I never got an answer in the other thread so I guess I'll ask here. Does anyone how the free game with the 3G model works? I activated the pass in September but I never got an email for the game.

I've emailed sony about that annnnd I haven't heard back from them =/
Try giving them a call.

Wasn't that offer valid just for the launch window?

Does driver work on vita? I might get it.

Also modnation for 5.99 seems like an ok deal. It's a good kart racer just isn't too good looking and has sown frame rate issues

how are any of the PSP/Vita racing games in the EU PSN sale?
Everyone buy Crash Team Racing.

I guess Modnation has to be worth 6 quid? Think I'll pick that up if I have enough space. Ridge Racer Ultimate for less than a tenner looks like it's closer to the value it should have been too.

To be precise, only the psn store is region specific. If don't need to download anything from the store, you can still play online and download patches just fine, whatever region your game is.
Thanks, that actually sounds much better than I thought it was. So basically, if the game has no DLC or I didn't want to buy any, I could play, say a US region game fine online and offline on my UK account without changing or formatting anything? Do trophies work fine too?

Yes, but do take note that if the game has an online pass, the online pass is downloaded from the store. That effectively prevents you from playing an imported copy online. Thankfully, most games do not have online passes.

HAHAHAHAHA Fuck

http://ps-awards.jp.playstation.com/creator08.php

No mention of Vita. Every other single interview had them ask the creators what they felt about the platform, if they had anything planned, etc.

I'm not so sure they deserve such a "prestigious" award for another by-the-numbers Monster Hunter.
At this point it's just selling by the name, the creative strides of the franchise should have just been awarded years ago. Kind of unfair to all the original content out there.

Well, those awards seem to be a popularity contest, or possibly sales amount. Still, it's called "PlayStation Awards". This is the best of the best on all PS platforms? Even taking into account Japan releases only? Not a chance. Just belittling of the library is all.

Thanks for the info :) Will keep that in mind for games that won't release over here for a while.

Does anyone know how much space Modnation Vita takes up? For some reason Sony haven't provided download sizes on the store page.

Assuming you mean the Wipeout game? The game is actually supplied by Vodaphone not Sony try contacting them on

They dealt with mine quite quickly.

It sucks living on some ancient forgotten Islands up in the North Atlantic. No shop here sells Vita games, so my only option is the PSN store.. and because of EU taxes etc. the prices are so out of sync with the rest of the world, that I can´t get myself to buy any games..

Heh, I know how you feel. I bought a Vita (because it was on sale), but now I'm broke, so I don't have any games for it, except my PSP ones, most of which don't work (since I don't have a PS3 and can't transfer them).

To be fair that sounds like a bad purchasing decision on your part.

The euro tax on games IS ridiculous though

Just spotted this in the comments of the racing sale

Hi all,

Just wanted to give you a quick update regarding the VITA announcement…..We are just finalising everything, dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s and we want to make sure we can give you as much information as possible so at present I believe we should have everything ready early next week. Sorry for the delay and thank you for your patience

Looks like no news this week either!

Quick region question.

I fly out to Tokyo from Boston on the 19th of November. Will I be able to purchase/download Persona 4 from japan and access the US store?

if you have a US PSN account, you just need wifi access and you'll be able to access the US store and buy/download.

You won't be able to buy from the Japanese PSN store unless you have a Japanese PSN account.

You can buy the physical card from a store and play just fine, but if it has online using an online pass, you won't be able to redeem it because your PSN account is the wrong region. Likewise you won't be able to download any DLC for it.

You can access the US store no problem, but you probably won't be able to add funds from a US credit card to your wallet on an overseas IP. If you have money in your PSN wallet already (or use US PSN cards), it will be no problem.

I live in Japan, and any time I need to add funds to my US wallet I do it with PSN cards or using a VPN to pretend I'm in California before adding funds online.

Thanks, that's not too bad, should be able to clear enough space, I only have an 8GB card at the moment though. Waiting for the 32GB to drop in price a bit.

the game has terrible frame rate issues. I wouldn't bother even at the offer price. I got it when it hit £11.99 and after an hour I had had enough. the frame rate doesn't just dip, it plummets. At its best its obviously low (like 20ish Id guess) and very often drops a lot lower. Sometimes to a slideshow in certain heavily built up bits. The control of the carts also feels pretty sluggish when compared to other carting games (mario cart or sonic all star racing).

The game would be alright if it wasn't for the frame rate but I just find it unplayable. I reinstalled it last night as I was in the mood for a carting game again. Did 2 races and deleted it again. Its not only hard on the eyes but really effects your ability to control the vehicle.

The first few races trick you into thinking its not to bad but as soon as you hit the tracks with a lot more stuff going on is when it will drive you nuts. Its frustrating enough in these types of games where you are in the lead and an uber weapon takes you out at the last minute but when you have both that and the random frame skip where you suddenly appear falling off a cliff it will drive you bananas.

See I never had that bad issues. I finished the campaigns and only experienced really low frame rates twice.

It does however constantly drop between 30-20

you got the Download or the physical?

Maybe im just sensitive to the fps or something but im normally fine with 30ish FPS (i think wipeout runs great). This runs a lot slower.

It says the offer doesn't expire until this month on the 10th =/

I guess I'll give that a shot tomorrow.

I think the code comes by text message to the Vita itself, try going online quickly on 3G to make sure you're connected and it should pop up like a PSN message.

In regards to the Ys games on PSN, I recall one of them was better on PC, but forgot which one it was; could someone please provide which of the 3 it is?

I imagine you're referring to Oath In Felghana. The PSP version isn't bad by any means.

When Vikings Attack is great. At the third level you really need to be more careful about how your approaching things. Very nice 60fps native res graphics, too.

For anybody not sure about the depth, it's not as though it has a TON, but it has more than you would initially think. Read this PS Blog post from today. It will show you that there is some strategy and depth to the game. I can't believe it was only $6.99, too.

I'm sad that most of you guys here don't seem to be interested in it :(

I'm kind of interested in the PS3 version of NFS Most Wanted. I know that speed points are shared between the two versions, but is there some form of cross saving (unlocked cars maybe)?

not really.

It doesn't save any of the cars you've found, any of the races you've won or any of the mods you've earned/upgraded, or any of the gates/speed cameras/billboards you found.

But because it syncs speed points, it does unlock the Most Wanted races (but not the results of any MW races). so eg if on PS3 you have enough SP to unlock the first most wanted race, and then you race and beat the car - on the Vita that race will be unlocked for you to compete in, but you'll still have to race and win.

It saves speed camera speeds and billboard distances via autolog, but I don't think it saves how many of each you've discovered. Not sure what happens eg if you go through a speed camera on the PS3 at 100mph, then go through the same speed camera for the first time at 90mph on vita - does it still record your fastest time as 100mph, and just update the discovered count?
