Just started playing Gravity Rush. My fuck, this game seems awesome as hell. What problems did the game have again that caused many to say it was just an overrated game with a lot of problems?

I loved it very so too much, if anything I think it's underrated and got unfair treatment by many of the Vita owners. (Kazerei..I know you are here)

but if you want "problems" for me only problem was it's very very short and for other I think touch stuff during boss fights and repetitive challenges.

Game was great but like most things, the vocal minority makes people think the opposite.

Oh, it's time for me to come out of the woodwork! :P

The first two hours were a great IMO, but then it just kind of dragged on, and the shoddy controls and combat became more apparent. I wrote more about it in the Vita game review thread. What started out as a unique new experience ultimately disappointed.

i feel the same way, but in the end i thought it was still a good game

hey guysimighthave missed a post on thiswherecan i browse the apps? i just got fireworks, are there any other worthwhile small apps/games like thatto get? cheers

sry im typing on vita

Yeah I just sorta fell out of love with Gravity Rush. Controls I guess? I also didn't like the structure all that much. I was expecting something like Crackdown and got something more akin to Assassin's creed (in structure, not gameplay).

It should be said though that there are A LOT of vitabros™ who absolutely loved every second of the game, platinumed it and have continuously said it will be near the top of their end of the year lists. So it certainly isn't universal disappointment

that was fast..GR posts must be your Bat-Signal or something. :P

I think I'm one of the few that had a hard time with the controls for Gravity Rush. Found it frustrating. I'll give it another go eventually.

Fuck, this last piece of Silver (so I only have one more bounty set to complete after this) simply isn't dropping. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.

I just got down setting up and playing Uncharted on my vita. Here is my review:

10/10 Greatest handheld ever made. I was very critical of the vita for the past year but was BLOWN away when I started playing this thing. I don't think i'll ever play an ios game again and the elegance and design of this system puts the 3DS to shame. Considering it's price and the fact that a good size chunk of the library is F2P with PS+ people are being idiots if they don't buy this thing.

I like it quite a bit. I like the style and the method of storytelling. I like exploring the city and collecting gems with all the different gravity mechanics. At first I liked the combat, too.

But now that I'm near the end of the game, I don't enjoy the combat as much. There have been some really clunky areas/missions. Without spoiling anything, there have been sections which were just not intuitive or fun at all. Overall, though, I think it's a really cool experience. I really like what they were going after and how much of their vision they were able to achieve. I think a sequel could be really awesome if they improve the formula.

How's Uncharted? I heard that game has some problems as well.

A sequel is in development?

I doubt that Toyama and his team will ever touch the Siren IP again, and iirc Toyama hinted that a sequel of GR might be on the way..so its most likely they are working on that right now.

well every game has problems.

and U:GA is fine when you get used to the handheld controls, and its better than Uncharted 3.

I'm loving Gravity Rush so far. Wish there was a way to redo the comic scenes.

would have been a fantastic PS3 game :(

*cough* fixed that for you *cough*

Gotta love opinions. ;)

It's a good Uncharted game, once you get used to the Vita controls. A fun ride and impressive for a handheld launch title.
I still put 1 & 3 above it, but it's still solid. I loved the swipe to climb mechanic and will miss that if I ever play another Uncharted on a home console.
Lots of people love the gyro aiming, but I wasn't a fan... I think the controls just take time to adjust to. The analog sticks have a shorter throw or something with their smaller size and all... so when you're playing something that feels like it's on a console, the aiming is different than you'd expect.

Better than 2? Sorry if I can't believe that.

Is the game available for PS+ users?

It is, from where I'm sitting.
But I'll tell you without hesitation or doubt in my mind that Uncharted 2 is the worst game in the series. ;)
A lot of people who didn't like 3 do the same thing. Based on that, I think it's safe to say that Golden Abyss isn't the worst Uncharted game?

And yes, Uncharted Golden Abyss is currently free to PS+ users in EU or NA.

From what I played, I'd put it the other way round. Uncharted 2 was the best game in the series. UC3 had too much cinematic fluff, and UC1 had too much senseless combat scenes that endlessly repeated themselves.

I'd say UC2 -> UCGA -> UC1 -> UC3

There is a higher focus on exploration than on fighting endless waves of enemies, and I really, really, really enjoy that.

im on chapter 2 of uncharted. loving it. not a big fan of most of the touch ctrls. but getting used to gyro aim. game is beautiful.

have some screen shots will post.

so far ill give the game a yes, out of yes, depends, and no ratings, this is my first vita game so i really dont know what to expect.

Man, your anti-vita posts used to drive me batty.

Welcome :D

Why did it only manage an 80 on meta when all the others managed much higher scores?

Vita tax. We sound bitter when we say that, but thats exactly whats happening. Games that have the SAME issues across multiple platforms get negative points for it in reviews if they are on Vita but those issues arent mentioned in reviews for the other platforms at all. Or that touch screen interactions are being thrashed just... because. Or the fact that people always seem to pick either "Its not enough of a handheld experience" or "Its not enough of a console experience" and subtract points for that instead of trying to judge the games on their own merit.

Many reviewers have no idea what they actually want from those games. Its like a running gag at this point.

I found cutting vegetation with the touch screen annoying. Just let me press the square button!

Well..look at AC3:L for an example. it got trashed heavily in reviews for flaws and gameplay Mechanics things that AC3 has and suffer from too but only few reviewers mentioned the problems in AC3 reviews.

Got my Amazon Black Friday bundle Tuesday. But haven't been able to REALLY mess with it until now. PSN is "ramurabb"

Games I have are:

Ragnarok Odyssey
Playstation All Stars (beat Arcade with Toro & Kratos)
Virtue's Last Reward (have to finish 999 first)
Need For Speed:MW (shipping as we speak; here by Tuesday)
Motorstorm RC
and the 5 Vita titles on PS+

The White Vita is a lovely piece of kit, and my god was the Hori Screen Protective Filter easy to apply!!! It's been hit or miss with the PSP filters where I would either get it flawless (mostly doing it for others), or get minor but still annoying bubbles in spots. Happy to be a Vitabro, and shall plug good games to some other Vita adopters at work (already recommended Trails in the Sky!)

I thought it was unique to the game and not universal with AC3? At least from what I've played of Liberation the reviews seem pretty accurate. It's not that well made of a game(thus far)

You are free to have that opinion, but then the question still remains why AC3 didnt get points subtracted for having the exact same issues. Bugs, Framerate issues.. It even adds some more issues like a terribly slow start. Those issues at least arent "unique" to AC:L. Many would even agree that the lead protagonist in AC3:L is way more interesting than the one in AC3. But that apparently doesnt count in reviews for a Vita game.

And while I am not saying that AC3:L should necessarily light the review charts on fire, a disparity of almost 20 points between the 2 games is just... ridiculous.

it's "flawed" just as much as AC3 and share some of the problems, but in AC3 case it got a free pass in reviews.

Yeah the moment the 2.00 update hit and Black Friday came raining down within a week of each other, it was near impossible not to buy one.

Now to wait on my memory card. :(

I'd say it's more like the AAA bonus isn't applied to Vita titles. ACL isn't that great of a game (its bugs are mind bogglingly frequent, the audio is the worst I've ever heard). Halo 4, AC3, Black Ops and other big games on the other hand get hit with hyperboles and convenient commissions.

Congratz new Vita sister.

don't forget to get Persona 4 Golden when you get your mc.(and NFSMW,Zero Escape,VT4,Gravity Rush,Mutant Blobs)

Seriously, that's why I dislike Uncharted 2. In the first (and some in the third) the combat/fights are nicely interspersed with puzzles and exploration and that sort of relic hunter. Uncharted 2 is more like a big budget summer action movie -- it's more Gears of War than it is Indiana Jones type adventure. (I blame the focus on the competitive multiplayer... if your spending all that development time on competitive multiplayer, it only makes sense that the majority of the single player also heavily uses it to get the highest return on investment.)

Or that way round, yeah. I also have my issues rating the game much higher than 75% for the reasons you mentioned, but we are generally referring to the score disparity here I think. You are right though.

I agree on UC1 still feeling like a treasure hunter(therefore UC1->UC3), but come on.. UC1 had easily the worst moments in the entire series with enemies respawning in a location, horde after horde and I cant tell you how much I hate this design technique. They had more directed setpieces in UC2, but at least they werent as monotonous as the spawn fight areas in UC1. At least I was entertained during the fights in UC2. In UC1 they simply felt liker a filler.

LMAO, that was weird. Run and gun someone in chapter 9. Get slammed into the roof by the cover they were taking popping in or something I guess. Kinda wish I screenshotted it, but I couldn't move fast enough for it. :(

eh, imo, those are such a minor thing that it really shouldn't matter that much, other touch implementation like touch climbing which I think is pretty neat and actually use them some time, also, the game is designed for gyro aiming, I can't imagine playing that game entirely using analog

except for the final boss qte section, now that one is pretty damn bad and worth docking some points for.

Yep, handheld games don't get $20 million dollar dev budgets, and $40 million dollar marketing campaigns so opinions can't be swayed so easily. Western handheld game reviews are especially dire due to mobile's influence.

I thought the problem with the Liberations character is that although she and the setting is a lot more interesting than in 3, the developers didn't use it to the best of their ability and instead glossed over much of her story and the themes present during that time. At least from when I was playing that criticism did hold true as she has next to no backstory and the slavery theme is notably absent outside of a few random slaves working about. Then again I've only played an hour of the game, so I don't know if this changes at all.

I do know that AC3 is supposed to have tons of bugs and framerate issues(although Im unsure of how bad the framerate issues are in comparison to Liberation, as they are BAD)

Yes, but do please know that you are in the extreme minority with your opinion in particular.

Doesn't make it any less valid. ;)
I'm sure there's lots of things where I might be a minority opinion, but I'll be one of those vocal minorities as much as I possibly can.
Totobeni : P3P :: corrosivefrost : Uncharted 2

Disagree.
I don't recall any Uncharted ever having endless waves of enemies; they aren't the Call of Duty games. :)
What I do remember is hating the last few areas of Uncharted 2 because they felt like they'd never end... it just drags on and on in the monastery and afterwards and after the twist (which is another reason to dislike that game, IMO). Also, I think it's the only Uncharted to make you play the same annoying section twice, but with a slightly different perspective (I really hated that part, so much so that when you're in the boat graveyard in Uncharted 3, there's a spot that feels like when you're climbing the train ... I thought the game was going to tank from there).
