Country has been placed on the red alert with the South to take most of the damage.

kent is said to get hit the worst and i live right there ):

maybe i should go axe the 3 huge trees around my house for safety precautions

I read that as BETTER Britain and didn't question it.

Can't wait for everyone I speak to this week talking about the weather.

Pfft, you call that a storm? Lol.

30mm? So it's going to rain? We had 60mm here a week or two ago and it was just another day.

Breaking News! It's going to be really windy and it will rain a bit.

Tomorrow evening throughout Monday night will see landfall of what they're saying will be the largest storm since 1987.

We're expected strong 80-90mph winds and torrential rain of 30mm and possible flood warnings.

Country has been placed on the red alert with the South to take most of the damage.

Prepare guys, and keep safe! This'll be my first time in the eye of a storm.

Better be prepared then.

It's unusual for a storm to hit.

Also, Britain cannot handle shit, so what's the harm in warning people?

We cannot cope when Summer hits 25* where you guys can.

We're not used to it, sheesh.

Halloween Poogie Billy!

Tis a true statement, so very true... I mean when we were flooded =/

So, just like storms I deal with once or twice a year. Whats the big deal?

Kent? High-five!

30mm doesnt seem too bad though

30mm in a short period can lead to some flash flooding. Those winds are fairly strong too - expect to lose some roofs and fallen trees.

Saying that, a lot of these warnings are worst case and it probably won't be that bad.

A gram of snow could fall on those toffs in the south east and it would be the most apocalyptic shit in the world to them. Biggest storm since 1987? The media's reaction will probably be the equivalent of Operation Square Leg being carried out.

Hey, i'm just the messenger out to warn people.

I doubt it'll be that bad, but if you look at the weather map, the thing is pretttyyyy huge for what we usually see here.

I'm just winding you guys up. ;)

I survived Typhoon Soulik this year, you guys can survive this. It's just a wee bit of rain and wind.

Yeah, we'll be fine. Just expect damage, fallen trees etc.

It's gonna be terrible since I have empty loft space above my room, so any sound of wins already sounds like a tornado, so I bet I won't get any sleep tomorrow.

I don't understand why some people seem to get all 'pfft, so what' over warnings like this (not referring to this forum, just in general :P). People almost always die in these things, so it makes sense to issue warnings, right? The storm in 2007 killed like 11 people, and Europe wide there were over 40 deaths. It's not everyday, or even yearly weather here.

That said I don't see anything to suggest this will be worse than the 1987 storm. Currently there are only 'amber' weather alerts and no red ones for example, and the predicted wind speeds are barely 90mph.

Yep. A lot of trees aren't often tested by high winds and they come down. Also roof tiles everywhere.

edit: I apologise for the post that was previously here. After RTFAing this probably isn't something that one should be flippant about.

Southern England gets hit by a decent windstorm and it's the end of the fucking world. The northern half of the UK gets clobbered several times each winter and we just dealwithit.gif.

So this is affecting London? I kinda want it to affect London.

It sure is.

I'll be in my bed trying to play Pokemon whilst my roof tears down.

Outside, there's flags tied to a lamppost which seems to be blowing pretty hard right now. Can only imagine it tomorrow night.
