Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

Well it does kind of suck to always know in the back of my mind that chances are good my Vita isn't going to work 20 years from now. But let's face it, it's a Sony product. It would fail for one reason or another long before 20 years pass.

Dude. In 20 years from now... or lets make it 30.. all of my PS2 collection games will be rendered unusable because of degradation over time.

Persona 3 FES, Dark Cloud 1 & all the other fun and great RPG originals that are worth something... *poof*

Mortality sucks, especially of the ones dying before you *premature "RIP, PS2 collection."*

Don't worry. Microsoft will save us all, by buying up the entire PS1/PS2/PS3/PSP/Vita back catalog and putting them up on XbawksLive for download at reasonable prices when Sony dies next year sometime.

Actually -

Imagine this bros. ace combat, looks amazing with great graphics, can use analogs or gyro to manoeuvre. Back touch for firing the machine guns, left trigger for zoom and right trigger for fring missiles

The gyro/backtouch utilization sound like the worst thing ever.

I guess the bigger issue is the blue pixels during faster making the color off.
Might be wrong on this, but I thought that all the OLED elements are technically white and use color filters to make them red, green, and blue. Supposedly it ensures that all the color elements will more or less degrade at the same rate and also ensures better color accuracy.

I'm just learning about this OLED thing...

Are you guys concerned about this? Will we be screwed in a year when our colors are all off?

I hope Sony offers a screen replacement.

Here is more info for those interested:
Yes, well by then your battery will probably be so bad that you are forced to inevitably replace it to one of the newer models which is probably going to be superior in literally every possible way imaginable(plus I bet that there will be a phone model by then) . So yes do I need to say anything more.

And don't get me wrong guys, I have bought into the Vita. Got my 32GB card and multiple Vita games for it.

I just hope it lives long enough to get a revision with an LCD screen.

To be frank, it should have had an LCD screen to begin with, and the first thing Sony should do to lower the cost is ditch the OLED. It's nice, but so incredibly superfluous. The only reason it exists is to try and one-up smartphone screens in some way, and clearly that isn't a selling point at all for most people.

Glad it doesnt have an lcd screen. Not a big fan of lcd at all. Well except for pc screens. Kinda glad they went with oled. Screen longevity is not an issue for me personally. Only thing I wonder about is how long those analog stick will last over the years.

Haha, that is actually my biggest concern as well :p And the reason I still properly havent played SSD.

It may not be a selling point, but its always the first thing people point out when I show them the Vita or they see it. I'd much rather have OLED than LCD. But that's just me.

See, now that's what you should be focusing on not the damn screen which is really all about preference (personally LOVE SAMOLED screens which was one of the selling points for SGS3). Personally I wish that they went ahead and made the same design as the 3DS stick feels more durable plus better range ie easier to aim atleast from my experience(which isn't saying much since I only tried it out in stores a couple of times :P).

Don't get me wrong, I "like" the OLED. It's a cool feature and it makes the Vita stand out. It's also way more expensive than LCD, and the benefit does not outweigh the cost -- it's not even close for me, and (evidently) the average consumer. I have a BC-PS3 too, but I paid almost $500 for it. Sony has a habit of bloating its hardware with nice, but overly expensive components, and it's not doing them any favours.

OLED>LCD always and forever don't know where the argument started and I don't curr.

Vita will always and should always have an OLED I'm here for QUALITY. If y'all want SD games, PSP graphics and underpowered hardware you know where to get THAT.

Here's an OLED question, after reading that Blue OLED's have a lower life then other colours, would it be beneficial to minimise the amount of blue on the screen to increase the life of it? (By changing backgrounds and such?)

it just ain't worth it, mang

better tech is not always the correct approach

I actually asked that myself as well, especially considering the standard background is blue.

Well they did state once (don't remember where) that they were making a cheaper model, which might mean ditching the OLED screen, but let's be honest what would you rather ditch the OLED or rear touch pad?

If and when Sony does a Vita revision, I support ditching the OLED. The color saturation is so over the top, and the blacks aren't all that black (not even close to the Super AMOLED Plus screens I've seen on various Samsung devices), so it ruins the point of OLED anyway.

I hope they go with those godly IPS LCD screens on the new HTC phones and the new Lumia 920.

As far as they give me the option to purchase the SAMOLED/OLED one since it's all about preference after all.

Vita 2 - now instead of a back touch it has a transparent SAMOLED screen.

God I want transparent screens guys. Every year they are shown off but where are they for commercial market?!

Someone save my sanity from the other thread. Trying to get the MP AC:L trophy is leaving me with too much downtime.

I should play WDIDTDTML. Actually I'll just talk about it in my next post. Yes. Good idea. Small post about actual gameplay impressions and strategy considerations coming coming up.

Hey you. Yeah, you. Buy ZHP :D

give us the titbit's

It's a bit hard to understand the Sony guy. He's a Japanese man who has been living in China for years speaking English... I'd much rather he have spoken whatever language he was most comfortable with and having subtitles.

But what if you could buy it now for $20?! O:

Oh, really? I thought it was near $30 still! That does push me towards it a bit more.

:p

20 seems like a nice price, but then its still 50% off next week, making it 10 bucks. I could either pick up P4Golden(35-40), ZHP(10) and Prinny(5) next week. Or only P4Golden and ZHP (for 20).

I'd need to buy a new card for more purchases, which I am actually leaning towards because of the Persona sale, but we'll see.

Not on PSN, still $30 there. ;_;

Gamestop has a download code for $20.
