lmao at them shafting my favorite character. Oh well.
In all this time they have still left the opening animation completely untouched since the first time it was shown on season 1. I wonder if it will be finally updated next season.
Enjoyed this batch of episodes immensely. The only low point for me ishow poorly Lotor's actions have been explained; I can't tell what happened when he tried to open Honnerva's gate and it seems wildly out of character for his generals to have turned on him. So now he's met up with the Voltron coalition with one of his three ships, the other two who knows where and rudderless. I have no idea where they're going with this.

He's creating anotherVoltron. One made of three Ships instead of 5 lions robots.
Season 4 was a pretty disappointing follow up to the season that came before it imo, I absolutely loved season 3.
I'm pretty sure they just split season 3 in half with this; it was intended to be one full season
I just found an article from August when the showrunners were asked about why Shiro came back quickly in Season 3 (source):

Season 4 finale spoilers:
What a coincidence that Shiro's incredibly detailed offensive strategy placed the entire Voltron Coalition within range of a planetary bomb that Haggar had apparently planned for.
I just found an article from August when the showrunners were asked about why Shiro came back quickly in Season 3 (source):
Finale spoilers:They did mention that it fits with the Galra creed of "victory or death", the idea that all their key strongholds areis actually pretty smart and consistent. Also rememberrigged to wipe out an entire system in case of total captureShiro's plan involved intel cultivated over months by Matt, Pidge, Hunk and the Blades of Marmora
Finale spoilers:
I was moreso getting at the idea of Operation Kuron having an influence in Shiro's strategy. We still don't know what it is exactly, but I don't think it would be a stretch to assume the Galra have some way of monitoring the team through Shiro. Not to mention the question of whether this is the real Shiro or someone else given false memories. I was also a bit surprised at how Shiro acted in the finale. When the generators started to appear, Lance said the team needed to get off the planet and told Pidge to secure an escape route. Pidge seemed to agree until Shiro ordered them to stay, only for the gravity field to trap them a minute later. I also thought Lance's motivational speech to Allura was the sort of thing Shiro would have said in the first two seasons, but Shiro seemed to have trouble figuring a way out of the trap.
I do agree that some stuff withfeels off, but after reading that interview, it's becoming harder to believeShirohe'd still turn out to be some sort ofthey'll reveal him as a clone, another strike against that plot thread however isSleeper agent or plantwitnessing how Haggar's mind control/spying powers work.
Regarding thebit, it actually was thematically appropriate thatLance and Alluragave that speech becauseLanceit was a nice way to show growth from both characters. It was supposed to mirror what Allura told him when he was feeling unworthy of being a Paladin
The other thing though is that they don't sell any merch of the actual characters, right? It's just of the lions / Voltron. Wonder what the executive reasoning was.
Season 3 and 3.5 are kind of bad.
the Galra empire spent thousands of years conquering and it's taking them like a few months to take a third of it back.
Also Voltron has no equal. It just wins. You don't even get a sense that it can lose. What can Zarkon do besides use Lotor's Voltron? If he gets it that is. Galra have been neuteured and show is now boring.
I'm assuming there must have been a significant time jump between half-seasons?This half-season shows Allura with no issues piloting her lion whatsoever, and apparently Keith disappearing to go on missions with the Blade of Marmora had been going on for a while even though the show made zero mention of it before we actually saw it happening.
One of the first lines of the new episode was a character mentioning that they haven't heard/seen from Lotor in months.
Oh, right, I managed to forget that line.

Those scenes in episode 2 with Pidgewere amazing.in the graveyardmade me tear up. Definitely my favorite moment in the entire show. The "Oh no" combined with the music
On the whole I'd say this season felt rushed -Lotor's arc especially. I also didn't like how they wrote off Keith for a good chunk of the season when they were building him up to be the leader in the last one. Things went back to being (relatively) normal too quickly for my tastes with Shiro back in the leadership role. Plus the Galra ended up being mostly nonthreatening compared to the previous seasons so that was a big disappointment.

Liked it, I felt some stuff changed and got rushed but anyway! When is season 5?
Voltron Season 3 + 3.5
One day, Hunk will get a character arc to define him beyond the fat guy.
Also, I'm starting to suspect the team knows they're not good at giant robot fights, because there's a distinct lack of giant robot fights in both seasons. I'm serious, there's very little Voltroning going on.
Like the climax of 3.5 is Voltron apparently taking a planet, and it's mostly done off-screen.
