It's not strange at all. In fact, it is quite easy to explain. With most dedicated gaming consoles, people know they'll get BOTH major AAA titles and indie games. They buy their console for the former and also enjoy the later (let's be honest, PS4s, PS3s, 3DSs, Xboxs and even Wii Us are not bought for their indie offerings). The same was the case of the Vita, but..
a) A lot of Vita owners think it is becoming a console exclusively dedicated to indies and feel cheated, something that Sony's statements and behavior about the Vita doesn't help alleviate.
b) (my case) A lot of us want to see the console sell a lot better, and indie games can't accomplish that plain and simple. Big games will come, I'm sure, but what I'm not that sure about is if they will be enough in number to see my most-loved console get any considerable market traction for a stable period of time.
True enough. As mentioned above, every console needs BOTH to be healthy.
