Digital Foundry: Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 PS5 Pro Tech Review - A Success for PSSR + Performance Boosts!

This game can look really good IMO.

Unfortunately that's only in Quality mode at 30 fps though .....while the Performance mode looks good compared to PS5's Perf mode, compared to Quality mode it takes a huge hit to texture quality and detail. Again, Performance mode doesn't look bad by any stretch but it sucks having to make such a big compromise on the Pro!

Compared to say, Dragon Age Veilguard, it's a big hit to graphics when switching modes ....the Quality mode looks incredible though I just wish Performance retained the high resolution textures and dropped resolution a little to achieve it.

Yeah, it kinda sucks.
Not suggesting to keep those settings on, as each screenshot can get extremely heavy, but for comparisons sake this is the only way to get those perfect, uncompressed screenshots.

Same way it's been for almost a decade on both PS4 and PS4 Pro.

The alternative JPG option unfortunately priorities file size more than anything, and usually results in massacred color depth other than heavily compressed detail.

I have to download the pic from the app and then upload to imgur. Pain in the ass.
Not sure if the App itself compresses the images, but Imgur for sure does and in a brutal way on PNG 4K screenshots.

It is a bit of a pain in the ass, but what I do is to transfer to USB and then upload to either ImgBB or PostIMG, even though the former has a pretty severe bandwidth limit so I wouldn't exactly recommend.

Thanks for the tips

I've included a 4K DLSS performance screenshot and a downsampled screenshot to show how this game should look like without TAA blur.

PC 4K DLSS performance

Great comparison, thanks. As expected DLSS is a bit sharper with more sharpening as both actually are resolving about the same amount of details. But DLSS is a bit more aliased (the backpack thingy of the main character, the weapon) and water is more pixelated on PC but overall they are both very similar.

This is really an impressive result for PSSR! in this game PSSR objectively performs about as good as DLSS at least in stills. Now can you do the same comparison in a scene with stuff in fast motion?
