After watching 45 minutes of the stream I'm almost completely uninterested in the game. It just looks so average.

I don't know what I thought it was going to be, but nothing I just watched looked really exciting or new. It was just another open world game, but with hacking. Even the visuals look really uninteresting. It went from being gorgeous (upon reveal) to just having some graphics.

I've been looking forward to play Watch_Dogs for a long time, but after this I don't really care anymore. I'm sure a lot of people will love it but, after seeing what it's actually like, I don't think there's anything that will draw me in.

I've already paid for it on Steam so I'm going to try the game anyway, but I'm really bummed out now. This sucks.

Forgive me, but why would you not get a refund at this point? It is mindboggling to me that anyone would pay any amount of money for a game they do not want. :eek:

how do you do the dope gun executions? didn't see any on the streams.


Is there backstory for the protag? He's pretty action hero man for just a 'hacker'.

Him shooting that car at the end was actually pretty impressive. The way the windows filled with bullet holes before they shattered. The way the tires popped when he shot them. Some Division shit.

I just assume it's like RDR you run up on them and pull the trigger without aiming at melee range. Might be wrong though!

Backstory for him is, he messed around with some bad stuff, pissed off the wrong people. Bad folks were out to kill him and killed his niece instead, now he wants payback.

Meh, I've spent more money on worse things.

I'm not upset that I paid for the game as much as I'm disappointed that the game is not what I anticipated. I'll still give it a go and probably play through the whole thing because I have nothing to do over the next little while, but I'm not expecting anything memorable now.

yeah, but i dont recall reading anything about him being former military, gang banger or anything that is a reason for him to be so... efficient at murderizing people lol

This is from GTA4 so it might have changed but to me the missions feel repetitive same reason I could not get into AC. Fail mission system forcing me to start over a long play through got boring fast. Overall it just felt like a really slow burn, I want something I can pick up and play for a hour and still feel like I have progressed.

The Gamespot stream was actually pretty neat. I only caught the Spider-Tank and the tablet multiplayer chase, and both seemed fun.

40$ PS4 preorder justification intensifies.

Well we don't know too much about the missions here yet, but there are a lot more options for taking on challenges (stealth/hacking) so that could shake things up a bit. For instance, some objectives are things like "Kill all enemies or Escape". There also seems to be ridiculous amount of stuff to do outside of the story. I'd wait for reviews, but I think you might like it.

At first I wasnt sure about how i felt about these side missions with spider tanks and all. But I am starting to like them.

Any word on how long the SP story is?

Felt the same about GTA4. I'm willing to give this game a shot though.

I kinda just want to thank you for providing your perspective here. This is just so far removed from my approach to these things it's really interesting to see. I would never be able to bring myself to spend even $10 on something that really didn't appeal to me (especially if it originally did and then disappointed me as time progressed); furthermore, I'm completely saturated with quality stuff to play right now and this game's release means it will be fighting for playtime! :)

I think you pretty much summed up how I felt after watching the stream also. It doesn't look bad, but nothing really stood out to me that makes me want to rush out and buy it. I'll probably wait for a Steam sale or Gamefly.

Watching that gamestop stream now. The guys in the bottom left are incredibly annoying.

Game looks great to me though, sooo.... :p Is this the PS4 version?

SweetFX with a touch of vibrance might be fun for this on PC.

Also, I know this isn't something that really gets people going or anything, but I think the UI for this game is just delicious. Games score points for me when the UI at least doesn't actively clash with the tone and graphical presentation in play, but this one legitimately compliments it.

edit: Dang. That hacking skill tree is going to be so filled.

If that's why you didn't like GTA IV then I strongly recommend you give GTA V a go. It fixes all those issues. Obviously I cant speak for Watch Dogs since I haven't played it.

Huh, the way you get Blackouts isn't what I was expected, I can dig it though. The idea of stockpiling a few and keeping the city in mass panic for a few minutes is hilarious
