Man Whedon scripts suck. I've never enjoyed a show from him or a movie
The only good thing he has ever made was written by a guy 415 years ago.

I'll give you The Avengers but that doesn't retroactively ruin him.The only good thing he has ever made was written by a guy 415 years ago.
Before the movies, the most well known Avengers were Hulk and Captain America. Comparatively, Superman and Batman are the most popular superheroes ever, Wonder Woman is the most popular female superhero ever, and Flash and Aquaman are both well known. People may not have known all the details, but the JL were definitely the more popular group in mainstream consciousness.
Avengers only did well because people associated its name with the 1960s British TV series, IMO.
I can count the number of movies I've walked out of my entire life on one hand, and that Fiennes/Thurman/Connery remake is one of them.Avengers only did well because people associated its name with the 1960s British TV series, IMO.

You're right.I'm amazed that people can argue with a straight face that its success had nothing at all to do with the five films preceding it. Seriously.
You're right.
After all, it's Maths. Let's look at this seriously.
Iron Man 2 = $623,933,331
Iron Man = $585,174,222
Thor = $449,326,618
Captain America = $370,569,774
The Incredible Hulk = $263,427,551
As we can see, if we add up the total of all 5 movies, Avengers underperformed. It's not the success deluded Marvel fanboys, such as yourself, seem to think. As a matter of fact, Avengers was so shit that it lost Marvel about $800 million worldwide. Iron Man 2 may as well have been a separate movie since the main character (Terrence Howard) ended up being re-cast. So it makes sense that fans of the original didn't return. Then there is the fact that Edward Norton was also replaced so the fans of Hulk likely didn't come back either. Now seeing as Iron Man 3 made $1.2 billion at the Box Office, and Thor and Captain America are struggling to even go past a measly $800 million, it means that only fat nerds who remain away from the real world actually bother showing up to watch those latter movies, whilst all human beings seem to be fine with Iron Man.
In conclusion, I think Iron Man overcame the greatest adversity of having their main character replaced, then created a whole new main character in the white guy from U.S. Marshals and has now gone onto be very successful. When we really think about it, he's the most realistic character. He's a man who became a robot. But he's a man. Captain America? Awkward nerd power fantasy who can't even talk to women from the 1940s. Thor? Some magical white guy wielding a hammer (what kind of outdated middle ages shitty weapon is this?). Hulk? He's fucking green, nobody gives a shit about him.
The reason Avengers seems to be so important to fanatical fans is probably because it's the one chance they have to interact with the real world without feeling like they're still 10 years old who shouldn't be outside without their parents permission. And it's the one time the general populace seems to be fine with being in the vicinity of these kind of people. But clearly, not enough of them have overcome their fear as seen by the disappointing gross of Avengers.
Maybe by the time of Avengers 2, all of them will show. That will be the true success story, I'm sure.
You're right.

I can't even follow what the hell you're trying to argue here. Dude, calm the fuck down. Marvel Studios didn't commit atrocities against your family.
I got a feeling that this post will be brought out again if Batman vs superman bombs lolThat post is Math. Math is fact. You'll understand once a few more years go by and your understanding develops.

How are people falling for a post that says
Now? Sure. Five to six years ago? Probably not.I think yeah, you can sell the members better than the avengers members but I think the cache behind the name of avengers has more weight than JL.
I think if you asked people on the street what the justice league was they wouldn't know.
"Gods and Mortals" by George PerezOn the same note, and for personal research, can folks recommend some Wonder Woman comics to check out?
I honestly mostly know her from the cartoons, the movie and a bit of the TV show.
I've read some of her new 52 run, and a few years back when she had a talking cat.
Saying the lead up had nothing to do with its success is silly, of course. However, saying it was successful mainly because of the lead up movies? That's pretty silly too, as far as I'm concerned.I'm amazed that people can argue with a straight face that its success had nothing at all to do with the five films preceding it. Seriously.
Joke post. His point is not everybody who watched the first five movies watched Avengers or vice versa. He just kind of went off the rails and a couple people still thought the post was serious.
Not an accomplishment. No one cares about Superman. In their indifference, somehow $650 million was grossed, but that's a mistake we can understand. People probably thought it was a porn movie.Winter Soldier should outgross Man of Steel this week. Hail Hydra.
I wasn't trying to argue that at all. My post covers a variety of topics, and is clear, concise, and perfectly reasonable. Once you reach the age of fifteen, you'll probably be able to better understand it.Nah, I get that he was attempting to sarcastically argue his point that Avengers would have been just as big a hit on its own. But it really just comes off as rambling, angry, and unhinged.

I don't think I have ever scene such a condescending post from someone on a gaming forum before. Like are really angry are a post about comicbook movie box office results.
Wow. This post is insane.

Winter Soldier gross makes sense since I'm sure he appeals to the far right of America who left their home country when a black President was appointed and scattered to the four corners of the Earth. That's a large amount of international racist people who Captain America was made for. It kinds of makes sense really. All these superheroes and not one of them is coloured, except for Hulk who is green, which isn't even a real colour. Only female of the group is also only there to pose and show off her ass.
Edit:

Not like I can prove otherwise, but I think that without the buildup, it'd have been lucky to gross half of what it did.
Even for people who didn't see all (or any) of the first five MCU films, those films and the promotional blitz around them significantly elevated the cultural profile of the characters they starred, and coming over a span of four years, I believe that made Avengers seem like much more of an event to the average moviegoer than it would have been had it just been "hey, here's six superheroes in one movie."
I also agree that we need to take our time and spend 2 hours explaining the motivation of man who talks with fishes. We need to do a full character study here. Only then will people truly be able to appreciate why this fish-man is trying to intervene in the matters of human beings. We could probably borrow some footage from BBC Planet Earth. Whilst we're at it, we should probably make this new version of Aquaman a black muslim also.Nah man you can have a movie where Aquaman shows up and says "Yep, Atlantis is real and I'm its King, bitches. Now don't question my background, motivation or character at all and care about me."

I mean, I don't know what Justice League is about, but I'm trying to tackle the problem in advance. We need to think ahead. Do something revolutionary.
What do you think about a 10 hour movie? I think about 90 minutes with every central character should be good for setting up the main conflict which we can resolve in about 30-60 minutes.
