We have ignition (AKA Official Meteos Topic)

I dunno, I seem to get 1 or 2 each per play in simple mode. Megadon seems to yield time meteos and Florias seems good for soul, for example. Hevendor has also been giving me both time and soul off and on... nice bonus in that it's probably the easiest planet to launch from.
They've called it Hevendor? :lol

The kana in my version reads very much like "Heaven's Door".

Guess I've just been unlucky then :(

Is there a tutorial in the game?

Yeah. Select Tutor on the menu. It doesn't really teach you anything other than the basic line up 3 symbols and launch them.

I've found the scribble technique to work TOO well. Sometimes it's hard to refrain from abusing it, but the game still remains enjoyable.

Yes, padawans, start learning! My 1000-block Meteo Attack time awaits you!

meteos_TA_1000.jpg

DANG. How long did you play before you could get scores like that? I was happy to finally beat 1000-block with a time of 2:37.

Fuck, I tried to sleep last night, but all I could think about was Meteos.

I played it until 3:00 AM.

So addicting...

Can someone tell me if this was speeded up? If not...holy cow...this game gets haaaaaard. From IGN boards.
Just spotted this, heh! That's a pretty good 2 minute Time Attack run, he holds the accelerator almost all the way through. Also, he has a higher score than me by about 10000, so I must play more now! :D

And btw, the time attack modes are at a fixed difficulty.

The original Japanese website has "Heaven's Door" for its English name. The Nintendo religion censors strike again!

More like, the 8 letter limit on US planet names strikes... Hevendor beats Heavensd....

Haha, yeah same here. My g/f and I battled it out over wireless until 2:20am last night. I must say that game received a lot more play time than most others on the first day that I got it.

This game is insane. Addicting and intense and totally fucking awesome. Any lingering doubts I had about picking up a DS a few days ago are totally gone.

seriously, the first round of star trip, I was going "wtf? This is the great meteos? Damn. The videos looked so cool, too."

And then I tried another round... and another... and another.... :lol

I have the Japanese version, and I'm still debating on whether or not to get the English version...Regardless of what version you have, Meteos simply owns.

How many planets are there to unlock? I'm wanting more, at the moment I have I think.. a whole row of them and one more beneath it. How can I unlock more?

Just collect meteos and once you reach the threshhold for a planet, it will appear in the fusion menu. Some exceptions include the planets unlocked at 1 hour and 5 hours, and Meteo (I think you need to see 8 endings first). The whole list will be full in the end ... so 32.

So what's everyone's favorite ending?

I smiled at
the act of planets sending meteos towards each other becoming a sport.
:lol

Is there a scores thread for Meteos anywhere? Would be nice to see what other people are doing.

Only one of mine I know offhand is 9.13s in 100-meteos war.

I got this game today, it's hot. I don't quite understand it yet, but I will. Somethings just don't make sense sometimes. Like why things stay attached sometimes and sometimes they fall apart... I don't know. I'm a nub at it.

Anyone know how many of the diff meteos are required to unlock LASTAR?

It's the only one still not in my list... I'm waiting to unlock more planets until I have the fusion room full :)

I played 100-meteos war today got hooked on that mode all day and made it in 8.99 seconds. Damn, Hyoushi 7 seconds is insane man

I got stuck on the 1000 Meteos War. Died at 980-something twice...

Does anyone know how many total planets there are?

I think they are 32 in total

This is one of the finest puzzle games I've ever played and probably my favorite since Tetris Attack. It's absolutely brilliant and incredibly addictive.

I'll respond to my own post, just because. LASTAR requires 1500 glow and 2 time.

I've unlocked every planet, except Meteo, because I wanted it to occupy the last spot on the list. I've gotta say, Meteos has hooked me much more than Lumines did, although I won't ever say anything bad about Lumines (it's great, it's wonderful; it just so happens Meteos suits me more).

All of these puzzlers coming out this year, man, really makes me wish someone would release a really good version of Tetris... kind of like Magical Tetris Challenge, only without the Disney license... or an arcade-perfect port of Puzzle Fighter (DS, PSP, i dont care)

PROTIP: You should know that you can send Meteos blocks up by flicking them up from the top of the pile. However, if you flick another one after it and the two colors are the same, they'll both explode and be cleared. Handy if you have a column that's starting to get a little tall and you can't find three for a vertical.

Just gotta spread more love. It's so freakin intense. I know the DS is just a stupid gimmick running PS1 hardware and whatever, but shit that little stylus makes the game eons more involving than it could possibly otherwise be.

I also catch myself tapping the top screen far too often.

I dream of setting up chunk after chunk of meteos till I ingite a giant full screen block of them into space.
Yes, a full-width boost... It's great. And also a necessary skill to learn, since one of the missions in mission-based startrip is to clear the screen at least once before winning :D

A full-width boost is also quite useful in getting a good 100 block Meteo Attack time.

Fuck. I did it again. Tried sleeping, played meteos until 4:00 AM. :lol

Don't forget Pac 'N Roll & Advance Wars: Dual Strike (and Nintendogs, if you want it) in August! :D

Yeah, I'll definitely be getting Advance Wars and Nintendogs. Pac 'N Roll looks really fun (and I read it was). Hopefully the final product is a little better than Pac-Pix (which was good, but only as a $20 game).

Arrgh! Just like Gaimeguy, Meteos has screwed up my sleeping habits. I tried to get to bed at 1:00 am last night but those damn Meteos blocks kept running through my head. I ended up finally sleeping at 4:00. Imagine if this game was online.

Most impressions point towards Pac 'N Roll being a much more fun and complete game than Pac Pix.

playing the 1000-meteos war my best time as of now is 2:41 minutes man I'm totally hooked with the time war mode I want to do less than 2 minutes in the 1000 meteos war mode :)

btw is there in any thread where one can see the high scores of the people playing the game in GAF?

oh man it better be. I got ripped on pac pix :(

Damn, my meteos didn't arrive today either....

i just rented it without expecting to like it, but it turns out i LOVE it. generally i don't care for sliding-tile puzzle games of this sort -- i don't even like tetris attack -- but for some reason this is tremendous fun. launching blocks into the air rather than simply clearing them is awesome, and i love all the different planets and their different parameters. the space theme really works for me too. i'm not fond of the structure, particularly...i really wish there was a standard single-player mode where you progress through stages and are awarded a score. star trip is fun, but you can't really gauge your skill by it, and i don't like playing single planets. the basic mechanics place it among the genre's best, but without a good high-score mode, i'm not sure how long i'll stick with it. i'm buying it anyway...i guess there's that gamerush sale tomorrow? first good ds game, by my reckoning (another code was a bust...it's essentially a graphic adventure for kids...it plays out like resident evil without the zombies...several hours in a couple clever puzzles show up, and it seems like it's going to get good, but then puzzles disappear altogether and it turns into a crap digital comic for its final third or so. this is either a horrible design decision or a sign that the game was horribly rushed. avoid.)

Man, the main menu music is great to fall asleep to and wake up to. :lol

I love it.

... I have to go to work in 6 hours, and I still haven't gone to sleep. :|

Well, me too, but I was too busy playing to post :P

Meteo and Vubble are mine. Vubble is great for stocking up on Glow meteos, and Meteo is the best place to earn Time and Soul meteos.

Just rented the game yesterday. I like it but i'm not all over. It does not catch me.
Maybe there's something i didn't get? This game was supposed to be really deep...
So far on DS i prefer Polarium and Puyo Pop Fever.

The depth is not evident at first but it will slowly dawn on you.

Damn, I have been playing Meteos way too much lately. It's even kept me away from GAF. :lol
I have been fusing sound sets left and right but planets hardly ever come up. The sound sets now cost 1000 of a certain Meteos but I tend to have large stockpiles of these particular ones.

I love it. This is one of the best DS showcase: you couldn't play this game on any other console. Can't wait to test the multiplayer!

Why not? The second screen is pretty useless and with a mouse you could have essentially the same type of quick reaction if not better because you'd could actually gain accuracy.

STOP FUSING SOUND SETS. You have to accumulate Meteos in order to unlock planets for fusing :)

If I were you I wouldn't fuse anything else until Meteo and Lastar appear on your Planet fusion menu. OK, maybe planets that are heavy in meteos you're low on. Hevendor is definitely worth unlocking

Why pretend to play things you haven't?

But they're so damn tempting! Alright, I will take your advice and stop fusing sound sets. I think I only have one or two left anyway.

Something must be wrong with me and my twin brother. He couldn't get to sleep cause he started to see it play in his head. The next day, I closed my eyes a few times to see myself making moves in a particular level. It is just like my older sister who dreamt of Tetris or my older brother who saw Mog doing one of FF6's intermission things.

I'm scared, but I must play on! Hevendor is kickass, and I loath Gravitas and Vubble.

I thought it was weird whenever I looked at something blocky I started to move around the blocks in my mind to get three in a row, but it seems to be the normal symptoms created by this kick ass game.

I too am susceptible to the Meteos hallucination / dream. When I stop a long play session, I'll start seeing phantom meteos here and there. It's especially palpable if I try to sleep right after, because I just see the game when I close my eyes.

Same damn thing happens when I play games like Tetris, Pokemon Puzzle Challenge, and Lumines too.

I've had a hard time sleeping some nights because whenever I close my eyes I keep seeing scenarios get run over and over in my head, on my eyelids.

I'll see specific situations where I need to get 3 off the ground then have a seconary ignition, then I'll ALMOST BE DEAD and get a vertical row off at the last moment. I'll realize my body is all tense, too.

I can't make it stop.

While i agree with the second screen being useless so far as I haven't played it yet, even I can see that you wouldn't get a quicker reaction nor gain accuracy. The DS touch screen is very accurate.
