Weapons that are 100% worth the grind

JokerMM

Gay porn is where it's at.
i just relized 90% of the time when a game tells you about this incredible ability/weapon and how its worth the grind, it's fucking NOT
MMOs are the biggest offender of this shit
so i'd like to know what weapons actually ended up worth your time

In Demon's Souls there is one shield that have a 100% damage mitigation against magic. But it needs high stats. When I grinded for it in 2009 it was worth it.

Not really "grinding" as such but getting Thunderfury in vanilla requires two 4% drops from the first raid, and the person getting the sword has to be there for them. You could technically raid Molten Core once per week for the entire server's lifespan and never get your drops, but Thunderfury is so good that guilds will keep running it.

Final Fantasy games generally make the ultimate weapons worth it, MMOs excluded of course. The exceptions being Final Fantasy IX's Excalibur II which basically said to speed run the game, and Lulu's ultimate weapon in Final Fantasy X which required you to dodge 200 bolts of lightning in a row. The remaster Final Fantasy X had a spot where you could cheese this which was an improvement.

Death's Poker in Elden Ring.
When properly levelled, it can be used on nearly every enemy in the game.
I'm not sure it's a grind, since it's a single enemy that you have to beat, but it can be challenging if you're just starting a new game.

Not a grind in terms of doing special tasks, but you get it just by leveling up normally.

ACR assault rifle at level 48 in 2009 MW2.

Worth the wait. Zero recoil, sniper range, fast shooting speed. Pair it up with Red Dot and Stopping Power and you were a sniper with AR characteristics.

Hardest grind of any game for me was getting the High Warlords Daggers in the old PVP system in World of Warcraft

And yeah for awhile was totally worth it, Rogues were Gods in PVP

I did the grind for that. Quest broke first time when I gave the required items to an NPC, GM came and saw from the log that something went wrong. Told me it was "tough shit" and there was nothing he could do about it.
This is villain origin story stuff right here.

Borderlands 2
The Bee shield + Conference Call.

Massive grind to get both but absolutely smashed everything and ruined the game once you had them.

Then Gearbox nerfed it because cheaters were duping it and giving it away in multiplayer games. Royally screwed everyone who put the time in.

Gjallerhorn from Destiny. It was THE weapon. If you didn't have it, good luck finding an LFG group for raids. I remember grinding out so many fresh characters a week to get the chance to get it from nightfalls and raids until it dropped for me.

Gae Bolg Nexus in FF14. Look at that majestic SHINE:

Why fight the enemy when you can simply blind them?

I put 1000 plus hours in D1 and it never dropped once for me. Finally got one 6 months before D2 launched. Thankfully I had a great clan that didn't care I didn't have one.

Black Knight Halberd. Dropped by non respawning Dark Knights and chances are higher with late end game Dark Knights.

Getting the Marvel Sword early in SO2 can take some time, especially if you're grinding for 40,000 for the gloves.

Earthbound: Sword of Kings

I remember I got this randomly on my 2nd playthrough I believe pretty early on too. There was no need for anything else afterwards.
Could you even get it on your first playthrough? Anyway I never bothered since I didn't see the need after getting

Alucard Shield+Shield Rod combo

which obliterates everything and heals you. (And you pretty much get it every time.)

Restarted many characters To get the BNH off the rip by making the prick fall off the ledge

The second Einlanzer in Chrono Cross that you can obtain for a certain character if you make certain decisions during the game. Completely changes the character who owns that weapon into a badass monster of a damage dealer.

That time in Destiny 2 when The Wish Ender was broken AF and the game actually felt like you were a 5+ years player at a high level with a bad ass weapon not everyone had.

Yes but not very early by my recollection. Although I do believe it's before the upside down castle. It's only dropped by one enemy that only spawns in a specific area.

Early so to speak in that you can get it before the fight with Richter.

off topic, but the way light bounces off many (but not all) armors in DS1 is unlike any other DS game.

DS1 just has this... sheen to armor that isnt in any of the other games.

Not a single one and I stand by that. If the game isn't fun or can't find a reason to have it naturally happen I'm not spending hours upon hours for it.
