So I was lowballing my GS trade-ins early to nobly get $50, but I'm getting $127 for everything, aaaaaaa. Now I REALLY don't know that to buy. D:

Well, which games DO you already have?

Okay, friends.

Which orange skin do you like best?

Or..

I'm a sucker for burnt orange, like the bottom skin, but I really dig the brighter orange of the top, too...

Yup the lighter orange.

However the bottom one is pretty nice as well since its a deeper orange on black. Like a halloween thing.

Burnt orange.

I'm thinking of picking up both Lego games if Amazon PM's GS price on them for Black Friday. Glad I cancelled my preorder for Lego LoTR now, wouldn't have had time for it anyways.

I'm interested in how good/bad these are. I've never played a LEGO game, so impressions would be welcome. :)

Is Ragnarok a deep game? I wouldn't mind having some action/rpg action, but is the game big and meaty?

Sort of.
It's only deep if you like grinding for specific drops/skills. The combat system isn't particularly deep (more or less so depending on the class) and the amount of customization is fairly tame in comparison to similar games.
You can only "level up" by beating story chapters. Any other stat change is determined by the abilities that come with your weapons and cards.

I haven't finished the story mode, but I've gotten at least 40 hours our of it so far.

My check this week was surprisingly glorious thanks to a good 26 hours of OT, so I finally broke down and bought a 32GB memory card for $79 on Amazon. I'm thinking of buying Ragnarok Odyssey digital, but I also have to make sure I save room for PlayStation All Stars next week, which I'm thinking of pre-ordering as well, instead of waiting for Amazon.

ZHP looks really awesome, but that $30 price tag was kind of nuts for me. I'll probably bite at $15, though.

Here's my comments on RO (you really should check the OT for the game for other impressions as that's the point of those threads):

Pros
- Challenging
- Skill based progression similar to Monster Hunter
- Online multiplayer
- Loot is [usually] rewarding, typically in the form of cards

Cons
- Camera can be a bit wonky at times
- Challenge can become a bit much at times, sometimes to the point of feeling unfair (multiple enemies stun-locking you to death)
- Online can get quite laggy at times
- Loot and crafting progression is incredibly slow

So OK, the game is a LOT of fun. If you're a fan of Monster Hunter or Gods Eater Burst, you'll likely enjoy this game. Controls feel more similar to GEB than MH, fyi. The way you customize your character (stat/skill wise) is through cards. They have abilities like Atk Lv1 or Fast Recover or Poison Resist. You combine these cards in your armor to provide a slew of boosts (or "debuffs"/tradeoffs that some cards can have).

You also find and craft weapons that have skills on them. Ideally, finding a weapon that gives you two strong positive stat or trait boosts is what you want to hunt down.

The major issues of this game revolve around the loot progression, though. The camera can be a bit off, but that's manageable (not excusable, but it's something that you can at least figure out in time). The massive enemy groups becomes a bit ludicrous at times (Kill 100 Fire Giants in 30 minutes GO!), and the fact that many of these enemies will take you down in only a few hits, AND the fact that many can stun-lock you...Well, it's rough. More frustrating than game breaking, though.

But crafting and loot progression...Getting a good weapon to drop seems like a rare occurrence. In the 20 hours I've played, I've had one weapon drop that I could legitimately use. I'm not saying I haven't SEEN other Bows, but they've typically had mediocre bonuses or lower attack than my bow.

You also get materials and cards. Materials come from enemies and environment barrels and boxes. You can also break boss monster parts for their horns, gauntlets, tail fur, etc. The REAL problem with crafting is that you only get new recipes as you progress through the story. This presents you with a stale progression that's not limited by your hunting and gathering but by the difficulty of the mission you're currently on. If you get stuck (which you will), it's not a matter of saying, "Well I guess I'll go grind some materials for that armor I want." Monster Hunter crafting blows this game's system out of the water.

I'm a bit tired this morning, so I apologize for this little writeup being all over the place. The two most important things about what I've said:

1) Skill based progression similar to Monster Hunter and Gods Eater Burst (and similar controls, too)

2) Loot and crafting stagnates quickly and isn't as rewarding as other similar titles

That being said, it's definitely worth $40.

Yes, it's meaty. Yes, it's got content. But there's a few things holding it back. If that STYLE is what you're looking for, Gods Eater Burst would be a better investment. If you're genuinely interested in the game, you won't be disappointed at the price point.

So I guess it's time to go get a 32GB card. Perform the backup and restore before the 19th.... Love me some PS+.

Mine will be here tomorrow. I need to make sure I backup everything this weekend. Thankfully, GW2 patch drops, so I can just start that sucker up and leave her be.

I'm sure this has been asked before but anyway:

You can have different games stored in different vita memory cards and switch between them without trouble, right?

My 16GB is full after Assassin's Creed, so I'm planning to get another one for future games like All Starts and the PS+ freebies.

Bawwww, too slow for me. I give up xD EDIT - THIS MEANS A VITA LAUNCH WOO TIME TO PARTY:

EDIT: THEY JUST POSTED THIS ON THEIR FB AFTER MY COMMENT:

Me: WOOO DOES THIS MEAN VITA?!!!?!?

Sine Mora: How about next week?

Me: OMFG YES SO EXCITED

I'll buy it for a 3rd time, easily.
Do we know if it's a cross buy? Vita/PS3 for $15?
God, I hope the install isn't too large -- I have about 7gb left and I need to get JSR, GR, WipEout, FFWotL, and SM...

I actually wanted to get AssCreed done before Ps+ hits, but I already put like 15 hours into it and I am still at sequence 4 (which is like half of the game?).

Pfft.

Oh btw, anyone went for achievements? What are the MP "fights" for the trophy? Each individual fight with a single soldier? Or the overall battles/rounds that end once each day?

Also what is the MP trading achievement about?

Wtf,

Never heard of this game, looks awesome. Hopefully only $10

It'll be $15, I believe. Worth every penny. Game is FANTASTIC.
Not sure if it's cross-buy.

was asked the day before yesterday. ;-)

and yes you can, but don't be surprised finding your games sorted by BLUS/BLES/etc. codes when switching. :-)

Ended up getting a $50 and $20 PSN card. The $20 is reserved for Okami HD, but I'm torn on what to buy with the $50. My choices are either NLKS, 2 PSP Games (Ragnarok Tactics, Persona 2 or FFIII) or waiting for Tecknica. @_@

Fights are every single soldier fight, yeah. The economic missions can be done with the icons that are on each continent, separate from the nodes.

Oh, now that is useful. Much appreciated, thanks.

Thanks :) Need to figure that trading thing out, didnt even notice the MP has trading.

It really is ludicrous how many quality games we've been given on the Vita and we're still in Year 1.
Who gives a shit if these aren't "system sellers" or "mindshare winners"?
This is quite simply the finest year of titles any portable gaming system has seen... ever.

Soooo getting this.

Fucking hell, so much to buy/get next week on Vita :/ VITA HAS TOO MANY GAMEZ.

I got umvc in the mail
Just discovered this sine mora game im soo gonna get
Oddworld strangers wrath in a few weeks,

And lets not even talk about the ps+ game, all of which i do not own yet.

Now to find a way to make it all fit in my included 4gig card.

because sales matter and we cant enjoy because Sony hasnt announced games that are coming in 2014 and beyond

So three out of the four nominees for best handheld/mobile game at the VGA's are Vita games.

LBP, Gravity Rush, and Sound Shapes.

That should get some people raging.

Hehe.

Shmups are ok but wow that's some amazing art

Best part is that while some background elements and effects like shadows have been removed, the game will be visually a similar experience to the console version(s).

Also, according to Wikipedia:
This version will contain an exclusive new hero, Wilhelmine Muller, coming directly from the fantastic world of "Under Defeat". The presence of Wilhelmine also means a brand new special weapon and new chronomes, available only on Vita.

Technika First, New Little King's Story second, then buy the others in whatever order you feel like.
