Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

Hey guys, I want sooo bad an EDF retail copy, I was so sad when they say it's only digital, but on videogamesplus.ca (that is a canadian shop so good for EU importers where I usually buy stuff for my Vita) have it for pre-order:

https://www.videogamesplus.ca/product_info.php?cPath=576_579&products_id=20609

I though it's an error but I sent an e-mail to the shop and they answer me this:

"Hi XXXXXXX,

I checked with my purchaser and the release date on this game is March 1st we will update it on our website today, sorry.

Thanks,

Steve

So now I'm super-confused.

ive never played a lego game. which is the best?

The handheld versions are far inferior to their console counterparts b/c of two reasons:
1) no open world
2) nightmare for people who "have" to collect everything b/c when you replay stages you have to pick and chose which characters you bring, rather than having them all available to switch between.

Having made those points, it's worth noting that the games are still fun, with LEGO Batman 2 and LEGO LotR being the better choices; and, based on prices, LEGO Batman 2 is the one to go with, as $30 is way too much for the Vita version of LEGO LotR.

I'm so jelly.
I'm on mission 12, since I keep trying to beat each one on Easy, Normal, Hard, and Hardest.
Which has been working out okay so far.

Not going to try to beat Inferno without a team of four.

Once you get the weapons and health built up, you'll find that even Inferno missions are doable solo. I did probably 95% of the Inferno missions solo on the 360 version. It just takes patience and planning.

Now that I've 100% Dokuro, and am almost there on Jetpack Joyride, I'm looking for another quick pick up and play game. I'm finding these are the easiest to play during the early evening and don't seem to see any others (Hot Shots was great until I hit the later courses, not that game requires a lot of focus).

Anyone have any suggestions for a game that is great in quick short bursts? Would Motorstorm RC be great for that?

Edit: Bottom of the page, Noooooooooooooooooo...

Unit 13

It's okay! I see your post!

RC is fantastic in short bursts. Just don't close it too often, the load and screens to the actual game are quite long. And it's fantastic if you're into leaderboards and stuff.

Surge is a good 'burst' game, although you can end up finding yourself spending WAY too long chasing a score. The only problem with it is starting a new round, it can take a while to build up a good score again.

New mail from VG+:

"Hi XXXXX,

Please disregard my last email the release date is correct on our website of Feb 12 for this game"

So, should I do the dance of happiness? Because I love PSN but I don't wanna digital releases for this kind of games.

If two retail sites are showing it..I'd say there is hope

In freeplay at least in LEGO batman 2 you can switch to anyone at anytime.

It's 600mb, why would you want such a tiny thing taking up a precious slot?

From what I've seen this looks like a fun shooter game, but are the missions extremely short? I ask as I'm curious why you mention that this is a great pick up and play game

Thank you for seeing me and for the recommendations, I'll check both out in more detail.

Gamestop doesn't stock it in stores and its out on their site. Maybe Ill go to my Best Buy, is it really that good though? Is there online play?
PS3 version has full local co-op for every mode, and race/battle online play. Vita version loses co-op but keeps online matchmaking for race/battle.

It's my GOTY, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I'm maybe a little too bonkers about it.

Wow, I hope they're right because I'd really like to get the physical version too.

Vita seems to becoming popular with indies. These type of games may not shift large numbers of consoles but they will bolster the library pretty well. I hope it continues.

Some are less than 2 minutes others take around 10. Of course if you like to just turtle it can take a lot more.

The game is just 36 missions and 6 especial missions you have to unlock. No story or new gameplay mechanics added so it's perfect for pick up and play. There's some deep given the fact that you can choose wich agent to use and customize the loadout. There's also the option to randomize any of the 36 missions plus play for highscore on a new mission every day.

I agree. You should go get Unit 13 for short bursts, it's even specifically designed that way.

Perfect, just what I was looking for. Thanks!

well at least we are getting binding of isaac this year.
I wouldn't mind seeing Zeboyd Games, humble hearts, Runic Games, and Mojang get in bed with the vita though.

I wonder how many people would buy Cthulhu Saves the World, Dust, Torchlight 2, or minecraft if they some how ended up on the vita lol.

Either way I hope we continue to get a number of interesting indie games, though I doubt I will need more than isaac on the go to be happy with the indie game selection in 2013 (assuming it comes out this year like it is supposed to)

http://www.laughingjackal.co.uk/post/the-laughing-jackal-blog-returns

Laughthing Jackal has 3 vita games in works and looking at twitter one or all of them are "native" vita games.

nice. thats good to know, though i hope we don't get these "iOS expereience" games on vita.

but heck i'll take 3 more games to add ot the vita library :D

Torchlight 2

i'd 100% bite on that. take that over dungeon hunter alliance....so much so that i just emailed Runic asking of their Vita plans... haha! believe!

edit: OH WELL! hahaha

"Hi ____,

We are not announcing any plans to port Torchlight or Torchlight II to any new consoles at this time.

At this point, even the SFxT 2013 patch would be a miracle...

yep pretty much, Capcom strongly supported PSP (two Megaman games, 2 capcom collection games, Ultimate Ghosts'n Goblins, puzzle collection, power stone, darkstalkers, SFA3Max,...) although ports during first years before they found Monster Hunter franchise, now the situation is pretty sad.

Place thumbs on sticks.
Place Vita in fold of hand; fold fingers around Vita. Rest fingers in finger grooves.
Play game and enjoy.

Something like that, I'd wager. ;)

Edit: Top of the page? Oh dammit. Buy Capcom Classics Collection Remixed for PSP. It's got Strider!
Since I can't screenshot, I'll borrow one from IGN:

Also -- holy crap, pressing select while playing a PSP game changes the screen ratio!

How does it play? I used to play it on the arcade, would not mind a portable version.

I don't care what anyone says about Mortal Kombat. I can be Freddy Kruger so it rocks. The only thing better would be The Goddamn Batman!

guessing you will be all over Injustice: Gods Among Us given it's being made by the MK guys :P
though it's not set to come to the PSV for some reason, guess MK didn't sell well enough or something.

Motorstorm RC is absolutely amazing. Evolution Studios with another top tier product, this one perfect for PS3-Vita. I'm amassing quite the digital collection and am in absolute love with the Vita right now.

The only thing disappointing is how some Cross Buy / Cross Play games are handling trophies are two separate entities. Like Playstation All Stars. I have to do the same crap twice???

On the Vita version, too? I know you are able to in the console versions, but on the Vita I thought you were only allowed to bring a limited number of characters when you replay a stage.
Yea. You pick a team but you can click a ? And you go back into the menu and change the team. You even get an achievement in batman.
The Xbox 360 console exclusivity period has to end first.

When does that end? I never played mine craft but would get it for vita.

I love double trophies, when the saves transfer across!

Right. Motorstorm RC and Metal Gear Solid Collection transfer trophies over while Playstation All Stars doesnt? Right?

Any good definitive source for this?

PS All Stars transfers everything except trophies for some reason. I think every other cross-connected game links trophies. When Vikings Attack has only one platinum for both versions, another oddity.
