Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

Just changed my mind on buying Rayman day 1, and it has nothing to do with the upcoming patch. Rather, it's that the game is one of the few that doesn't limit screen brightness to 80%, and as such should be rewarded.

You win, Ubisoft <3

Maybe day 2 depending on how this demo progresses

Hehehe

Velocity Ultra platinum so close I can taste it. 2 zones left to perfect and the stupid smith's landing mini-game stand in my way.

Game has a lot of good ideas, but some piss-poor control issues.
Hopefully a sequel will be better realized.

Edit:
Make that zone 50 and the bonus game left.

I had no idea that any games limited screen brightness. O_O

I keep mine at about halfway 24/7, though.

Just been playing Hotline Miami tonight, oh my god what a game! I literally knew nothing about it, just heard loads of places talk about it. The music, the style, the everything! Awesome, awesome game and suits Vita perfectly. Love it.

Preloading Rayman right now. The news of the patch is great. Rejoice and support this game Vitabros.

VERY impressed with one of the middle missions on KillZone - can't spoiler tag on my phone, but I think it's in smaller scale skirmishes that killZone excels, not fake one where you're in a huge war but happen to only see a few people.

Merc manages to give context to some, not all, of it's smaller encounters. Good stuff Cambridge.

As I said in the OT, since level 4 the game really starts to hit its stride. It went from an good shooter on handheld to an overall good FPS experience. Encounter design is great.

Graphic fidelity also gets better. On the first levels you notice the low polygon geometry of the levels.

I'm extremely pumped for HM2. I think it'll be even better than the first (which is near perfect IMO).

well... that a weird thing to reward a game/publisher for.

If I was going for Vita version and wasn't waiting for steam sale I'll get it when they release the patch so they know that I'm not ok with missing contents.

I've begun playing and I LOVE the game so far. It's got a ton of charm, very vibrant and looks stunning on the Vita. So crisp!

My fears were for naught...

Now, if only I understood the time/days, crafting system I'd be off to a good (better) start.

Thank you for recommending this game! It'd have slid past my radar and I'm happy to have picked I up (digitally, lol). I've not had a ton of JRPG experience, even though I grew up with NES in the early 80's and gaming beyond -> current. It's a genre I recently got into beginning this gen and I'm happy I did.

Meruru is shaping up nicely. Just dim the music volume first, as it drowns out the other sounds (voice and fx).

Another successful convert! Enjoy!

In SCEA region? That sounds great. I was hoping they would do something like this!

Edit: oh...just saw your edit. That's unfortunate. :/

Enjoy your discounts, Dragons Crown, Muramasa (ok, we will get them), Ys: Celceta ( please come to Europe) abd DJMax Technika Tune.

Every SCE region sucks :(

I'm hoping that they're working on a new Patapon. Love that game, would love to see it native on the Vita.
Especially after seeing the Patapon appear in PSASBR. Looked so great. Wonder if they'all go 2D or 3D for the graphics. Either is fine by me, as long as the gameplay and 2D plane remain.
This man gets it! Patapon on that OLED, like sex!!!
Y'know....I never really cared for Patapon...and I tried several times, on several occasions...

dont oust me!

But I didnt care for the actual gameplay. I also found all the chants and music to be just so grating. Oh and that crap right agter you beat the stage?! it almist made me want to immediately hurl my psp at a wall as soon as I heard it. I couldn't get it out of my head either. Days, weeks at a time. It haunts me, still to this day, on cold stormy nights..

hmm 108 in my PSN wallet.
I was thinking of not getting Rayman Legends and Meruru but looking at all of this I'm kinda thinking otherwise...

You'll get almost all of that eventually and can import the ones you're missing. Hell, your Japanese favorites sale that's going on dwarfs the 2-week sale we got here.

Meanwhile, we get terrible PS+ games, no pre-orders or pre-loading, limited PSOne support and high priced PSP titles that SCEA thinks are a value when they throw them out as PS+ games for Vita. :P

Kickstarter Project Phoenix is now coming to PlayStation Platforms - Vita and PlayStation 4

In running this Kickstarter, if there’s one thing we’ve really come to appreciate, it’s your energy, enthusiasm, and, of course, your patience! After a lot of hard work on the back end, we can finally announce that Project Phoenix will officially be released on the Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita!

Over the past few weeks, we’ve received many messages, e-mails, and queries about the possibility of the game being released on the PS4 and PS Vita and now, after long negotiations and discussions, that wish has become a reality! So although not every single detail about the release has been finalized, we’re proud and excited at the prospect of developing for the Playstation platform.

So what does this all mean for those of you who are interested in getting a PS4 or PS Vita version of Project Phoenix? Well, we’re working on getting the pledge tiers ready through our Paypal donation page and will update you all accordingly when that's up and ready!

Those who have already backed it through Kickstarter and prefer a PS4 or PS Vita version, please stay tuned to the updates page and we'll have more information on how to make the change once we're up and running.

Import games? I thought we are digital only bros? ;( Cards on a handheld are annoying :/

But yes, every region sucks. The grass is always greener on the other side.
Pretty sure there is some japanese guy out there who is jealous of our indie games (while playing Type0 that bastard) :D

If there is future Patapon title or spiritual successor of it, I would they back to its root with simple presentation and charming 2D-art. Not like that bastardized Patapon 3 that turned it into 2D sidescrolling pseudo Monster-Hunter clone.

hmm.. I thought the US PS+ Japanese Dev sale was pretty good (prices at least.. not so much the selection)

I wonder if it is smart enough to look for the save on the PS+ cloud. Because I deleted the game to make space and I don't fancy reinstalling the 3GB+ game just to get the bonus. I bet you do have to though.

Considering I only have a 4GB card, if you're right I won't be able to at all..

Kickbeat is such a good looking game. It's crazy.

Aren't those guys doing the Boarderlands2 port?
I was a bit concered whether such a small team is able do this right. I mean, Boarderlands 2 is a huge game and we haven't had something similar on Vita, yet. The last thing we need is another subnative port that fails to keep a solid 30 fps.
I really hope they're doing a good job.

No, the people behind Divekick are,

I've never played Borderlands 2. Perhaps I'll pick up next year on the Vita when it launches.

Also, before the Jap and Asia PSN merged, the Asia PS+ was a huge pile of shit. A lot of people from Asia actually subbed to US or EU PS+. I honestly don't know what the hell the Sony HK guys are doing.

We really need Sony/PlayStation Singapore and let them oversee operations in SEA and Asia PS+

heck. I would sign up and apply to work there after graduation

More Velocity Ultra gripes:

(1) Why, when I beat level 50, does it put me in the mission menu for the bonus missions? That's a bunch of bs... I want to just go look at the times I need and next thing I know, I have to navigate 4 menus to get back to the level.
(2) Anyone got any tips for level 50 besides "practice"? It's one of those ridiculous speed levels and apparently it likes to have my bombs go flying through the targets instead of triggering them.

This is pretty amazing. Earlier today, I was about to ask my fellow Gaf-sapiens if any of them knew of a kickstarter that would be going on the Vita too, as I was feeling the remorse of not being able to help Starlight Inception. Buuut then I decided to not be lazy and look for myself. I looked for a little bit (at work), couldn't find much, and resigned the search for later. Then you plop this nugget of goodness down! Truly, it must be fate. It looks promising though, and they have my monies now.
Got my first Vita platinum. Thanks Rayman Origins, it was fun!
Congrats!!! A mighty fine feat, at that. You never forget your first :D

Double Plat Edit:
I just managed the Velocity Ultra platinum. Next!
Nice!!!!! Also a super duper achievement!! That is one I am aiming for!!

What questions do you have about it? Everything takes a certain amount of time to do: travelling, gathering, fighting, alchemy. Alchemy requires certain ingredients for each item. Different ingredients also have different traits which can be passed to the final item. Some items are more difficult to make and require a higher alchemy skill. You raise your skill by making things.

holy shit. I just found a white vita w/ 4 gb card in what seems like great condition listed on Craigslist for $130. Very close to me and listed around 48hrs ago too.

Sent an email about it. Trying not getting my hopes up... though they are hard to control in this situation. lol

Depending on how things go I may be a Vitabro soon... already have a bunch of games waiting for me with PS+ and cross buy :p

KickBeat is pretty fun. Been playing the demo and I think I'll purchase the full game shortly.

Keep on making rhythm games and I'll keep buying them!

On other news, I really hope Sony has been monitoring Kickstarter... I hope they get the following released on Vita/PS4

-Ghost Song
-Project Phoenix
-Shantae
-Mighty No. 9

Project Phoenix was already confirmed for PS4/Vita if I'm not mistaken. Would like to get the rest of those games on Vita though.

edit: top of the page. Buy Atelier Meruru Plus!

It is! Haha doh! I even posted the update myself ><

Hmm do I need to play Totori before Meruru?

Yeah I've been planning to import DJMax for a while. I need a decent rhythm game to hold me over till Project Diva f 2nd comes out.

Not entirely convinced about Kick Beat yet.
