Why do I get the feeling that Darklighter is part of some long con set in motion by RetroMG years ago that he's only making good on now...
Fire; sorry for ignoring! But that tactic on me won't work in this game. Pressure won't get to me cause the Institute already took my son and I don't have anything to lose!
Hmm... Prolly, like, gryvan. He took like, a really long time to show up and then like, placed the world's safest vote. I mean, like, why would you vote that way when it's suuuuuuuper clear that that's totally not gonna happen?
You poke in and out so I'm going to go with a more direct question. Just off your interpretation of the thread right now, give me your two most suspicious individuals and which of the two would you vote for if I was holding you down and saying that the time is now?
*crickets*In an effort to get conversation flowing from another angle. What are peoples thoughts on Seath?
I'm not quite as sure as you, but:it's not based on their interactions, just two separate reads.
I'll add that in the circle of Ultra Jay, Boo Boo'n and Sorian, there is also a mafia.
Nah, we want to lynch someone D1 to turn the heat up and see voting patterns. When we later in the game (hopefully) lynch our first mafia it can be very helpful to see how other people interacted with them. Without any pressure we're basically throwing D1 away and giving mafia the first move for free.Well I'm new so I really don't have anything else against anyone atm. I don't want to read too into it either until like the 2nd day of the game (not real life 2nd day). And I guess since some of you have experience from previous seasons of mafia, its also the reason why you want to lynch people earlier due to events that happened previously (I went through most people's posts in this thread so I got a bit confused on some references that may or may have happened before).

Welcome!
You don't exist.
You are aligned with no one.
Your goal is to survive to the end with everybody believing that you exist, even though you don't. For every five posts that mention your name you will be able to post one post.
Because you don't exist you can't be killed at night, but if you're lynched people will stop believing you exist.
Have fun!

So I will start changing my vote
UNVOTE: Sorian
like so
and then I will do
VOTE: No Lynch
for now as a serious vote.
Of course you can read into what I posted until your eyes pop out
The claim of being an ordinary night vale citizen right after trigger was accused of being mafia by squidy? Or did I miss another claim? It's not really unprompted at that point
Just gonna say that I'm probably gonna remain fairly quiet for the rest of the first day unless something big happens. Gonna keep my vote on Scrafty, since, even with characters being part of her schtick, I do have a feeling that her going all-in on the dumb tourist character might be used to obfuscate her true intentions...
Well, I agree you shouldn't see my vote as a threat because as everyone is well aware, a single vote with no traction won't do anything. See it as an opportunity to provide some more thoughts and impressions on the game.
About Scrafty, she might well be flying under the radar. I fear for the town that's up against scum-Scrafty. Keeping her vote on Darklight would strike me as scummy if he doesn't show up and the vote stays there or if Scrafty actually attempted to get a bandwagon going, but as it stands some pressure on a newbie isn't that bad.
Sorian seems a bit too soft, but this is my first game with him. Reminds me a little of Czar in DR.
Honestly?
Unmasked Ferret - It's been stated before but s/he seems to be taking the ongoing stack of accusations towards him/her much too casually. Of course, it's perfectly fine to assume s/he may actually be innocent thus the passiveness could be justified. At the same time, there's very little to go with right now so i'm naturally loading that character in my chamber of options.
Sorian (dude that's you!) - I guess you've been admant on pressing against my (admittedly) in and out phasing into the conversation and, for some reason, not to the other posters with similar posting patterns (Trigger for example.). It's...intimidating! Then again, my update count in the thread is low here so I suppose your accusations are justified. Still,
don't bully!!!
Why do I get the feeling that Darklighter is part of some long con set in motion by RetroMG years ago that he's only making good on now...
God, I wish I were that clever.
Start now and impress us in 5 years!
I wouldn't read too much into what people are saying about past games. Some of us do know each other so we have some bias on personalities but everything you need should be on full display in this thread. If I removed No lynch from you as an option is there anyone at all that you find suspicious enough to remove from the game?
Ultra Jay - Too agreeable, doesn't want to stick out one way or the other
Eh, Coppa, I think you are mafia, I'm not going to place a vote on you though.
Do you think you should role claim now? Doubt it.
Okay. so I think I just want to play Fallout until I pass out so I'm going to talk about my reads now instead of later on, even though I haven't heard anything more from Trigger, sadly.
For both of these players what I noticed was a preoccupation with being noticed rather than contributing, I can't think of a single thing Trigger has done that I would call contributive, it's a lot of hemming and hawing and just making sure to remain visible as opposed to chiming in with contributions for town. Trigger pushed me over the edge with the post about roles where it seemed like Trigger wasn't really paying attention to the game because we had just covered that ground. Then there's that "I am town" post. I expect that sort of general response to being accused, especially early on when there's not a lot of content to discuss, it's just with this post the phrasing and the flatness of it rub me the wrong way, which isn't very scientific (sorry carlos) but it does not make me like Trigger more.
It's the same way with respect to an obsession with being visible for Razmos except Razmos makes the entire exercise explicit in his posts so I'm less sure how to read that. Last game we played together Razmos was scum and had a strong reaction to being pressured so I thought it would be a good idea to push him a little bit. His reaction is obviously very different but it's also really weird because in it he figuratively says "I am not being genuine, I am faking my reaction because I do not want to be lynched"
It's possible he's town and he's just being incredibly gun-shy because I find it kind of hard to believe that a mafia player would be so obvious about their intentions, but at the same time it's very weird, and very image-conscious play and it tends to be mafia who is worried about LOOKING town and town that is worried about hunting mafia IMO.
As for the other three, it all comes down to the bandwagoning and sequence of events but I might be reading too much into it.
I'm going to have to thank you Ty4on. For pointing this out you've convinced me to be slightly more aggressive (as above) and to stand by my convictions instead of being pulled around by everyone else.

Also, for clarification: Are you actually saying you think I'm mafia here? Or is that simply an example to argue a point?
I have a feeling it's the latter, but I want to make it perfectly clear.
Can someone explain to me exactly what "fluffy entails? Stuff like the cute coyotes that doesn't contribute to anything?
If Pop makes his case I might switch over to Trigger. Mike was up there but he responded and I'd like to hear more of gryvan's thoughts even though I know he's busy.

If that's the case then Scrafty was pretty big on the fluff as well until her last few posts. The fact that she is still on Darklighter even now doesn't sit right with me.
Though... I really just want to hear Darklighter speak. I also wish that fake "Doesn't exist" role really was a thing. That'd be pretty cool.
Oh hey someone recognized it yes! You should go over the pre-game posts, I pretty much just spammed Twilight Zone quotes in it (it fits WAY too well here).
Usually when someone tells me they are a member of town, I get a bit suspicious. I don't really care that you tell me that you're town because everyone will say they are a member of town, that's the game. Now it was in response to a post where someone called him mafia so I guess it's a fair reaction since both sides of the coin seemed to have no evidence but my real issue is that he said he is an ordinary member of night vale. Maybe I'm reading to much into it.

but I will change my vote to one in particular:
VOTE: Pop-O-Matic
Your initial vote was not RNG but on Scrafty "because fuck tourists" and now you are keeping it thinking that it is a disguise. Is it because as a townie it seems she is painting too big of a target on her back? That she is unfazed by it? I wanna hear more about this.
Scrafty gets a weird pass in this kind of stuff because she plays a different character for each game of mafia. She has to prove herself through actions as opposed to through words but if you pay attention she does actually say enough in her own words. There are some people like that. Have mercy if you ever play with Blarg.
Oh my. I went to work so I'm just catching back up with all the discussion.
You are. My post was simply a tongue in cheek joke. It wasn't a serious role claim. In all fairness, I should've been more sensitive to use of the word "ordinary", but I don't think my reaction was in any way extreme or suspicious. Someone flatly called me a member of the mafia, and I responded that I'm not.
There's no intentional strategy in this, just clumsy playing. I'm still finding the balance in being proactive and thoughtful. I rushed to post without reading some of the posts closely enough. The fact that the topic of roles had already been discussed was an oversight on my part.
As I said above, I wasn't being very thoughtful of my phrasing.
I'm just going to say that I wouldn't really call what happened to me accusations getting stacked. It was mostly just random votes and pressure votes, in fact there were no accusations which is probably why I came off as passive as there was not really anything to react to. There was the thing about not responding to Squidy, but I really don't know that it was something to worry much about and have since explained it, and the vote that was put on me at that time seems more like it was to get my attention than to actually be used against me.
I also wouldn't be too concerned with Sorian pressing you with questions, he does that. You may feel that he went after you specifically, and maybe he did, but he probably just saw you were around and thought he would prod a bit.
I'm glad you brought this up since it was sort of bothering me. And I would also like to hear back from Pop. I also kinda want to know how he thinks Scrafty would hide behind her persona. Is it a matter of how she mixes in the fluff with what she actually wants to say, or is it purely a matter of the fluff itself being so core to her play style?
Off topic: Blarg is great to read but it seems like a chore to actually have him in your game.
On topic: Scrafty really does a good job of balancing the fluff with in between the lines important thoughts, but I can see how some people maybe can't get over it since sometimes it can be sorta in your face (especially with the current character). This doesn't affect my current questions towards Pop.
I'm not going to comment on the Squidy v Trigger/Razmos thing now because I want to review their post and I see that while I typed all the rest of this Trigger replied.
Also I'm sure Royal_Flush has probably guessed but I'm going to leave my vote on him until I think it could actually be useful elsewhere.
I guess I'll give it a go with people I want to hear from, i.e. low posters that I have noticed that are sorta kinda under the radar and/or aren't receiving votes to prod them or at least get them into a discussion:
tl21xx: You've posted what - three times? - and are waiting for a response to a prod vote on Seath. But... what about you? What are your current thoughts about what is going down beyond Seath? He'll respond in due time. Until then, let's hear what you have to say.
Yeah, that comes pretty close to being the truth. It's 10am over here so my posting intervall will probably be a little bit out of whack, heh.Karu: Didn't know how to use highlights and used the wheel to vote for Scrafty. Probably sleeping/playing Fallout 4 and they hopefully come back tomorrow or later today. Really want them to join in on the discussion after simply doing just an RNG vote.
What in the hell?
Darklighter has been a member since 2013, with a nice Biggs X-Wing avatar... with ONE post! ONE!
In the recruitment thread. WIth a stated low activity level, of course.
Am I missing something here? Do posts get deleted somehow? Man... and I thought I was the junior...
I was looking for his other posts to have something to go on but... damn...
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/member.php?u=262341
That is his entire GAF history. That is all we have to go on to establish his personality. What can I gleam from this? He doesn't like to capitalize and he's up for anything. I'm just flabbergasted to see such low activity across ALL of GAF. He'll always be a junior at that rate. Probably only uses it for subscriptions and night mode.
I'm calling it. He's getting replaced. Let's not lynch him. Who's first on the waiting list?
Darklighter: BIGGS! WHERE ARE YOU!!!
If Darklighter hasn't shown up by noon tomorrow then I'll like, totally change my vote to something more productive. But in the meantime, I wanna like, see what he has to say and he's got like, no incentive to speak up without being pressured right now.
Why do I get the feeling that Darklighter is part of some long con set in motion by RetroMG years ago that he's only making good on now...
That's a very weird post... Give us some more.Sorry, I was busy attacking the death star.

You need to step up a bit, also I find it odd that you are worried about Scrafty here when her character act didn't seem to bother you in MGS.

I personally don't see the problem with making myself visible, especially since day 1 is a lot of poking inactive players and I don't want to be seen as one. It's the same way with respect to an obsession with being visible for Razmos except Razmos makes the entire exercise explicit in his posts so I'm less sure how to read that. At the end of the day, I do have to be real and say that it does sound like you care more about your appearances than catching scum. Can you give me a top two suspicious list right now?
I haven't posted as much for a couple of reasons. Mainly due to work on a major CG project, but also because when I was able to hop onto the thread, there was nothing to really dig into at the time. So it's just rather unfortunate timing.
I am mainly focusing on Seath because the RNG told me to. It's day 1 and I like to take full advantage of the fact that nothing is truly for sure. The more discussion we have, the better chance we have at getting the town pulled together. On the plus side, I should be far more available tomorrow to sound off on my own reads so far. But I need to hit the sack. Way too late to give a decent read. I'll be back on the saddle tomorrow.
Yeah, that comes pretty close to being the truth. It's 10am over here so my posting intervall will probably be a little bit out of whack, heh.
Well as to the Day One-ongoings... I know pretty much nobody or their posting behaviour in the past. Sorian seems to take over the conversation, but that's it. There's always a person like that (as I said, played a few rounds, years ago in another discussion board with more loose rules on communication), so I wouldn't put to much thoughts into that, right now. Was he more aggressive in the past? As I said, can't tell. This will hopefully change in the coming days in regards to getting a sense of most people here. =)
Sorry, I was busy attacking the death star.

I think a large number of people are trying to fly under the radar at the moment. I'd say AbsoluteBro has been pretty darn quiet since his last post, and I do think Darklighter has made a good point about how you've controlled the conversation. It's hard to tell if you're just trying to get people to participate and give town more to work with or if you're intentionally keeping the conversation off of yourself.

TBH, I didn't really know she was playing a character in MGS until other players pointed it out, and, even then, it didn't really seem all that noticeable or obstructive beyond having to run the occasional Spanish word/phrase through Google Translate. This one, though, is laid on a lot more thickly and therefore feels like if she knew how to play it she could really manipulate the town on how we view her and her opinions. As far as how she'd use it, I'm not entirely sure, but, if I was playing that way, I'd probably try to keep posting in the character's voice voice the majority of the time, but drop it when I really want to draw attention to something.
various people said:where the hell is AB?
I want to apologize. The last couple weeks have been pretty rough. Without getting into too much personal detail, in addition to all sorts of bad family shit, I was doing the work of two people at the office and three people on my farm. It pretty much peaked two nights ago when my hot water heater burst. I probably should have said something to Retro, but I thought I could handle it. I was a little wrong, but pretty much everything is as resolved as it's going to get. I'm good to go now and will be around more. Wednesday/Thursday will tend to be my most active days, but I'll be around other days a bit more sporadically (during working hours anyway).
So yeah. I'll try to get more into theme and post some thoughts in just a bit.
It's morning for you guys but the end of the day for me. I stirred some low posters to respond but some more from all of them could be nice. Basically, don't be shy... keep talking! I'm sitting all alone on Pop at the moment but I still wanna hear more about their thoughts. Will change my vote after I've read through the days posts when I wake up (evening for you guys), hopefully I'll have zeroed in on someone flaky enough to lynch tomorrow.
There's still a chance that one of the low activity people is purposely trying to lay low.
More than anything, though, I'm just really happy Darklighter posted. That's two whole posts on GAF now! Congratulations! Now imagine if those posts could actually be worthwhile. Come on, Biggs.
Dear Diary,
This town is like, sooooooo weird.
First thing in the morning we all got to spin this like, big round thingy to decide who we could put votes on. It told me to vote for like, this guy named Darklighter and I'd have to be like, totally bugging to disobey a big spinny thing so that's who I voted for!
Later I found that like, whoever gets the most votes doesn't win a prize but instead gets like, subjected to a horrible and untimely death filled with unimaginable agony. Soooooooo, not totally stoked for that. I decided to like, keep my vote where it was because if anyone dies I'd rather it be like, someone I've never met. Guilt is totally unfab, you know.
So like, anyway, then this weird guy named Pop-o-something voted for me and like, tried to get into my pants or something. Barf! He seems like, totally shady so I should probably keep an eye out for him.
Darklighter fiiiiiiiinally showed up and only like, raised more questions than he answered but I made a promise to this like, town leader guy that I'd change my vote if Lightie showed up and I'm totallly a woman of my word!
I like, wonder if they'll accept this page as a valid ballot. Teehee, that almost like, rhymed! I'm like, such a modern poet.
Love and peace,
Lucy "Scrafty" Diablos
