Wanted Dragon Age...............guess EA doesn't want sales......

Well.......it's been a trend for a while.....physical copies of new games are delayed days or months late when ordering from Amazon or other retailers. Or maybe a year if order from Limited Run Games. But EA has a AAA game coming out (and media was saying pre-orders were bad for Dragon Age) but I ordered Dragon Age on Amazon months ago and just got an email saying it won't arrive until 10 days after release. This is a big publisher!! WTF is that about? Forcing gamers to buy digital so EA get the majority of the profits?

I don't want digital, so I guess I need to maybe order for pickup from Target or Walmart on release day.

If the game industry is going to thrive, they need to make game available on release day, physical as well as digital. It was never an issue prior to the last few years. Seems like it is intentional, withholding release day copies.

I think you should take it as a sign and don’t spend $70+ on this. Wait till BF, it will drop.

I had a similar issue with Metaphor for PS5. My pre-order got stuck in limbo and a few days after release they told me they couldn't get any more stock...

I decided to wait for another week, got a refund and bought one of the last three copies from a small online store in the Netherlands. Game was nowhere to be found in Belgium.

Gaming in 2024.

I ordered the physical for Metaphor from amazon recently.

I was torn, honestly. I want the convenience and "security" of owning digital but I also want the physical item and the "security" of owning the license if I lose my account.

What tips it for me is the resale value. I could probably resell Metaphor after I beat it for nearly what I paid, then buy Metaphor Golden next year on Switch 2 in a steelcase...damn, 1st world problems...

Yeah no physical sucks OP. What is even the point of my 79.99 disc drive if my pro has nothing to be fed? That said, Veilguard scored 1 point too low on metacritic for me to play it, maybe next game Bioware!

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

This is not an EA issue.

This is an Amazon issue.

Users on GAF reported getting similar last minute delay messages for other games like Ys Nordics as well.

The same user reported ordering from Best Buy and getting their copy the same day.

It's also just really fun to own a game you love and to have that box, when the console is off you have the item to look at. It has a presence. Digital is convenient but...different. I'm very picky about which games I buy though.

You likely won't get the exact amount you bought it for but, as the days go on, physical is getting rarer I guess. So, you could break even.

I'm thinking this as well. Had a delay in getting the Evercade Kain copy, also the Evercade Atari Pocket (still hasn't shipped), and also a delay in the Switch Tomb Raider Deluxe edition. They have been BAD in the last year or two.

That's why I try to get physical.....but so often I ended up getting digital because of publisher or Amazon delays.

Resale value is the only reason I sometimes go physical. Even then I mostly only do it for games I'o in the fence about. Money pocketed has decreased a lot with people going all digital and increased eBay fees (can't be bothered to sell locally) etc.

Otherwise I pretty much never replay games and never was a collector type so I've got no interest in physical medial beyond reselling.

I have found that Best Buy tends to win out on Amazon when trying to get a game on day one.

Sometimes, you just have to run to a damn store to get a video game on release. Run to Walmart.

You’re like the 3rd or 4th GAF member who has recently complained about the delays with game pre-orders on Amazon. Since it's a popular physical release, just go out on release day and pick it up in-store from your local Best Buy, Target, Walmart or GameStop (I'm assuming you're from the US).

Yeah. Just run out to the store if Amazon is being a pain. I had to do that with Tears of the Kingdom.

Gamestop is also really good about getting it to you on release day. I did that with Echoes of Wisdom.

Cocoon physical for switch has been delayed for months now. I just got a refund. Not the same situation as the indie game is already out digitally, I know.

But wonder if it's related? Issues with certain businesses in China or wherever they are made.

I've been saying for awhile that this is not natural, these company's aren't stupid and they know perfectly well that this retarded woke crap will damage sales big time.

There's something else at play here, if you where the CEO of a big games company would you green light, Dustborn and the new Dragon age ?
