Y’all complaining about the visuals, you must have lived in mansions with huge tvs in every room. I played my N64 on my 13” Zenith and it looked amazing!

Holy crap, I found the tv I used to play all my ps1, n64 and Dreamcast games on.

Alot of memories all at once.
While it wasnt my favorite console at the time. It probably holds the best memories of the era for me due to multiplayer. Nostalgia hits me harder with the N64 than any other console and i cant talk about this console without mentioning the below.

Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
WCW Revenge / No Mercy / Wrestlemania 2000
Star Fox
Mario Kart
Ocarina of Time and basically only wanting to fish. lol
Star Wars EP 1 Pod Racer
Rogue Squadron

Guess if i had to pick one it would be Goldeneye. Runner up - No Mercy

Super Mario 64. It was one of the three games I had for it before I sold it. The other two were Turok and F-Zero X.

I can't think of just one but all these:

Goldeneye multiplayer (aka "Bond" - that's what we called it)
Perfect Dark multiplayer
Star Wars Shadows of the Empire
Star Wars Rogue Squadron
Zelda Ocarina of Time
Turok
Star Fox
Mario 64

Superman 64... Really don't know why, but that popped into my head. I never played it, I just remember vaguely some review from years ago talking about how shit it was.

If you asked 2nd 3rd it would be Ocarina of time and Mario 64, other than those two games i really didn't play n64. I was PS1 then -> PC (PentiumII w/mmx Voodoo 3 at the time)

Seriously though I heard this was really horrible one of the wort game ever:

Turok Dinosaur Hunter, played it in store and walked home with one. Probably my favourite experience on it was DOOM. I really liked the N64 for a while.

SM64. What a staggeringly brilliant game.

N64 was a pos btw. And dreamcast, too.

Peace out.

I'm not a fan of n64 either, but it made a lot of strides when it comes to 3D Gaming. But I do consider Playstation to be the better console

As for Dreamcast, that system has the best Sega first party games released on it. Too bad that was Sega final console and they ended up going third party

As far as I'm concerned, Miyamoto wrote the bible four times and two of them were on N64. So no matter what I think of the console itself, I consider it essential.

Dreamcast can burn for that controller alone!!

I hated the n64 controller too

But yeah Dreamcast controller was horrible

Even though not a fan of n64, it revolutionized 3D Gaming with Super Mario 64, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time and Golden Eye (Populized FPS for Consoles)

Also joystick, yes it's been used before but n64 populorized that being used in controllers moving forward. Original PS1 Controller didn't have any joysticks. I think Sony improved on it with the first revision to the controller being the Dual Shock and having two joysticks, one for the camera and one for movement of the character

I forget how much of the analog stick idea was from miyamoto himself. If i ever knew, that is. Those old interviews are fading from my memory. That blew me away. I liked the N64 controller well enough. But when the pre-dualshock "dual analog controller" came out, i was like "Oh. The controller can have a normal shape and it works just fine." Which made the n64 on look kinda dumb.

Yeah even Nintendo ended up using the dual Joystick placements with the GameCube Controller

The Wavebird is still my favorite gaming controller of all time

This thread has reminded me how many amazing games the 64 had over its lifespan.

Smash Bros was incredible back in the day.

What is to love about that thing? It has weird shaped face button, it's missing a bumper button, oh and movement sticks have weird octogon shaped ports like its saying it only works 8 way directional instead of analog.

I used it for the first time this year when I got one for our wii to play windwaker for the first time.

As for the dual shock, it was a phenomenal controller, but going back it's crazy how many games did not use both sticks. Most only used the left stick and it was like they didn't realize that camera control could be done using the right stick. I don't think dual stick controls was normalized until late ps2 gen.

To each their own

GameCube Controller still feels great in my hands and I love the placement of both joysticks.
