Warhammer 40k Space Marine -- 3rd Person Melee Shooter

hahaha great buzzwords

anyway it looks nice graphically, if there is an interesting story, and there is a lot of lore to draw upon, Im might take a look

looks clunky but im hopefull.

we deserve a great 40k based fps and or 3rd person shooter. 40k deserves a good action based video game, and Necromunda needs an MMO, and Space Hulk needs and updated strategy shooter.

has anyone played that Space Hulk mod for Dawn of War? is it any good? im interested.

Video is down, anyone got a link?

/edit: Sorry, found it.

Looks alright, but the animation and flow is fucking terrible. Also, those goddamn external camera slow motion moments need to fucking die already. Takes you out of the game too much.

/edit2: Nevermind, this is not salvageable.

I've tried it just now. It was sort of a letdown :-/ it's not that good of a conversion. It's not even turn based, but they captured some of the original spirit. I should play some more to see if it's becomes better later.

yeah i figured. thanks for the impressions. let us know if it get better. i want a really good SH video game one day...

Looks like it could be cool, but right now pretty meh...combat doesn't seem to flow well at all. Also, WTF was that rythm 1st person boxing match at the end?!

For an early build, that doesn't look too shabby. But damn, can't wait to see what the Necrons will look like.

the only 40k game that is guaranteed to own face in the future is dawn of war 2
warhammer games other then relic's seem to be average for the most part (warhammer online not included)

Shadow of the horned rat, dark omen, final liberation, the space hulks, if anything dawn of war was a return to form.

I believe this was intended for Internal viewing only, hence the heinous use of Buzzwords and Catchphrases.

They have to start somewhere - and it's usually to sell internal marketing etc. :)

It's really early, obviously... but it looks like it has a fair bit of potential.

Guess we'll see, though.

It will automatically be better than Fire Warrior, because it features the motherfucking Space Marines, instead of the stupid fucking Tau.

As much as I love Tau, Fire Warrior was not for the Greater Good.

Come on though, any race would be more interesting to star in a "3rd Person Melee Shooter" than Space Marines. Like, for example, ANGRY MARINES!

Ah I missed it. Where the hell did this come from THQ?

It's 40k... I'm day one no matter what.

I don't care how many different animations they have, those 'cinemaction' moments are going to get really damn old really damn fast.

Also this is obviously a Gears ripoff but one of the things that made Gears great was the tension that came from being close to death all the damn time. If this Space Marine guy is even half as indestructible as that video made it seem then it will be dull as all hell.

Edit: Amazing environments though.

The Chaos Marines look bad ass.

Adequate representation of Khorne and Nurgle representation must be met.

Wouldn't mind a nice Inquisition presence somehow as well.

And we can't have a Warhammer 40K thread without reminding folks why when you think of "spaces marines", Warhammer is what you should think of. The Emperor does not look well upon traitors and heretics.

All hail the true Machine Gods:

Hopefully in the final game those cinematic kills don't snap the camera in and out. the jump is jarring. If the camera zooms in and out that'd be great though.

This "cine-massacre" bullshit is as bad as QTEs. It feels like an 80s hair metal guitar solo, where an animator is like " Look at me!"

Just let me do this shit in the game and stop being so lazy, developers...

Looks like it has lots of potential. Now please don't just keep it fighting chaos in gothic settings. If they have varied settings and enemies like Orks, Tyranids, Necrons, and Eldar this could be really awesome. If it's just set against Chaos in typical gothic settings then it will be much less of a game.
