The Problem with PSM is that it is yet another platform for games.
Retail Games, PSN Games, PSM, PS Minis.
PSM reminds me of XBLindie
Some great gems but loads of crap and not at all easy to find
The problems with PSM are
1) Lack of games and non game apps, there are maybe 20 games and 1 non game available? I'm genuinely curious, but I think that number is just about right, I know there's only one non gaming app available. The service has been available for over 2 months now, closer to 3. Should have at least a couple of hundred games and apps, given its indie status and easiness of development, but nope. I never even click on that tab to be honest.
2) Only available in a few select countries, both from a consumer and dev POV
3) Lack of PSN (trophies, leaderboard, etc ) integration
4) Developers are unable to develop free apps and games, so if you want to develop a weather/stock app or a tic tac toe/hangman game, then it can't be free even though no one will pay for it
5) Prices are high compared to iOS/android. Some games are more than 100% more expensive than iOS/android. You might say, but it's only a couple of bucks, but the majority of people will see that and think it's expensive when the same experience can be had much cheaper on the competition
6) No coverage for it from SCEA or even SCEE for that matter. The best place to get info is from kassatsu's website
7) Developers complaints include limitation on the VM that is used to run the code, especially if you try to do a 3D game/app, lack of documentation, only able to use C#, no other language is supported
There are probably more things wrong with it, but PSM is a bust. Had great potential though.
