So I got a vita for Christmas.

So my questions are what's the ideal memory card size (came with 4gb, black ops bundle) and what are some good games I can download off of PSN?

Oh and if you buy games retail do they install to the memory card?

You really should go for a 32 if you can afford it. 16 minimum though. And you should definitely have PS+. As for if games instal, they do, but not full. They just instal some basic data for saving and in game access.

Someone else will give you suggestions on titles to grab. :)

You should get a 32gb card and PS+ right away. Even a 32gb card is way too small but the biggest available is the one to get. Mutant Blobs Attack and Motorstorm RC are two great PSN games. You should definitely get PS+ too, it's magnificent for new owners.

Some save data installs to the memory card and that is it.

32GB is a must if you plan to go digital. As for the games, the absolute must haves are Persona 4 Golden, PS+ so you can get Uncharted for free, Sound Shapes and wipEout 2048.

Been playing a bit of mechwarrior online/hawken just recently, curious to play any mech games on my Vita, any suggestions as to the best choices?

8gb is minimum for me. 16 is good and I'm rocking it. 32 is too expensive.

First thing for you to do is to get PS+. If you are EU I can throw free 30 day code. Other than that I'd need to know what types of games you like.

Death mode is entirely luck based. Worst game mode I played all year.

Not entirely lol. You really have to tighten your movements or else some will be difficult even with perfect note spawns. I was actually hoping more levels would be the dlc instead of lame note packs.

Well I really wanted a vita for little big planet so I'm most likely buying that.

I'm US btw.

My question with + is if I buy 3 months and get my free games are they gone when + runs out?

And is playstation all stars any good? I do love smash bros.

Yeah you only keep free games as long as you're subscribed (but if you ever re-sub, you get them back).

PSASBR is great

All Stars is a brilliant game and I'm not one to usually like fighting games.

The games you got for free on PS+ during those 3 months would be gone but they'd be waiting for you if/when you re-subscribed. Games bought using the exclusive PS+ discounts are yours to keep forever.

I dunno, you may not like PSAS if you're into SSB. It introduces some weird changes that make the game look similar but feel different, and that difference could be a severe detriment (it was for me).

If you just want a fun party brawler though, I'm sure you'll have a good time with it.

You had to be tight and perfect but that was not where the difficulty came from. It came from the fact that 9 times out of 10 the game would spawn the notes in a way that was impossible to beat, no matter how perfect you were.

That's lazy and unacceptable game design.

Congrats!

8gb is absolute minimum. 16gb will do most people fine unless they're going completely digital, or just have bought an inordinate number of games and don't want to decide which ones they want to play. Naming no names.

Games have a small install from retail, mostly just a few mb.

Dokuro (US)
Stranger's Wrath
ZHP
Mutant Blobs Attack
Surge

Don't forget all Vita games are available digitally, so add P4G to that list NOW. Or else.

Okay, so i have £25 PSN monies to spend. Probably mostly on Vita stuff

-Stranger's Wrath
-Flying Hamster HD
-Munch's Odysee (PS3)

Anything else i should get?

Screw you Sony. Too many free and discounted games.

Let me breathe!!!!!!!!!

I am extremely happy I kept the vita instead of selling it though. That black friday bundle from amazon was solid. If I did not keep it I wouldn't have any games to play while im away from home.

Also 32 GB for life. I think im going all digital. It's nice not to have to carry any games anywhere.

Damn I wish I hadn't missed that lockerz 32gb sale. Now all the B&Ms are resetting back to retail because of gift cards. :(

They're like 30 seconds long... if you're playing it perfectly then you'll beat them in no time. Of course you have to learn how to make clean runs and then do them consistently so when you get a good spawn you can easily win. How else are they supposed to do it?

PSASBR is my GOTY but I advise not going in with the expectations that it's exactly like Smash. It's also a bug ridden mess but the game is so solid and online works so I can't help but love it. PS+ free games you can play as long as you are subscribed. You do get to keep all the discounted games you have bought even after that.

If you don't own a PSP I suggest looking into the classic titles in there as well. Some really good stuff. PSX classic games of course too!

My guide to Memory cards:

4 - for secondary japanise account to download demos
8 - bare minimum
16 - resonable minimum to not delete digital games every month
32 - still not enough but we can't buy bigger at the moment.

I like smash bros too but PS all stars is nowhere near as good. If you can get it really really cheap then try it out because it's competent but don't go in expecting a smash bros quality product. It's closer to a cheap knock off than a competitor.

Internet out in the middle of nowhere - can't upload any images, but close your eyes and visualize a game looking really good on the Vita. That game is Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed.

Happy Holidays, everyone. I hope Santa was kind and the company was warm.

I'm glad RCR is free. So far I am super meh about the game.
Most underwhelming game of the year. Other than good chiptune music, it's a waste of everyone's time.

I'm enjoying Retro City Rampage, but mostly cause I'm playing it for free. No guilt over having wasted my money. :)

I spent $15 on it due to Internet hype.

I've heard nothing but people being disappointed by it which is part of the reason why I was so pissed that SCEA gave us only that this month. A 30mb shitty game.

I don't think smash bros is a "good" fighting game game, but I play it for the characters I like,I was going to get Sony clone for the same reason, but most of the Sony character I care for aren't in the game (for examples Jen Tate,Dart,Wander, Rynn,Ellen and Keats,Ari and Stan) so I ignore the game and didn't get it.

Old References: The Game.

yeah internet/Gaf hype is very bad most of the time.

I don't think I know any of those characters off hand like that. I was expecting common sense ones like Snake and Cloud and/or Sephiroth lol.

RCR is just a pile of old game references. I mean damn.

I actually like owning a 4GB card as it motivates me to finish things because I cant get any new games until the current one is deleted.

I feel the same way.

fyi for some reason easy mode Stranger's Wrath on Steam is harder than Easy mode on Vita.

How ODDworld.

Glad RCR gets the slack it deserves. Game is definitely mediocre. Very mediocre.

It baffles me how long it take, and how much wrong and broken and non fun it was to play, also asking for $15 was just crazy.

for DD only games it is the biggest fail and disappointment of the year.

There's only one DD game I've ever bought before hearing detailed impressions first, and being sure I'd enjoy it enough to justify the price.

That was Journey.

If I can't resell something, I sure as hell am not taking a gamble on it.

Sonic Transformed is £20 at Amazon! Think I'm going to jump in at that price, the port seems decent from the few reviews that are about.

Do it. Best kart racer in 15 years.

Everything from the console version is there. You can check my post history for more gushing and a dozen screenshots.

Crash 2 and 3 hold up stupendously well and look great on the Vita. Play those too if you can.

Got NGS+ and Disgaea for Christmas. Played through the first four chapters of NGS+. I know the game completely off-by-heart at this point, but it's so tight and well designed that I still love it. Incredibly impressive that they managed to pull it off so well also. I feel like it looks a lot closer to NGS than it does NGB, minus some texture detail and self-shadows.

Yeees, GAFfer after my own heart.
Also, be sure to alter the visual settings to get rid of that faded out look.

Been playing Raymon Orgin on vita for a week. That game is amazing. I have actually stopped playing NSMBU because of raymon. Also just finished LBP Vita.

that should be the case, but sometimes you can't help yourself :(

Well, the core gameplay is still very good (I admit that), but as a port the game drop the framerate a lot of time (if you are sensitive to framerate dips it's not for you) and the graphic got a bigger hit and downgrade with lighting effects and other stuff missing which make the tracks feel really flat and dead,it's really lazy port(Vita is not weak to get this sort of crap ports, Wipeout 2048 did a great job showing that almost a year ago)

Yep, brightness 0, contrast 1.1, gamma 1.1.

Looks stunning in motion.

By the way, I've searched high and low for this - is there any way to disable the awful "touch any part of the screen to get to first-person" thing? It hardly makes sense as it is, but the fact that it activates even when you accidentally tap the outermost perimeter of the screen...so annoying.

I wish amazon had sales on vita games like they do on PC games. I was ready to go buy madden 13, even if it was $20-25, but it was like $40 still. No wonder no one buys software on Vita.

sadly they don't sell digital Vita games only PSN codes (If they do sometimes in the future I have no doubt they will show Sony to do real DD sales).

And yes retail handheld prices are also crazy.should be between $19 to $29 for the new games imho.

Hey, if you change memory card does that mean you lost everything on the previous card? Can the content be transferred? I heard from somewhere IIRC that one profile can only use one memory card.....???

You know, I'll be honest with you, when I try to be objective, I see NSMBU as a better game than Rayman Origins in mechanics and level design.

But even so I just can't shake that samey-ness. I played through Origins straight, in about a week, and even Platinum'd it (something I can't often be bothered to do). I'm still only about half way through NSMBU one month later. I want to love NSMBU more than I think I actually do and it kind of pains me to say it. At least the challenge mode is pretty awesome.

Bring on Rayman Legends, Ubisoft.
