Yes please, make a thread for the 'vita is doomed' / 'vita haz no games', 'PS+ is a rental service', PSP2, 'Vita only has ports' and similar trolling. The other Vita threads need it because they always end derailed to this shit.
I never go on metacritic. Only cited it that once as "wow people are enjoying it" really.
That is not the point.
Liking something is not, and should not, be classed as "justifying your purchase" just because others don't like it.
I've not played it and I probably never will. COD just isn't my kind of fun. But I'm not going to go and tell people who ARE enjoying it that they have shit for eyes and ears.
I wouldn't be surprised if COD Vita ends up being one of the worst games on the system according to Metacritic but still ends up selling more than 90% of other stuff.
Bet if you went in the Halo 4 thread and said "this game is utter shit, no question about it. Anyone that likes it is fooling themselves and just trying to justify their purchase" you would be banned within 5 minutes.
If only everyone applied this when RE6 came out. Hell, I hate nearly everything about ACIII and I don't tell the people in the OT anything like that (though they sure love to say that we're being hyperbolic).
Guys dont get banned for that in the COD thread?

Ofcourse. It's just not that fun to visit any vita thread. Hell how long before this one gets closed anyway and we're forced to find a new one.

More importantly than anything, 5-6 days until PS+ and FW2.00 depending on where you are.
And I'm still wondering I'f I'll ever get a Dead Nation, a Shatter, a Fancy Pants Adventures or a PixelJunk on the Vita. I hope yes to all three.

I was holding out hope that the first reviewer was being a bit harsh. It now turns out the first reviewer actually gave the game its best critic score so far. As much as we want to ignore them,their comments are still valued by a large swat of the gaming community. Bad sales is never a good thing for anyone . 8(

Its a bit late now but maybe they should have just dropped single player entirely

And thats exactly the problem with the Vita threads at the moment, it seems as long as you are taking a negative approach to it you can pretty much say whatever you want without the need for evidence or any sort of logic or consistency yet if someone calls out people for their shit or god forbid question the fact they are aloud to get away with such blatant misinformation or trolling they get banned!
I have been reading though the various daily Vita/Sony is doomed threads today (47:1, What is Sony doing ect) and it really does seem like Gaf is getting worse. For me Gaf is meant to be a gathering of informed games fans, yet more and more all I see on gaming side is either fanboys pretending to be otherwise, uninformed or wrong opinions on things that they only know about because they read some uninformed hate article or even that they have already formed their opinion and nothing is going to change it.
I make no attempts to hide the fact that for me, Sony is the company that tries the hardest and overall does far more good than bad compared to both Nintendo and Microsoft but I can appreciate that not everyone is into the same things. What I cant stand is the backlash that the Vita is getting for so many shitty reasons that either arent that big a deal like memory card prices (oh no I have to spend an extra £25/£30 on a good enough card on top of my £200 machine), lack of games (more and better rated games than 3DS at this point in its life) and so on.
And now it seems the new thing to latch onto is desperate Vita fans trying to justify their purchase, I dont need to justify my purchase as I have easily got my monies worth out of it with the large library of games I already own and will own in the future, but it seems that we arent aloud to call out peoples bullshit without either attacks or bannings!
It can get really hard to read some stuff on this forum at the moment, I know there is the thought of well just dont go into the threads but when you see more and more rubbish being thrown out as fact its hard not to get frustrated with it, especially considering that these same people are probably going to influence others with their terrible ideas.
Some of the reactions in the new bend project and tales of hearts R threads have been hilarious.

Definitely. There needs to be a "Vita Negativity Thread |OT|". I just don't want to see those threads anymore. Not because of blissful ignorance, but because they breed ignorance.
Take note even in Japan it's not even been a year, and US/EU far from a year yet. The current lineup for just less than a year is incredible compared to other platform's first year. So why do the others get a free ticket to ignore yet Vita gets trashed by these Western internet sites?
I don't know about others, but the lineup of just what's available right now will keep me busy for a long time.
My only gripe is the one account issue. Japan is getting some great little gems and apps that will not be localized. So I can't play them without jumping through hoops? There's even exclusive games between just US and EU. Come on. Really hope a firmware update lets us use other region games/DLC.
Hey, as much as I am not going to tell people who enjoy the game that they are stupid, I'm also not going to have a pop at reviewers for almost entirely collectively slamming it into the ground.
I'll not buy COD because I don't play COD, I'll probably not buy P4G either and that's getting crazy high scores.
Star Wars Force commander got generally good reviews in the 8/10 range but I couldn't stand it and thought it looked and played terribly (RTS are my fav genre too). I bought it because the reviewers all said it was great . I don't do that any more.
Similarly my brother and I went to the cinema to see There Will Be Blood after seeing it was getting rave reviews. BOTH of us were bored stupid and glad when it was over.
Opinions are, as people so often say, like arseholes. Everyone has one, and the same shit comes out of mine just like it does out of everyone elses.
COD should have had more maps, a better single player and blaa blaa blaa and it should't have been so expensive. But all of that won't detract from someone enjoying it, and those people shouldn't be told that their opinion is wrong.
Hell, I even like The Big Bang Theory!

The score is arguably deserved. It just stands out due to games traditionally being scored on a curve compared to other industries. A 29 is hardly out of the norm when you're looking at other media like movies or music.
There's a disjointed segment of film criticism that slobbers all over pretentious Paul Thomas Anderson movies. They've got blinders on when it comes to him.
I value movie reviews as much as the next guy but I know from experience what to expect from his films regardless of how universally praised they may or may not be.

I'd go ahead and get permission so that all future negative news gets routed in there as mandated by mods and not just the users. Definitely right with you on the negativity thread idea. Since all of them go in circles with the same repeated arguments, it'd be fitting to keep the same in one thread.
I don't get it though. They'll say they want Vita to do better, but at the same time spread all this negative doom about it, which has slowly and surely made sure many viewers, a major part of the "game forum/news site goer" crowd, do not even consider purchasing the Vita.
So in turn what I take from that behavior is that they do not want it to "do better", but instead want something to talk and argue about; a forum "timewaster". But their timewaster then breeds a group mentality that may or not be biased and unfair.
Look at the newspapers in UK and especially US. Somebody got killed, a market crashes, tragedy. Positivity is boring. Negativity is exciting for many Westerners, and while mom and dad read the newspapers, the teenage to 20's son will bask in video game negativity on a forum, the Vita being an easy target, with a domino effect of many others reading just like him. In turn, breeding a negative aura around the platform that was created via boredom and bias. Is that fair to the platform?
If Vita just simply did it's thing and existed and there was no flood of daily negativity among these Western news sites and forums, I think it'd do a little better in the West. The Japanese situation is mainly rooted in that the PSP is still getting it's last hurrah there.
Seriously, ask a mod. I mean those threads NEVER breed any meaningful discussion, why even have them? Same reason those list threads are semi-banned.

I don't see the mods approving any "negative" thread. I think negative news stories should get their own thread as they're news for better or worse. People posting Vita threads with any misinformation or needless panic should just be banned. They are contributing anything of value to the discussion of what is going on with Vita sales.
The problem is that apparently they arent banned and we arent allowed to call out for them to be banned (which isnt a bad thing. Ban calls are just breeding hostility most of the time). The negativity thread is an option at least.
I cant see them approving it either, but this whole mess ist just godawful for the forum climate, drawing out tons of bloodthirsty people, posting nonsensical comment after nonsensical comment.

It's for all these trolls and their gastric problems, that this evening i'm going to buy COD, NFSMW and maybe SHBOM. I'll enjoy them and remember how fortunate i am not having this mindset.

I really wish Gaf had a clear, concise and all-encompassing list of all the things that can get you banned. They don't so that the rules are more ambiguous, and this is really the main thing I don't like. I never post gifs because I'm scared they're probably banned.
About this whole Vita hate fest we've been seeing.. it's just bad PR, really. You guys are making the assumption that most people here on Gaf are informed? I beg to differ. I'm sure a sizeable amount of the people who come here are just lurkers, most will just see headlines, maybe read the OP and then a few posts and be on their merry way. Now here's the problem:
Someone sees: "VITA OUTSOLD BY 47-1 BY 3DS", followed by tons of posts with people crying "DOOOOOOMED! NO GAMEZ! DOOOOOOMED!"
Meanwhile, we're overwhelmed with games on Vita. Sure, there was a drought during the summer but now they just keep coming. There are plenty more to come as well. Japan hasn't had a big release since P4G but still - it's clear there are lots of games. Lots of them are fun and worth playing.
With Plus coming and all those freebies the entry costs of getting a Vita are even less, if you have plus you instantly get all those games at no additional cost. The sad part is I've seen a lot of people posting saying "It's a gorgeous handheld, the best I've ever seen, I just wish it was a bit cheaper."
If all people see about the Vita are doomsday headlines, all they're going to think is that it's not worth getting - when it clearly is. If the games out there aren't for you, I can understand that. If you're not into handhelds - I can understand that. But to say there are no games, and that it's not worth getting is simply ignorance.

That is exactly my issue with that. Gaf has a responsibility to inform, but these threads pop up for miniscule things that do nothing but breed ignorance.
I've just noticed on Amazon that they are offering £18 for MGS HD Vita. I only paid £11 for it brand new because they cocked up and sent it a day late so I got £10 off lol.
Still not played it, not even put it in the Vita yet.

Exactly. It's the opposite of what company PR is. It's the spreading of negativity, a lot of which is biased. And it's more effective than any PR a company could hope to achieve, spreading through all Western forums and news sites that then breeds a group attitude.
I'm still all for a "Vita Negativity |OT|" mandated by mods to route all the "news" and discussion there. GAF is becoming less and less serious the more these things come up. Especially the "should they just kill [platform] already?" style threads of late with little to no real backing behind the opening post.
Yes, it's not healthy for the mind to constantly be surrounded by this hostility and biased belittling. With the advancement of the "social web" in the recent years, now with almost everything from the amateur to professional news sites having a comments section, this has bred a very ugly amplification of entitlement; festering on negativity out of boredom.
