Yep I have a feeling this will kick much ass,but these teasers really tease...damn them :(

Yup, damn teaser. Always too little and always such a long wait. I'm actually anticipating this more then Episode III.

I thought I was supposed to have no movies to look forward to this summer? Now with in the span of an hour I've found 2 that I feel like counting the days till they come out? WTF?

I haven't read the book. I don't know what happens in the book. I don't WANT to know what happens in the book.

Is this going to be like
Aeris dies!
where everyone just assumes everyone else knows everything? Because then I'll just avoid these threads.

I mean, I know NOTHING. Maybe there isn't even anything to spoil. I don't want to know that either!

Yes.. I'm sorry to say but I think everyone will assume you know the ending. Avoid these threads. Now granted they could go a different route than the book/movie but I don't know for sure. And I guess there was some TV series as well. So it's been around and for alot of people the ending is old news, (plus it's one of those great moments. It just sticks out in your head.), so avoidance is really the best policy.

Thanks.

Goodbye!

I sure as hell hope Spielberg and Cruise won't mess this up. The original play was awesome and I love Jeff Wayne's musical version, but basing a movie on it? I don't know, it sounds somewhat boring. I suppose Spielberg could come up with a decent plot, but it wouldn't be true to the book. Oh, and the narrator on this should be British.

If I had to guess I would imagine there will be some allusion's in this film to state of humanity as it stands today, rather than just being a straight adaptation of a book or the 1960s movie.

Yes, it takes place in modern day "working class" America instead of London.

Anyways, after the super sappy endings to A.I., Minority Report, and Taken (even though Spielberg only produced that one) I'm worried how this will turn out.

That's what I'm afraid of: ID4 part 2. :(

Its Spielberg not Emmerich directing it...have some faith :P

The actual message could still be retained in the new film, but it would be considered anti american. Will Speilberg have the nuts to go for it and will Americans actually twig to what the message is?

I had worries about the remake, but so far, i'm impressed. I'd have prefered the original setting , but the fighting beyond the hills is at least a nod to the initial Horsell Common battle.

P.s. .... can we have Samuel L Jackson as the Parson??? He's the closest i can imagine to the raw madness of Phil Lynott from the Musical - who ROOOOOOOOOCKED as the parson.

that was shit. It was like that parody trailer of the voiceover man, only it was straight up sober.

And that family gathering and putting their hands on each others shoulders was just pure ID4 sap.

Just tell me it'll have funky spaceships and that death ray sound and I'm there.

j00 = -19 billion

TRIPODS or nothing.

haven't read the book. Are tripods in the book? Are they cool like the ones in the TV series 'Tripods' where you have to wear a colander on your head?

They'd be good too.

Nice tease the original is one of my favorite f'n movies ever and I keep hoping the TV series will make it to DVD some day... I have a question because I haven't been following this.

Does anybody know if they are going with the tripod leg walking ships of the original drawings, or the hovering on 3 energy legs of the movie?

And please, please tell me that regardless of which one they left the one searching eye energy ray up top....

One of the best scenes from the original movie, 3 guys walking up the hill waving the white shirt... eye is panning around.. you hear the sound(I know it's too much to hope they used the original or a version of that sound), the eye sees them... starts to power up.... bye bye 3 guys.....

yes, it's tripods in the book.
It was going to be tripods in the film too, but apparently, they couldn't achieve a good enough look.

Do a google image search for War of the worlds - tripods galore

I'll shut up... they DO SAY IT
\
HOT TIP... RICHARD BURTON>>>>> the fuckwit voicing the intro....
Cruise BETTER fucking deliver these lines to a Burton level.

However, i fully believe that Spielberg gets it and that this is an antiamerican film. Fair fucks if he goes the whole hog.

The chances from anything coming from mars were a million to one, they said.

Dang, I had wished they'd make the musical version :-/

Neato...I'm reading the online book right now, funny how wrong the first chapter is regarding Mars. :P I'm still anoyed that that dumbfuck Olimario spoiled the story. Goddamn fucking idiot, not everyone has seen the 50's movie or read the book.
