And in the first day of the main event, there's already one player I'd like to punch in the mouth! :D

Oh and congrats to Jennifer Tilly for winning the Ladies Hold Em Bracelet. I'd sure like to hold her ladies!

Yeah, I love the game, hopefully the popularity will level out soon, haha. I really don't care about NASCAR drivers playing poker.

Just read a little about this year's. 5760 people with first place of aobut 10 million bucks. Thats more than double last year's and 6 times as much as 2003. So much dead money.
I bet when they started the WSOP they never would have though there would be Day 1s.

Tilly's Titties needs to be on WSOP TV

I concur, but for some stupid reason, ESPN did not film this one at all:( Probably only get an interview, but she still looks hot even at almost 50:)

fucking ESPN needs to show this shit live. I will literally sit in front of my TV all day just to watch and miss work for a whole week just for this.

http://taopoker.blogspot.com/
heres the best site i found for updates on the game...anyone else got a better site?

I dont know why ESPN does not make this live.
it makes me mad.

Because watching every hand becomes boring.

That and it would take up roughly 80% of ESPN's programming every week (as oppsed to the 60% it currently is :).

Re: Hole cams + live play:
Live tournaments have been broadcast before. FSN's Turning Stone final table (the one with Ivey and D'agistino) was broadcast on a 5-minute tape delay. Although, I can see this being infeasible given that noone's really confined to their table just yet.

Also worth noting that current champion Greg Raymer is in good shape right now. He worked his way from a 3500 short stack back up to around 50k. That guy's got skills.

Trust me, live tournament play is mostly boredom, with a few moments a sheer terror thrown in.

What this Poker TV generation doesn't realize is that poker ISN'T a series of all-ins and big bluffs, it takes a lot more than just that. Poker on TV is essentially, like watching SportsCenter. Just a series of highlights.

On a related note, I played in one online satellite for the main event, and got busted close to the bubble. :(

The main event is getting less appealing, anyway. With fields this large, it takes a lot of short term luck to make it very deep into the tournament... if a big hand runs into a big hand, you're pretty much toast.

my girlfriends friend got in through a satellite on pokerstars (of the 5661 players attending 1116 won their buy-in through there btw) but hes only 19 so he couldnt go. Dunno if he sold his spot to someone else though

Boston Rob From Survivor Knocks Out 2

Log: Boston Rob raised preflop, and Perry Friedman moved all in for his last $2,000 in chips. Another opponent moved all in. Boston Rob called. The third opponent helf 10-10, Rob held A-J, and Friedman showed A-9. The flop came K-J-rag giving Rob a pair of jacks and the lead in the hand. The turn was a brick, and the river was a jack, making Rob trips, and sending two players home in time for dinner.

Guess he's there:P

ah, I see.

I went back and read your post to see if it mentioned it, and I guess since you didn't say Elmo out right i didn't get the connection to wanting to punch him (Elmo) in the face.

I still can't get over that they even allowed that, I thought poker was supposed to be a game about reading there other players faces as much as it was strategy and luck.

yea...watch for her cleavage shot on pokerstars...

hubba hubba....

I really wanna go to the Rio and watch this =/

:lol at Shannon Sharpe playing today

Also Mouth Matusow already has a 40 minute penalty for cussing out the dealer and then the Tournament Director. :D

What he said. Who the hell played this flop, river bullshit before it was on TV?

Hold'em has been the primary form of Poker played in casinos long before this aired on TV.

Just because you never heard of it doesn't mean people never played it.

Regardless, anyone play for real money on PokerStars? We need someone with enough FPPs (I think it's 2,000) to start a private tourney for GAF.

Everytime I watch Gus Hansen make one of his crazy raises and/or calls, the poker player in me says "How the fuck does he always win when he chooses to do something like this?"

Seriously, the guy has the best luck ever when it comes to winning with ridiculous hands. :lol

Well except for this year he does, hehe. he's got a very unique style that I like just for showing people that there's more than one way to play the game:)

Antonio, Ivey, and Laak are my favorite players to watch, though.

i would have had close to 600 fpp but i spent all them trying to get into the WSOP main event via satellite.

Worst fpp spent ever. Might as well have just bought a hat.

You dont need them in the account at the time- you just have had to have accumulated 2,000 total. Once you do that, e-mail support asking for the ability to create private tourneys.

Off to play some 2/4 at my bud's house, but I leave you with EVIL JACKASSERY AT THE WSOP

With two first days behind us, there isn't much news on the scene today. Different players are playing, and they have different bad beat stories to tell during the breaks, but the overall scene is a very familiar one at this point, at least until we get to Day Two.

However, there was a controversial "coffee incident" during the most recent break. Lisa Wheeler took the long, long walk down to Starbucks to wait in a long, long line to get a tall Mint Mocha Frappuchino (without chips) for her boyfriend, Tony Frederick, who is playing in today's field.

She returned to the tournament area during the break, and left the drink on his table, right in front of his chips. But when she returned a few minutes later to check on him, she was shocked by what she saw.

The player in the next seat over was sucking down that tall Mint Mocha Frappuchino (without chips) without a care in the world. Lisa challenged him, and he responded with, "I thought it was mine," even though he had nothing but chips (not chocolate chips, but poker chips) in his area.

Perhaps he believes that Harrah's has little Frappuchino Fairies delivering drinks to random players during the breaks. So if you find a tall Mint Mocha Frappuchino (without chips) anywhere near your seat, drink it at your own risk. Lisa Wheeler won't be as forgiving next time.

What a dick!

Day 5 starts today and continues till 27 players are left. Im rooting for Raymer - and I hope Mike the mouth gets kicked out soon. I hate the guy.

You gotta admit it'd be good TV if Mouth busts Raymer.

"I told ya I was going to bust ya"

Much as I dislike Mouth haha.

I'm rooting for Ivey.... and a WOMAN in the top 10? Never heard of her before.

In a perfect world she'd be a really really hot chick.

For terrific tv i hope matusow makes it to heads up against a no name player, they play a hand where no name player is slightly up in chips, matusow goes all in, and loses the hand to a miricle draw on 5th street and whines and moans like the punk bitch he is. Helmuth is a crybaby but man that matusow is just downright irritating.

That sucks but at least we'll be able to see Jennifer Tilly's win.

Only briefly, probably just a quick shot and an interview, for some STUPID reason ESPN didn't tape the Women's tourney. :lol
