Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

Is Little Deviants really that bad?

I have it waiting for me at my parents place. I enjoyed the demo, from what I hear it's fun - for a collection of mini games basically. It's a great way to showcase all the Vita's features from what I've heard as well. It was like 10$ on that lockerz website, no idea if it is still though. At 10$ for a card I took a bite :P

Edit: TOP OF THE PAGE! BUY DOKURO, SINE MORA, STRANGER'S WRATH, NFS: MOST WANTED, ALUNDRA... you know what, just buy everything. Seriously.

Why can´t i find Mortal Combat free on Plus? It´s not on the plus Vita store? Does it come out first in January?

it's just a small D-rated iOS game with back touch gimmick, nothing more nothing less. avoid it.

Damn what a wasted opportunity. Sony put Bigbig studio on it and then closed them down. Poor Bigbig. Sony have closed 3 studios this year that have developed Vita games. Good show Sony, you twats.

What's the opinion on the Gravity Rush DLC? Worth $4 each? Or ignore it for now and wait to see if it goes on sale? Or it's poorly done and ignore altogether? I've been putting more time into the game and I'm about a third through so starting to think I might need to buy some of that DLC, especially since at least one one of them would be available within my game with how far I am.

Also, I know Dokuro gets a lot of love but does it pick up quite a bit? I'm really early, only having completed twelve stages, but I'm not really getting into it just yet. It reminds me of Exit in that I feel like I'm mostly just doing busywork and that the solutions to things aren't difficult but more just about taking the time to actually move around and step on switches or carry the princess. I'm sure more elements get added (fire stuff?) but I'm hoping it picks up and becomes more interesting soon.

DLC sales on PSN are almost non-existant. You'll be waiting for a long time, if ever, for that to go on sale. Seriously. I'm still waiting on a sale for the Dead Space 2 DLC that doesn't force all the extra weapons packs and stuff on you (they had it once, but you had to buy the DLC bundle and it was twice the price if not more than the DLC chapter is normally). They've had rare sales on Minerva's Den (Bioshock 2) and Undead Nightmare, but those were also one time only and took forever.

With all that said, I paid the $12 before I even played the game and thought it was worth it. I stand by my opinion that if I had purchased them post game completion, I'd have been pissed off and felt it was too expensive, but since the game was $10 for me and maybe free for you, $12 isn't bad.

The story type missions add to the story a bit and fit in during specific time-frames within the game (they're not available from the start). Each DLC nets you 2 story missions, 2 challenges, a new costume, and 6 trophies, I think. So that's not terrible for $4 each. Doing them as part of the story during my playthrough made it feel like it enriched the main game where if I just kind of jumped into them post game, I think I'd have thought they were disappointing. Additionally, they allow you to level up your powers more (increasing the max levels) as well as give you additional chances to earn gems for leveling. Add all that to the fact that you can run around in the spy/maid/military costumes for a decent part of the game and they're totally worth it (again, IMO, only if you incorporate them into your playthrough as they become available).

Umm can someone help me with the boat hopping challenge in gravity rush in downtown?

Search this thread for my posts, I posted some advice to kikikiki (sorry, forget the exact name) that he thought was helpful.
It was along the lines of (1) Practice so you know where the points are, (2) use gravity slide in the arch, (3) fast fall the first 2 points, but use gravity kick on the rest as it will bounce you up off the point and aim you in the general direction of the next point, (4) when you reach the next to last point, for gold, the final checkpoint (on the ship) will be directly below you.

Is it just me or do some games drain the battery more than others? Been playing New Little King's Story (physical) and it just seems to drain the battery. Then again maybe I'm just losing track of time. Really loving the game so far despite some struggling with sending out commands.

Yes. At least Vita games do more than emulation games (PSP/PSVita). Probably also depends on if they use the network. LBP Vita is an aboslute battery hog as far as my experience goes, and I think it drains the battery life quicker than Gravity Rush did.

Why can´t i find Mortal Combat free on Plus? It´s not on the plus Vita store? Does it come out first in January?

[joke] Because you should be looking for Mortal Kombat instead?[/joke]
What region are you? If you're in NA, it's not a plus game and isn't even eligible for the holiday sale discount(s).
If you're in AU/Germany, you're not getting it free, you're getting Lego Batman PSP instead.

i've felt the same way playing uncharted, not sure what it is... i think the more apps you leave running in the bg as well hurts batt life.

Going to ask quickly here before I search...I have one account only...got the white Vita when AC L came out, with 4 GB memory card...just got a 8 GB card yesterday for XMas,can I just switch cards back and forth...like use the new one for future stuff and keep whats on the 4GB so far,or do I need to transfer everything over to the 8GB?

Yea I make sure the game I'm playing is the only app running. I've even switched to flight mode, and that didn't seem to have any affect.

walking dead could very possibly come to vita.

as could an Uncharted: Golden Abyss 2 - though i bet itd be 2014 for that. as well as a gravity rush sequel.

im still holding out hope for dead space or bioshock. whether its a full fledged game or a spin off....

I think we will get Gravity Rush 2,because what else Team floating moe will work on? Siren?

not sure about more Uncharted, but I guess Bend Studio might do something similar tho like The Last of US spin off/prequel.

But honestly I just want a new Syphon Filter from Bend (Dark Mirror and Logan Shadow are so freaking amazing)

No need to transfer if you're happy with it.
One warning is that it may screw up your bubble order and backgrounds when you swap the cards. But someone in here was checking on that and don't know if the newer FW levels have done something to fix this.
If you're not super OCD about bubble order or wallpapers, give it a shot. :)

Europe. It should have been up for a while. I can´t find it on my PS3 PS+ store. I live in Denmark so i should get it.

So, in AC:L...

Is it just me, or are the touch/motion controls difficult? I have been able to pickpocket, but still don't completely understand targeting and why sometimes I am able to activate the pickpocket, and other times I can't; Sometime I target the citizens easily, other times the "hand" meter never seems to come.

Also, when you point the camera at a bright light....I don't even fully understand what I am suppose to be doing when spinning the dial. Frustrating.

Enjoying the game otherwise though, feels like AC.

Just got a Vita yesterday... Excited to be a part of the club.

Any accessories I should get? Screen protector?
Congrats and yes you should get the hori grips and especially the screen protector since the screen gets scratched easily,i have neither of them.

Congrats and Welcome to the Sisterhood. (buy Persona 4 Golden)

you need a microfiber cloth to clean the screen.
The official stand/cradle is very useful (and you get better audio using its audio output)
a card case is a must if you will buy retail/boxed games.
Thrustmaster Vita case if you are taking your Vita outside often.

Hori screen protector is great and pretty cheap.
I also have/use a Hori silicone case which does a good job in adding a little protection to the unit and gives it some extra grip for me around the sides.
I recommend the pull 'n go folio for your case -- it has space for 20 or so retail games and 2 extra memory cards in the big case and holds the vita in a nice little pop out case that can hold an additional 4 retail games.
Don't skimp on memory card if you haven't bought one. Most people find it fills up more quickly than anticipated and wish they got a bigger card... looking at a 16 for $58? Probably worth it to get the 32 for $80.
PS+ is worth it. But you'll need a decent sized memory card if you want to take advantage of all of it at once.
There's some good games on sale this week for PS+ members; Unit 13 is $13 and that's pretty good I think. Try the demo. If you like the MGS games, MGS 2/3 HD bundle/collection is on sale for $17.19. Hot Shots Golf is $8.74 and Dokuro (cute puzzle platformer, great game) is still on sale for $9.99.

Just realised my Vita is almost two months old (yay!) and already have quite the collection, if I may say so, but still don't know what it's cartridges look like.

It's going to be another uncharted,TLOU is a new IP and bringing a spinoff this early won't be good.

Mortal Kombat is AWESOME on Vita! I've been playing it all morning. GREAT port!
Looks pretty crappy though,right?

im considering to buy PS+. can anyone recommend it? is there anything to regard?

It is great for a Vita owner right now. Lots of great games at the moment that are worth the money. That and the extra money off games is great. The money I saved the last few weeks on rayman,EP and golf paid for a few months alone. That and cloud storage is really big IMO right now for the Vita. Makes backing up game saves much easier.

Thanks for the advice everyone... I will look into the Hori screen protector.

Honestly I wanted one solely to play Persona 4- It's going to be my first time playing through it. I also saw the tantalizing PS+ freebies and I just couldn't say no.

I'd also like to sink my teeth into Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, since Black is one of my favorite games of all time. How does it hold up?

While I don't use a screen saver I think it is a good idea for most people. I don't like the feel of them and can live with some scratches. The must have accessory for me is grips. It is day and night playing a game that uses the sticks and the top triggers like uncharted.

It's 30FPS but looks nice and plays decently.

I think it looks pretty good. The character models are kinda hit or miss. Some look fine, some look LOL (like Scorpion), but I the background runs ok and it runs at 60 fps. The framerate is much more important.

The worst part is that the UI is not native res.

Toto and corrosivefrost, thanks for the replies. I've already told myself that I should likely buy the DLC since the game was free and I'd like to support the developers but I really just wanted to make sure the content wasn't trash. Sounds like it may not be anything super special but fairly decent so I'll likely buy it before I start back up. I also really like the idea of it helping with upgrades, too.

Is AC:L really that bad? I'm debating whether to keep it or trade it in for something else while I can still get some value for it since I been busy playing all of the free games that I've got so far to try it out.

This looks rough but i hope in motion this wouldn't be much of an issue,i think i'll be getting it later.

It's pretty good how far are you into the game?

Got my Vita earlier this week but didn't open it until yesterday. Just started playing Persona 3 which I downloaded during that sale a long time ago. Had a few other ps1 and psp games that I can't download yet since I only have a 4gb card. Also got Virtues Last Reward for free and thinking about selling/giving away Call of Duty since I have no interest in it.

Anyways, i really like the machine from the small time i've messed around with it. Hoping I can get more memory sticks so I can turn this thing into the ultimate jrpg handheld. Been looking through the "psp rpg's" thread and making a list of what I may get in the near(pun) future. This thing is beautiful.

Gameplay is solid, but it is incredibly rough-looking. Even in motion.

It's probably the worst looking Vita game that I've played.

No problem.

You could always just buy one that would be available and see what you think of it. They're pretty similar in terms of the amount of content... so if you buy the maid pack (that's the first one that becomes available in the story, around chapter 7), you could play it and if you like it, grab the military and spy packs.

np, we're here to help. we have a (mostly ;)) great community here.
and with NGS+, it depends on if you can handle the change from 60fps locked to 30fps with dips. a lot of people in here recommend it, but a buddy of mine recently gamefly'ed it and was very unhappy... then again, he's very sensitive to the whole 60fps vs 30fps and hates when his action games aren't 60fps locked.

im considering to buy PS+. can anyone recommend it? is there anything to regard?

The only downsides to PS+ are as follows:
(1) If you stick with it (and you should), you'll find that it becomes incredibly irritating when they start giving out games you paid for not too long before or when you've been with it long enough that the content that comes out doesn't do anything for you.
(2) It's sort of a suck you in, keep you paying thing -- it adds an incredible amount of value... ridiculous even, if you own a ps3. But once you have like 50+ games "rented" via the service, it kind of makes sense to keep paying the $5 or so it costs per month (if you purchase a 12 month sub).

Gameplay is solid, but it is incredibly rough-looking. Even in motion.

It's probably the worst looking Vita game that I've played.

(1) Better it PLAY right then look good.
(2) There are much worse looking Vita games
(3) In fact, IMO of course, the only really bad parts of the graphics are when they do the close ups pre and post fight. Especially on characters with exposed skin (johnny cage, sheeva) or characters with lots of hair (sindel). At 60fps on a small screen? It looks fine. It's not graphically impressive in any regard, but for hitting 60fps and retaining the gameplay of the console games, it looks absolutely fine.

Sound Shapes is really good, right? I feel like it's something I ought to really want, but I can never bring myself to buy it.

I wanted to love Sound Shapes. I love Jonathan Mak and Queasy Games. I love Everyday Shooter (it was my first PSN purchase) and I kind of want to buy the PSP version (but not for $10). But overall, I found Soundshapes disappoining, even with the day one PS+ discount.
If you want to make levels with music, a la LBP, then it's worth it. If you want an easy double platinum (if you have a PS3), it's worth it.
If you just want to play the game? I'd say wait for a sale... it might be in next weeks final Holiday Sale deals... or it might be PS+ soon. Either way, I'd recommend going that way instead of plunking down your $15.
Buy Dokuro instead for $10 and save the $5 for it i goes on sale for $7.50. :)

No need to transfer if you're happy with it.

Cool thanks....I have no problem stuff being moved around as long as I don't lose anything hehe.

I liked the game a lot, but the story is a mess to follow. But it was a really enjoyable Assassin's Creed experience on a handheld.

Issue with pickpocketing is if guards are around. You'll run into this with one of the slave persona's pickpocket targets if you're going for the collectibles. Poison the guards and then you should be able to pickpocket who you want.

Also Spats: IIRC you have Hot Shots/Everybody/Minna No Golf 6 Portable. You better be ready for my putting jelly.

I'd also like to sink my teeth into Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, since Black is one of my favorite games of all time. How does it hold up?

It's a straight port of a port/remake on PS3. It goes from 60FPS to 30FPS. It adds AWFUL six-axis controls to the bow. It removes the Evil Dark Dragon Blade... intro (hey, wait, that was Sigma!). It's an assy port.

Question is: Do you want to wade through the ass port for $40 simply because it's the pinnacle of the action game genre (NG1) or not?

wow, so i was just checking out the Soul Sacrifice demo impression thread and they have a good youtube video review done by Epic Name Bro. it's been out for a bit it seems so it may have been posted here before but whatever....it's not like this would be the first repeated information in this thread...plus it's worth it.

the only thing that confuses me is the point of the game. i dont know whether its a story, or just score based, or it's some hybrid.

super cool and impressive indeed though.

The points are based on achievements. Please see translated wiki if you are interested.

It does look good and I'm pretty sure there's some sort of story that's based on your reliving the sorcerer's memories/battles as you gain his powers? I don't think they'd put all that backstory into each monster/creature/boss without having a real story for the game, even if it's something minimal like Demon's/Dark Souls.

Oh NO!!! Luchashaq (aka Totobeni Sr.) is back! Now we have two of them to deal with.

I was going to make a comment about the negativity level exponentially increasing and potentially triggering the creation of a black hole that will consume us all, but I decided against it. Now that you mention it though... :-K

Any chance you gave UGnG a try? I really hope you like it! If not, no biggie... it's the thought, right? :)
