Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

He refers to being wowed after coming from PSP to Vita, which is indeed a bit vague since you referred to smartphones.

Even after seeing the iPhone 3GS, the Vita screen still wowed me though. I think its still a decent piece of technology that holds up quite well.
But nothing he said had anything to do with the points I listed. And of course Vita's screen trounces the PSP - the only device I'm aware of with a worse refresh rate than that shit is the Kindle.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm already worried about the price of that 128 GB card.
I figure it will be $99.99... though I don't figure it will be out for 3 years or so.

I figure that about 18-24 months in (aka since the launch of the vita) the 64gb will be announced and the memory cards in general will get a price cut in the way of just sliding everything down one slot and discontinuing the 4gb.

and then 18-24 months after that the 128gb will be announced and they will do it again this time discontinuing the 8gb.

does anyone know if ff x dq itadaki street special for the psp is up on the japanese psn?
I would love some itadaki street on my vita but I doubt square will make one :/

Swapping memory cards will mess up the bubbles, just for those interested. I swap between a 4GB and 8GB card for the time being. Basically, anything that is universal between card swaps will remain in place (Standard system bubbles, plus cart game bubbles) but everything else will be jumbled and it will remove your backgrounds for any sections where the bubbles do get jumbled around.

Just to save anyone else the headache from trying it with larger memory cards.

Thoughts on Smart As? I want a game to keep me sharp like brain age, but the price is steep and I'm running out of card space...

Fun game with lots of different mini games and plenty of reason to come back every day. Also has lots of leaderboard (by country, continent, city etc) and tons of different stats. Really quite interesting actually. But as you say, it's quite expensive for what it is. I think there's a demo

I enjoy it for what it is. Has a lot more stats than Brain Age which is nice. I think $20 would be a more fitting price as it's just a pick up and play for about 10 minutes a day.

Urgh, yes. Just let me scroll through like a normal human being! But no, you have to swipe it. ._.

cant you assign button navigation for the menu?

i havent tried it out, but isn't that an option in settings? migiht not be what you're looking for though.

edit : oh man im way behind on posts.... >_< just got back from and hr lunch. back to work ( and refreshing vitagaf)

I like the charcoal rubbings :)

I actually think the photos are pretty cool though. A bit overly picky about getting the frame exactly right, but it's a nice idea.

I thought they were inoffensive at worst. Didn't have a problem with them.

In Power of Illusion, you frequently have to use your thinner to rub out items, and it feels very much like the charcoal rubbing. I have the same problem here as I did there, the brush width is too small so it takes longer than it ought to for such a menial task.

OK it doesn't remember all bubble positions when card switching. As far as I can tell though, if it is a cart game bubble or any app that is on the vita from purchase then its position and page background colour is carried over when mem card switching. Everything downloaded from psn is thrown down to a page at the bottom.

So if you want to use multiple cards I guess you should make sure anything downloaded is on the bottom pages to make it easier to resort.

Still not good enough. Should just remember everything how it was with that card installed.

I didn't mind the charcoal rubbings (or most of the touch "puzzles") cause they're one-time deals. Never have to do the again after the first time, even on replays. Having a balancing mechanic when walking over logs is a worse offender, though GA isn't the only game guilty of it. :(

Not really that picky about the frame, as long as you have the target zoom right :)

I did too for some reason, that and the dirt rubbing on the artifacts.

The light minigame can go to a place worse than hell though.

I didn't mind the light bit that much to be honest - just turned on my phone's flash and it did it in a couple of seconds. But yeah, it could have been better.

Well it's just the kind of thing where you've already "solved" the puzzle and THEN game adds another layer of busywork. Ideally it should have just been you get the right scene in view and the rest is automatic.

That whole "grade" thing is pointless

Amen. I had to get up from where I was, walk to a light, bend the light so I could put the Vita directly in front of it, and it still had trouble.

Even worse was when I tried to skip that section on crushing and because I skipped the cutscene, it screwed up the light needing portion. :(

I still don't know how to properly do them in Uncharted and Assassin's Creed. It's way worse in the latter game. I took my shade off and held the Vita right up to it and the light would fade away on my Vita screen after a few seconds to the point where it was like I turned the light off.

Turns out the easiest way for me to do it is sit on my bed and move the Vita around while it faces the sheets. There are spots on my bed that make it register even though there's no light on my bed lol.

It is, really :S I don't think i failed to get a single one on the first try, lol

Me too! Finding all the places to get a rubbing was one of my favorite things to do in the game... but I like the exploration and puzzle solving more than the gunfighting bits...

Me too. Absolutely loads of collectables (treasures, mysteries, charcoal rubbings) in this game. Love it. Uncharted 4 needs to take some pointers from that

the finding isn't the issue so much as the doing

It takes far longer to find them than to rub them. I've not seen a problem with it.

As for Sine Mora, I found out today that I'm utterly utterly shit at it. I lost all my lives trying to blend in to the trash. Over and over again. I can't fathom how people can play these games on the crazy high difficulties.

Takes like 5 seconds tops. Don't really see the problem.

it takes at least 15 seconds

it's not about how much time it takes, though -- it's the fact that it's dumb and breaks the pacing. I shouldn't have to perform tasks which take zero skill or sleuthing or thought. That's a waste of my time.

You're missing the point. Finding them is the "fun" part. Rubbing them is not fun.

The trash stuff is... rather... "unique" in the game. I dont think it that part is that well made actually. I got the hang of it eventually but its needlessly frustrating. And it doesnt get harder or easier on other difficulty settings.

The problem with that part is that it will pull your ship to the wall at certain points and you need to adjust for that.

Posting from the vita. awesome little device. I hope sony can somehow manage to turn sales around.

15 seconds? what the hell are you doing with it? lol. Just rub the screen quickly from side to side, gradually going down. Seriously takes no longer than 5 seconds.

. I shouldn't have to perform tasks which take zero skill or sleuthing or thought.

May as well just cut out all of the game except the shooting then

I liked rubbing the carvings. :(

See, what I loved about Golden Abyss is that it had downtime. After playing UC3, which was gunfight after gunfight and gunfight wave encounter, after short cutscene then gunfight, a little time to relax and do other tasks was breath of fresh air.

Yep, I agree with that.

Don't be unreasonable. I have a minor complaint and you're pretending I'm treating it as game-breaking and extrapolating needlessly. I TOLD you I liked finding them!

I'm not being unreasonable. You said it "takes no skill or thought" which none of the platforming does. So they may as well cut that out, right? :) I don't see the problem with something that takes 5 seconds to do.

Would it have been less of an issue if they were restricted to non story based collecting?

So while playing the main story, you wouldn't have to do them unless you chose to collect as you went?

*sigh*

The platforming isn't "difficult" but it involves actual observation and timing, unlike rubbing a stupid picture on a screen side-to-side for FIFTEEN seconds

Any ideas how long will Uncharted: GA and GR stay as part of PS+ package? Any plans to have them replaced?

We don't know anything about Sony's Vita + plans really. I would imagine they would stay up longer than a month but I don't know for sure. You can register them to your account from a PS3 if you don't have a Vita yet.

PS3 also at home in a different country, the earliest I will have access to it is Saturday. However something tells me the games will still be on offer at that point so no worries. Btw, is this download code or physical product:

Did Amazon always sell PS+ cards and PSN cards? I remember having to go through Best Buy.

Men... I quite enjoy doing them. I have thhe game platinumed and am part way through on a new save so they are all unlocked again. Saying out right that the finding is fun and rubbings not isn't true for everyone.

The light bit is OK in uncharted but out right broken in assassins creed.

Oh and no way rubbings take 15 seconds. Its like 5 tops.

Just got back with my Vita! So excited; managed to snag a LE White with AC:L and I'm very pleased with how awesome the system looks. Picked up Persona 4 as well as a 32GB card, and have all the + stuff pre-loaded and ready to go.
