Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

You're nothing but a troll. Please stop posting. I don't care if you own a Vita. That doesn't change the fact.

You know what really annoys me? The people that get mad when a developer shows a new game they're making for the Vita, and Sony promotes it. That little developer making their little game is not the reason we aren't getting big games on Vita. It's not their fault, and it's frankly astonishing that people seem to get mad that Sony wants to market these indie games.

Guess what? I want more big games, too. Practically all of us do. That doesn't mean we have to whine when an indie developer announces their new game is coming to our struggling platform. We should be THANKING them, because without them we would have practically no games at all. We'd go back to having weeks in a row with no content like in the early days of the Vita.

True - constant stream of small PSN games is one of things Sony needed to improve. Now they have to work to solve lack of big games and memory prices.

edit: altrough this one doesn't look too exciting.

It's pretty hard to get excited for that picture, but it gives you no idea what the game is like. I won't pass judgement.

Coming from Hotline Miami, it's pretty hard to judge any game purely on looks.

Watch a video on Youtube - it really is awesome in motion (and with the music.) I guess... think of it as a more free form Flower?

Killzone 3,LBP 2,Motorstorm Apocalypse etc.
Killzone 3 was due to be revealed in GamePro, but someone got ahold of it early and leaked it, so there was no point for Sony to hold back. Motorstorm Apocalypse was part of Sony's pre-E3 announcements. I guess the Blog technically had the LBP 2 announcement first, but the major press outlets had already been briefed on the game and had articles ready to publish.

Ya new thread and Velocity Ultra this week. Also Welcome new Vita owners.

Us superior EU folk have had Velocity Ultra for ages. You must ALL buy it however. I have 13 more levels to get Perfect on.

This game would be awesome on Vita: http://curvefever.com/
Its very simple but brilliant. Multiplayer is so fun!

Oh, and Trackmania2:Stadium on Vita would be a dream come true...

Gimme based Shahid :D

Send him a tweet and he'll probably contact them fairly sharpish.

Yes, and you already got it for free on PS+ too.
Combine the ~7 week wait with the fact that it was already free on PS+ in EU and now you know why I may not jump on it day one.

call me a troll,indie-hater i don't care..

sony is turning the vita into a portable ouya...

non-indie titles will boost sales not overpriced and delayed indie games that can be played on your last gen console or your older PC(half price)

sony doing wrong.

So, just for clarification, if Curve Studios wants to bring an indie game to the PS3 and Vita, Sony should tell them they are not allowed to bring it to the Vita? And this will, IN TURN, make Sony put out more big games?

*snip*endless negativity*snip*

Great. Go get them to hire you to fix it all, since you seem to have the answers.
GAF seems to love threads about the VITA and it's imminent doom... maybe you should go make a thread about it!

I'm in for SH: Book of Memories next week for $7.50.

Already paid $20 for MK Vita. It's worth $5 for just about anyone though... game is ridiculously jam packed with content. Hell, it's worth $5 alone for the Test Your Slice mode.

sooo what are we expecting for NA PS PLUS this month?

Im hoping for NLKS :)

Wow, someone is dreaming big.
Knowing what we normally get, you're in for a wake up call.

Sell your Vita, that would best for you I think most likely.

Im looking forward to more indies.

im really enjoying the indie love on vita, some of these games are a lot better than shoddy AAA games like ACL, COD or Resistance BS

My point still stands, anyways it's not like Sony gives a crap about the Vita at the big events.

their focus is on the PS4, which it very well should be

once the PS4 is the dominant force, think of all the people that will get a vita just for remote play. I mean, I have 2 of things.

at that point, the chance of getting big titles is vastly improved.

I'd assume that the master plan is:

-get indies to release late port of their succesfull game
-get their next game on the same day as other platforms

And as someone said there's no reason to block any game from releasing as long as it meats Sony standards.

I haven't played CoD, but Resistance was a competent FPS that got a little stale toward the end. It was a great proof of concept game on how a FPS would work on the console, but like Zipper with Unit 13, I believe that Nihilistic was rushed and thus the game wasn't as great as we'd expect from a 1st part title (not that any of the Resistance games were fantastic after the original anyway).

I just finished AC:L and that game gets a lot of underserved hate, IMO. Granted, the save bug is patched out now and it's still a buggy mess in parts and could use some more patching, but my overall gameplay experience on it was exactly what I would expect from a console AC game. I felt like it was a pretty competently done job and a great first attempt at a game of that scale on the Vita. If they're making another AC game for Vita, I have high hopes it will be even better. The only real complaint I had, outside of the bugs, was that the multiplayer was pretty much worthless and I have no idea why they even included it. It's not fun and the trophies tied to it (the max @ level 15 trophy at least) were grindy as fuck.

A shame since that is all entirely SCEAs fault and not Futurlabs. A truly excellent game.

I don't have a Twitter account.

Make one :P You don;t have to tweet anything the rest of the time, or even follow anyone, but it's been fun following Yoshida, Shahid, FakeKaz and a few others over the last few months. I tweeted him for you.

honestly i dont think NLKS will ever go free, or even get a sale/discount for that matter.

if you want ( and you should ) just buy it.

sadly i'm just like you holding out hope for a little lower price...the game was GREAT on wii.

I think we could see Rayman Origins, if not july then in the months coming up before Legends releases.

I could see them giving us a PSP game though, sadly.

I think they are saving some of the big free games for the year long flip in the fall, such as resistance and LBP. not really sure what games that leaves us with that have a chance of being free on PS+.... maybe Lumines, or Dynasty warriors?? doubtful but what games has EU gotten free that US hasn't?

EU has been killing it the past few months with their PS+ offerings.

Kyon, you're a good guy and a long-time Vitabro, but you couldn't be more wrong about this. The existence of indie games does not correspond to the inexistence of retail games. People need to stop lumping the two together like they correlate.

A shame since that is all entirely SCEAs fault and not Futurlabs. A truly excellent game.

I'm sure it is. I got the mini free through PS+ and it was on my Vita for awhile before I found out the Ultra version was coming; I deleted it then because I figured I'd just play through on the native game... lo and behold, the SCEA approval process delayed it by just about 2 months so now I've lost all hype. Add in the fact that SCEE got it (and other games that make my plebeian NA PS+ account jealous as a <expletive deleted>) for free as part of their PS+ and I'm just bitter as hell.

If' I'm spending around $8 on a Vita game in the next two weeks, it will be the $7.50 I spend on SH:BoM instead of VU. Sorry Futurlabs. Blame SCEA. We do. :P
(Knowing me, I'll probably be weaker on this issue than the Muramasa Rebirth stance I took, since it's only $8 and supporting a good developer... However, I don't want to support the incompetence of SCEA at the same time. So I'm not sure which one will win out...)

Now we've got the truth coming out.
Keep dropping knowledge!

This.

I just don't understand why so many people seem to have trouble grasping that. Sony execs aren't sat in a meeting room saying 'Nah, fuck it, cancel Uncharted Golden Abyss 2. Let's release Spelunky instead'.

You could send futurlab a paypal payment via their website and see if they'll send you a code :P

From what I gathered from Twitter they submitted it 2 or 3 times but got knocked back for things that SCEE didn't care about.

It's indie, its exclusive, it's got loads of content, it's at times bastard hard to perfect, and it's so much fun. The only people who shouldn't buy it are people who don't have a PS+ account. Because those people can't be reasoned with in the first place :P

Getting the LiveTweet Vita App right now. Is it good?

Thank you!
Getting the LiveTweet Vita App right now. Is it good?

The app itself is very good. The only thing that lets it down for me is the Vita on screen keyboard which pales in comparison to a decent smartphone one like SwiftKey.

But I have a phone in my pocket all day, sit at a desk with a computer and have both plus a tablet at home, so I rarely use the Vita app.

Woo, new thread.

It is a travesty that Hatsune Miku Project Diva ƒ is the game of the month. It's the worst of the series, and killed my interest in the franchise unless Sega takes out those god-damned Star notes.

If anyone is interested in the series, please don't think that Diva ƒ is the best way to decide your opinion of the Project Diva games.

Wow, someone's salty. I'm glad you're not in a position to influence the series' game design because the scratch notes are the most intuitive element in the game on Vita (on PS3, not so much...)

This.

I just don't understand why so many people seem to have trouble grasping that. Sony execs aren't sat in a meeting room saying 'Nah, fuck it, cancel Uncharted Golden Abyss 2. Let's release Spelunky instead'.

Even if they were, that's wouldn't be a problem. Spelunky looks awesome as hell and I've already played 4 Uncharted games, I don't really need another one. :P

That said, your point is valid. The execs aren't going to say "we don't need something like MGS/GTA/GoW Vita just because we've got Thomas Was Alone and Hotline Miami. And don't forget, Terraria is coming, so we're set!"

The real aggravation here is this:
People BITCH and BITCH and BITCH and BITCH and BITCH (well you get the point) about a lack of NEW IPs and NEW IDEAS. These things exist in ABUNDANCE in the indie community. Lots of people aren't going to go buy Hotline Miami in an indie bundle because they just don't think of their laptop as a gaming device... they'd much rather buy it on PSN/XBL or their phone or some other device. So Sony is pulling the indie love in, getting these developers to bring all that fresh content to us (just because you've played it PC doesn't mean everyone with a Vita or PS3 has). Yeah, it's not a big budget IP, but that doesn't make a game garbage.

You want fresh ideas and new IPs? Indies bring that. And just because indies are coming doesn't preclude any of the AAA big budget studios from making games. It can only help. More indies coming to Vita means more games for Vita owners to buy -- sales of Vita software will convince more indie devs to port games and develop for Vita simultaneously with PC and other platforms meaning we'll get Hotline Miami 2 at launch with the PC game. Whether you want indie games or not, you have to realize that you are not everyone else, there are people who want these games and will buy them (I can't say they'd buy a Vita for them, but if the library was right, they might). Strong software library, indie or not, can only help to increase sales. Increased sales means it's a more viable platform which could convince bigger studios to greenlight Vita games.

Any way you look at it, more indies is NOT a bad thing. And as VanWinkle and TipTop are saying: the idea that there's any sort of correlation between more indie games and less AAA is ridiculous.

Seks, Ouya don't have a screen on it.

He is talking about a real problem with Vita, not sure why are you guys so getting mad at him, here is the thing, his posts are not the problem and he is not the only one thinking that about indie or Vita situation, please go and read the "Shahid is awesome" thread there are lots of people who don't post in this thread in same line as him, will you call them all "trolls" or ask them to just shut up?

and he is not doing anything wrong with that post with the screen, that one screen don't really tell us anything about the game, it's just a retro style thing, why are you attacking him like he is killing team of cute kittens?

As for Vita indie, there are very good and awesome indie games but here is the two major problems that Sony need to change to made the indie strategy working on the device.

1)Vita is getting old indie port. 2)Vita is now getting the iOS-sized indie and not the bigger ones like a A Hat in Time for an example or the indie games PS4 got at E3.

Indie games are not just PSmobile/iOS sized, look at Steam greenlight, there are bigger ones that look like full console games, that what Sony need to bring to Vita (and I think that is Shahid work right?) but from what Vita get, the focus is on the very tiny indie games.

Can we blame any one who asking Sony to get their shit together on Vita? No, in the end Vita is a Playstation device, the PlayStation legacy is always about games from all sizes and genres and the big games, that the expectation and that what a Playstation fans want mostley, that what PSone was that what PS2 did that what PSP have and that what we got with PS3 last generation... sadly Vita is not doing that so far and the indie strategy just moving the system from that healthy situation and games variety.

I hope vita gets nothing but great indies and zero AAA titles just so you sell yours again toto. Your trolling is the worst in the gaming side.

I have an inexplicable urge to import that Hatsune Miku PSV game. I've never actually played any but I've been itching for a rhythm game lately.

Vita gets new indie games as well as older critically acclaimed indie games. That's how it should be. Not everyone has every platform. And again, I feel like its ridiculous that I have to keep bringing this up, but we KNOW that there needs to be more big titles, and, in the right places, we will vent about that, but indie games have nothing to do with It. I wish we got bigger indie games too. I'm sure it's not for lack of effort from Shahid and co. they probably just werent able to get those developers to come over. Thats life.

In regards to calling him a troll, it wasn't purely because of that post but rather a conglomerate of his posts regarding the Vita.

I have an inexplicable urge to import that Hatsune Miku PSV game. I've never actually played any but I've been itching for a rhythm game lately.

Pretty fun and easy to understand (if you know intermediate japanese even easier). I wish they would bring the Vita version to America but I'll probably be double dipping on the PS3 version when it comes stateside. Also, we need more info about God Eater 2. God Eater Burst is everything I wish MH was.

Another month, another thread. Thanks for all your hard work, Noi!
I'm jealous of all you Vitabros playing Muramasa and Hotline Miami right now...I'm going to be moving later this month so all my cash is going towards that :'(. Gonna get them in August though, along with Jak and Dragon's Crown.

I'm looking for an RPG to play during that time. Can you guys help me pick from among the ones I have? They are:

PS1:
Alundra
Breath of Fire 4
Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy 8
Grandia
Wild ARMs

PSP
Persona 3 Portable
Persona 2: Innocent Sin
Final Fantasy Tactics

PSVita
Disgaea 3
Persona 4 Golden

I would prefer to play a game from the PS1 or PSP selections. Was leaning towards P3P, but wanted some more opnions before making any decision. Thanks in advance for all your help!
