Watch_dogs: Wind, Water, light effects - [PS4 version confirmed]

Damn! Some of the PC master race must feel a little embarrassed now...

Hi Childplease!
Very well you can remain delusional if you choose but we digress.

This thread is about the new Impressive PC watchdogs video and how much nicer it looks than the console versions.

Anyone else glad they finally opened up about the pc version ?

Soooo much better.
this is gold!
Now we know who to take seriously from now on.

[UPDATE]

PCGamesHardware has confirmed that what was shown was from the PS4 DevKit and not from the PC version. Naturally that’s not PCGH’s fault as Ubisoft initially claimed that the video was from the PC version.

“This video really is a pain in the ass. Ubisoft told us via e-mail “this is PC footage”. And after we published the video they say “Oops, sorry, this is not PC but PS4 devkit””

Oh Ubi.... You are fucking with us on purpose. :D

Haha some people in this thread must feel really stupid now.

It was really impressive footage when I thought it was from the PC version, but now I know it's actually from the PS4 version, the graphics are still pretty shoddy.

10/10.

All this nonsense just adds credence to my theory that the teams responsible for QA and release of promotional videos for Watch_Dogs have some serious problems.

How did I miss the most amusing thread in ages?

Got to say as a PC centric gamer with a PS4 who won't touch Ubisoft on PC this makes me pretty happy - interested in the game but only on PS4.

Wonder if the DF Face off thread for this on PS4/XB1 can top this one?

LOL great thread. Looks good actually. But not SO good. The water and lighting is a huge downgrade from the first footage, but I'll accept those graphics. Also, I think I saw someone claiming the game will be 60fps on PS4 and XBone? Is that real?

3 to 1 I say the original email was right, and the video was PC, but they don't want to put any shadow of doubt over the console version (which is the one that will bring strong profits) so for now officially the pc version won't be shown.

There are maybe a half dozen comments that actually fit that description, while most of the other comments are from fans of other platforms who are just gloating and distorting what actually happened. Who's the greater offender here?

This would actually be a great April Fools. Hopefully it was. Anyway, I actually think the game does look the same as E3 2013 afterall from what I can see. I am pretty happy with that. It does look better than AC IV to me and it is still cross gen.

It took you this long to realize he's a troll?
Yea i probably should have realized it when he called Infamous a "cross gen game" and claimed Arkham City looks better, my bad :)

I didn't say all PC users, i said "some".

i really can't take those guys seriously, it was obvious to me and others that the improvements are not visible or minimal and we were honest about it unlike others who just want a confirmation that their platform rocks.

You relaly think these new consoles wiht their small install bases and for which 80+% of sales are still retail will bring in more proft for Ubi than the more established PC market where 90% of sales are digital and atleast some percentage will be direct form Ubi's store?

It would have to sell like 3 times the numbers on consoles than PC. It's not impossible, but I think it's unlikely.

I figure 2-3 million sales on PC 4 million sales total on consoles. That would still likely mean a higher profit from PC.

I think some of you are going too far with it. Some people may genuinely think this footage looks better than the previous trailers similar to the way some people thought the Welcome to Chicago trailer looked better than the Story Trailer. It's also why some people think there has been a downgrade. The game has a lot of dynamic elements and different footage can give a different impression of the visuals. It doesn't all come down to people getting fooled or being completely biased like some of you seem to think.

-It was a video outlining the features of the game.
-People assumed they were PC exclusive features.
-comments were made about how much better the PC version was and how the PS4 couldn't manage these features,

Those are the comments I am kind of talking about.

You're not contradicting what he said. There was like one guy who made a comment about how the PS4 couldn't run the features. And no one thought anything was PC exclusive except possibly for the water tessellation.

The rest of the thread is PS4 fanboys circle jerking.

2-3 mil sales on PC is too much, especially if you look at full priced product. FC3 was sudden and unexpected success for Ubi on PC, and they managed only to sell 1 million of them.

Expect about same number for PC version of WD.

I take that bet.

At the time that the video will be available again with the PS4 logo will immediately become misleading advertising, right?

Your PC numbers are very very optimistic.

Seems pretty clear to me:
New footage is shown that is the same as everything we have already seen.
Footage is labeled PC Version. People begin claiming the game looks better and is out of the reach of the consoles currently.

PS4 fanboys circle jerk? Are you serious? Did you even read through the thread?

- PC effects showcase appeared on German website
- many gaffers claimed this looks great and will never look that way on PS4
- many demanded blood because of apparent downgrades of PC/PS4 version
- video is proven to be running on PS4
- Ubisoft wins award for best April Fools joke of 2014

-footage came out
-people thought it looked great and thought it was PC footage
-PC bros made silly statements about the power of PCs
-turns out, it was ps4 footage
-ps4 bros now mock the PC elitists

"PC" footage was actually PS4 and Childplease happened.

Hahaha thanks. By the way, I never get tired of linking childplease aka gibonez aka socomnick's NG4 comments since he was a massive 360 fanboy there who always trashed anything Sony/PS. Then when the PS3 started to get more appealing by mid-end of last gen he switched to PC.

Here are some of his comments on N4G. Behold at such brilliance.

The previous best PC seller for Ubisoft barely matched one console platform, and now the PC is going to match up to 70% of ALL console platforms?

What a slamdunk for Ubisoft!

Your PC numbers are very very optimistic.
Yeah these 3rd party games are very console centric. PC won't come close to console sales numbers. I believe Titanfall on Xbone is outselling the PC version like 8 or 9 to 1. I imagine PC will sell about 500k and console versions will sell about 4-5 million.

There were a few of them. For example, someone was explaining how it was a proper simulation of wind not just things blowing everywhere in one direction. Another person responded to it basically saying not to bother trying to explain this to console gamers because they are in their own little bubble, Then you have the childplease comments everyone seems to be quoting.

Whoa that seems a little off to be fair and incredibly optimistic.

Can you link to this info (assumign it's not from vgachartz). I can't find anything other than the PC verison helping Ubi boost digital sales a ton:

Whoa that seems a little off to be fair and incredibly optimistic.

Well like I said, I'd like to see comparison figures. I don't know how popular Ubisoft games ar eon PC, but common a semi popular alpha game with ZERO marketing sold more than a million copies in a few week on PC.

Ubi's got to do better than that, no?

And note, I'm talking next gen (or current gen) consoles. NOT last gen consoles with their 80+ million install base. I think you guys are over estimating the sales figures for these new machines. They don't have the isntall base yet. They will, in like a year or two, but now?

I will actually eat my own shoe if the PC sells 2-3 million. There are almost no PC games that sell in those kind of numbers, the ones that do are usually from Blizzard or The Sims.
Edit: you also fail to account for how many PC's can actually run watchdogs at a decent clip (or just better than consoles right now.)

Patcher mentioned in few videos that Ubi people told him about 1 million sales on PC, maybe 2-3 months after the game was released.
It was part of the Q&A of an investor call. If you really want to know about Ubisoft you read Nirolak's threads.

Hahaha you must be kidding. PC sales from traditional AAA games will never even come close to console sales. Last year Far Cry 3 sold 6 million units, the PC version only makes up 1 million of that.

The pc number comes from a recent Ubi employee tweet during the whole open world, inFamous vs WD thing.

Here I was thinking what is wrong with these people talking about it looking better than previous trailers and it turned out to be the PS4 version afterall. Embarrassing.

What?

The total war franchise sold over 2 million in a year without ANY new releases, and Rome 2 sold a lot mroe than 2 million.

If you think Skyrim didn't sell severla million units on PC, you're crazy. There are a ton of games that sell well north fo a million units on PC.

The number of PC's that will run the game just fine is something in the 40% of PC gamers assuming Steam stats is anything to go by. That's tens of millions at least. Better than a PS4? Well that isn't required to play the game, yet that number is larger than the current PC4 install base.

Reading comprehension fail?

I'm talking CURRENT GEN consles here, which is what Iw as responding to originally, witht heir 6 million or so intall bases, NOT last gen consoles with their 90+ million install bases.

Jeebus, it's liek talking to rocks.

wow, the first page is pretty funny in retrospect. just goes to show that everyone's already picked their side.
