I'm sitting here having a convo with my 7 year old, and she tells me my PS5 Pro is "cooler" than my PC. I asked her why, and she replied with "it just is." So yes, a very in-depth, deep conversation.

Had me thinking though- what is the "cooler" choice?

Personally, console is "cooler" in my books. Too many fond memories of new games on Christmas day (even today), playing with friends growing up, and old school gaming magazines I would pickup locally to read that included demo disks. PC still to me is a work appliance that plays games (yes, I work on a laptop everyday).

You know the answer:

Ps Console GIF by PlayStation

PC hands down. If your daughter saw some of these games running in Stereoscopic 3D on PC like Ori, Sonic Frontiers, Psychonauts 2, or Spyro Trilogy she would declare PC the winner immediately.

PC hooked up to a TV is 100% cooler than a console.

That said, I still like the fact that most modern consoles allow me to "sleep" the console in the middle of a game and pick up later without missing a beat. I can't really do that reliably in Windows 11, or at least I haven't been able to. Maybe there's a trick to it I'm missing.

This. I play my pc in my living room connected to my 65 inch QD-oled and play with a series S controller most of the time.

Blessed wholesome fatherhood experience. In five years he'll be asking for money to go see Bad Bunny.

As a primary PC gamer...I give my vote to console.

I might be jaded but PC's are just...PC's while consoles always interest me with form factor, controllers, accessories, etc.

However..You can't play "Cool"

I never really tested it further, but I accidentally had my pc (w10) hibernate while playing one of the modern tomb raiders; turned back on just fine with the game running still.
Yeah, it seems to work with some games, but not all games.

For that reason, I always play games that don't allow you to save anywhere/anytime on console.

PC has always been for the "uncool" nerds and consoles are for cool normies. Handhelds have traditionally been for the weebs but now are popular with PC nerd dads.

PC and it's not even close starting from the PS3/Xbox 360 era.

Only time console was cooler was during the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era and earlier and even back then PC was still solid enough to not be too far behind.

None/both. They're just boxes with electronics in them.

- A console is a box for games
- PC is a box for games - and anything

...who am I kidding, PC is the coolest of course

In a general sense, PC has always been "cooler" to me. I loved my consoles to death and still do but the PC was like a key to a whole new wide open world of infinite possibilities between tinkering with the os, software, the internet. It was all there.

for a 7 years old, the PC is probably 2/3 her whole size. how on earth she is going to think this is a cool gaming PC when all she sees a building in her eyes?

There is nothing cool about PC, it has no identity

If that's how you see then ok, I guess. I have a PC, PS5 Pro and Switch 2 on my desk and none of them have an identity to me. I have more pride in the one I built, that much is certain, but that doesn't give it an identity.

Not this again.

Hard to pick one, a ps5 look like a huge modem, series x look like a sub-woofer and i'm not a fan of neon led pc cases that look like they belong in a fast and furios movie.

Tbf,i could not care less about the look of my hardware.

PC is infinitely cooler than a console. You can literally do whatever you want. Choose the perfect case and lighting that you want. Spec the system how you want.

If you want to go all out, you could do a complete custom watercooled / themed system.

I suppose you could pimp a console but it would never be to the level of a PC.

Consoles and it isn't even close. Not saying consoles are better. Just saying from a pr perspective, it's a lot more socially acceptable to say you enjoy Playstation or Nintendo than PC.

There must be many people who just reads here and do not reply, because holy hell I wouldn't have imagined that PC had more votes.

I expected that the console would have been rationed way above PC

Consoles without a doubt. As a PC player myself, the table and chair involvement with multiple screen looks like a mini open man cave, and girls don't like it either.

Console you got a giant TV and a couch with a handy controller. So relaxing, cool and people can sit beside you and enjoy what you're doing also. Can't do that with a gaming chair.
