for Sped at all. Worth pointing out that it was a bad weekend for sales in the area over the weekend (I work here too), owing to being the last weekend of half term, awful weather, and the weekend before being particularly busy.

That new vita is dead thread -___-;

It seems like we actually hadn't had one in SEVERAL days so I was a taken aback but not surprised when I saw it.

Seems like they're being less subtle about it now (didn't think that was possible) by suggesting that Sony should outright kill it.

Damn right

People are tired of "vita is dead" threads, now they're openly begging Sony to kill it.

It's insane, really.
They believe Sony will release the PS4 quicker if the PSV isn't around to pool resources into.

When in reality, dropping a viable gaming platform after less than a year would poison Sony as a company and send a terrible message to developers and prospective purchasers for the PS4... a platform that will undoubtedly be the most expensive next-gen console option vs. the WiiU and X8.
