We had to shelve "The Guy Game" today

Suikoguy

I whinny my fervor lowly, for his length is not as great as those of the Hylian war stallions
We were told to shelve and hold "The Guy Game" till further notice at gamestop today.
I remember hearing the story about the underage girl, but nothing came of it last I heard.
I guess something did.

Did not bother me, no more copies need to sell anyway :)

Are you in Texas or is this a nationwide gamestop decision?

Some chick in Texas is suing the company that made the game, Sony, and Microsoft too for being filmed underage!

Remember what i said about the contract with the underage girl?

;)

Too bad this hasn't happened to all of the crappy games on the market, then there would be such a smaller selection to choose from. Someone should make a website that has only games for sale that aren't crap in a box. A game store or something.

There was an underage girl filmed? How did that happen?!
They reward you with naked ladies if you do so well or something. One of the pictures came from a spring break thing a couple years ago, the girl was 17 at the time and is suing.

What did a real game like Gradius V or R Type Final Sell??
I'm gonna wager about oh... 5 or 6? i dont understand why people buy "games" like this though? we've had so many people come in and ask for the Playboy Mansion game, and if its out yet... its kinda scaring me.

I don't think games like this appeal to the hardcore game player like most of those found on these boards. I'd guess they sell to more casual gamers who don't get dates. :D Seriously, who buys this crap?

They appeal to those who get REAL dates and don't waste their time on gaming message boards...
:D

So, if you don't visit forums and you do go on dates (with women, I suppose?), it appeals to you to stare at video footage of some tits while trying to play a shitty video game?

Well yeah, but don't they have to get release forms signed from the girls in order to use their likeness in the game? Wouldn't they be checking identification in order to do this?

All GameStops were told to pull the game about 4 weeks ago when this story came up. Apparently a lot were too busy to notice the email during Christmas, so they just resent the request out to stores this week for those who didn't get it the first time.

Isn't the guy in charge of the house that put out 'The Guy Game' the same one that used to head up Retro? How the mighty have fallen...

No kidding? That would be priceless.

"Topheavy Studios was formed by Jeff Spangenberg in 2003, who has previous experience running Retro Studios. Before that, he worked at Iguana, which was absorbed by Acclaim Entertainment."

BTW, the game cannot be found at gamestop.com, BestBuy, Walmart, or Amazon. Only EB still has the game available. I guess their lawyers haven't called in yet...

His fall from Grace began with his partying with cracked up whores. (no lie)

Just now? We had to do it the day after the news broke.

well, its the first our store had heard of it
we must have missed the other email, they should have mentioned it in a confrence call or something

I rushed out that day and bought the game for $35 used after I read about the lawsuit, thinking all stores were going to pull it off the shelves immediately. I am an idiot. And the boobs aren't even that good.

You paid $35 for this, when googling "naked boobs" will get you nigh on millions of hits for free? I don't touch porn with a ten-foot cattle prod, but why the fuck would anyone pay for this game?

Some people think that, since you pay for something, the quality is automatically going to be much, much better than something free.

There are boobs on the internet?? Golly. I never knew that.

Anyway, I didn't pay $35 for the boobs. I bought the game because I thought it was going to be instantly pulled from all stores (as the judge's order decreed) and become something of a collectable or novelty. It still might be eventually, but since most stores didn't pull it right away, I doubt it. I've been collecting video games for over 15 years, so things like "banned game" pique interest, even with sorry crap like this.

So underage porn = collectible? Enjoy your riches.

On a side note, I like how the developer made the not-so-subtle argument that any male reviewer who didn't like its game was gay.

Okay, I'm junior member so I know I will catch some flack, BUT....

What's the deal with the elitist attitude on this forum?

This is a bad game by all standards, but it's a drinking game aimed at college frat boys for God's sake, it's supposed to be played in a group. There's nothing like it out there, it addresses a niche market, I guess most would have preferred another FPS instead.

No, game removed from stores = interesting video game item. Like Tengen Tetris for the NES. But sweet christ, whatever, I'm going to go beat myself with a stack of Atlus games now because I bought The Guy Game. My deepest apologies to those who's aesthetic sensibilities I have wounded with my purchase.

Still doesn't change the fact that you purchased the game due to its illegality.
