Alright, here's the backstory. I recently bought a pair of klipsch promedia 2.1's. The sound card I have isn't so great, so I was going to upgrade.
My mom's computer crashed, and an audigy 2 zs was a fairly cheap upgrade in the comp she would be getting to replace it(a gateway). The idea was to switch her and my sound card's when it got here.
Haven't gotten to the ol' switcheroo yet, but i figured i'd test it out with the 2.1 speakers that she already had. So I did, and it didn't work.
The 2.0 speakers that came with the comp work fine, but I can't get the 2.1's to work.
My questions -
1.is it possible that gateway engineered the soundcard to only work with speakers they provide? This seems retarded to me, but I suppose it's possible.
2. I noticed in the configure setup screen, there is no option for 2.1. The closest thing is "desktop stereo". Does the audigy 2 zs not support 2.1? This would be absolutely retarded if it were the case. I have a really really hard time beleiving it is though.
Any help is appreciated.
