What’s the worst thing former classmates of yours have been arrested for?

Just found out today that someone I went to middle school and high school with was arrested on 25 counts of Child Porn. He was always a weird guy (watched lots of anime so I guess this wasn’t unexpected.)

We had a guy I rode the bus with get life for a murder so that’s probably the worst.

Same as you OP. Found out a few months ago from my brother that "Chris" just got life for murder.

For a while I went to a private school that took in all the dropouts from the public schools around the area for a no nonsense last chance. Christian school, hard as nails rules and corporal punishment. You had to want it to succeed. But it turned a lot of kids around. "Chris" was not one of them.

I remember having confrontations with him and trying to keep some of the other kids away from getting caught up in his gang mentality. Not having parents to set you straight is a HUGE factor in why he ended up the way he did IMO. I vividly remember thinking about why his parents would let him do some of the things he did. And then I met her... He only had one and she acted like he could do no wrong. She didn't affirm any of the lessons that the school was trying to teach him. Just expected to let the teachers do all the work for her. Sad situation.

I was only there because it was cheap and something I could afford btw. seeing as I was working on the side to help pay the way for my brother and I. I wasn't a public school dropout. Just wanted to give my brother and I the best chances of turning around our stars.

There was this small skinny kid in my junior high that I didn't know well but knew about - he was just kind of known as a guy you don't fuck with and he was one of the "cool" kids albeit one of the more troublemaker ones who didn't show up to school much. Anyway, shortly after graduating HS my friend called me to tell me how he murdered two kids from my graduating class for selling him shitty weed. I knew one of the kids he killed too, he just shot them both point blank for giving him weed he didn't like.

THEN he escaped from prison and that was a story a few years back as well. He was eventually caught.

Choked his wife, shot her, and then burned the house down as she was still alive and tried to crawl for help. They had kids too, but they were not home fortunately.

Kid got stabbed in the neck at the school I went to over a girl.
He died on the spot so he got life. It was a rough school.

a lot of my mates died in iraq, killed themselves when they got home, were murdered, overdosed, or taken by random decays of nature

you always wonder if you could have done more, i thought it was avoidable but it ain't

Goddamn man that’s awful! I’m so sorry to hear that :/

Double or triple 1st degree homicide. Dude is on death row. He was a punk in elementary school, and clearly is a punk now.

Do you live in Arkansas?

My former school friend got arrested for attempted murder close to a decade ago.
I hadnt spoken to him for about a decade already and he had some kind of socialite/semi famous status here in Australia. IIRC, he was dating a younger girl, who broke up with him. She went to his apartment to collect some of her stuff, he stabbed her a bunch of times (and maybe himself too?).
In my school days, I remember this guy was quite likable, intelligent and mature for his age. In short, I remember him as being better than me and most of the people I knew, so it was a real surprise to see him commit that kind of crime.

No murderer's, but one guy was put away for glassing a policeman, another for fraud of his own families business, having been put in charge by his father, only to steal over a hundred thousand pounds from it.

Do not give up hope Tess. Some things are avoidable just as some things aren't. But we aren't omniscient my friend. We can't know what is and isn't, so, if we have love and passion, we strive. We do what we can when we can. But the product of what we do is only as good as how well we know how to do it. But there are just some thing's you aren't going to be able to do perfectly and at the perfect time that it might need to be done to get a positive result. And that's ok. It isn't our job to take on the worlds burdens.

While your heart breaks wondering if you could have done more for your mates, you are only seeing the times that it really may have been unavoidable. But I'm telling you, you have def made a positive difference in other peoples lives. You just don't know how. Your attitude of overcoming may have been the reason someone put the gun down and decided to let go of the pain and seek help instead. Even the stories you tell of your mates may make some kids think twice before entering the service, not even having experienced life on their own yet. You've for sure touched my life and influenced some of the things I do. Else, I wouldn't be typing this right now. That's the best thing we can do. Take the mistakes and lessons we have learned from the past and turn them into tools instead of store them in our hearts as pain. Tools that we can use to build a better future by being a good example for others to follow.

Oddly enough I don’t know anyone from school or uni that has done anything of note. Not even 7 steps of Kevin Bacon.

Two friends of mine stole the Cromwell Road sign (the Fred and Rosemary West serial killers) which made the news, but that’s about it.

Ironically I was bought up in a tiny village where some locals tried to carry out the biggest heist in UK history.

Not an arrest, but my best friend from elementary school and junior high was shot and killed by a police officer during a street brawl. We had lost contact at that point, but it was still difficult to process. It would have been nice if he was arrested instead.

Other than that, some piece of shit I went to junior high with ended up stealing a car and running over someone, dragging them for a few blocks, ultimately killing them.

I hung out with a small group of computer nerds in the early 2000's. One of the guys (Jesiah) was always claiming schizophrenic things and had extreme paranoia. He once claimed to be psychic and one time created a "virus potion" for a girl who rejected him. This guy used to show up at my house without warning at like 10PM (which is a late your for guests when you're a Freshman in H.S.) and claim the government was writing him using MS-Word. He had a problem with stealing and once stole 7-CDs out of a duffle bag I carried to classes. When I caught him with the CDs , his step-mother informed me that his problem was far beyond that. He tried stealing a truck in the Summer of 2006 and crashed it into a tree at a nearby golf course. We had already fallen out-of-contact by that point and I was just starting college. I remember my sister waking me up and saying, "Jesiah's in the news...you won't believe what happened." I still can't believe he did all this. Not quite as dark as the OP's; but, still pretty far out for a small town teenager.

You can read about it from this newspaper clipping from 2007.

Bottom line: He spent like 7-years in prison and returned to society fairly normal. I think he finished college and has stayed out of trouble. I don't live in the States anymore, so, I can't comment much more on how he is accurately. I honestly think he's a better guy now and I'm not going to judge him for this stuff he did over a decade ago. Just thought I'd relate this story to the thread.

A guy in my grade was evidently stealing cars and, after a chase from police, shot a cop twice and ran. He was 18 at the time.

The cop survived. The guy got 26 years for a litany of charges, the main ones being aggravated attempted murder and several grand theft auto charges. His defense claimed he was on drugs at the time.

I only learned this after the fact because the local news orgs had articles talking about it.

I didn’t know the guy super well, but we did talk occasionally. I remember in middle school we sat at the same table and everyone at the table would roast each other all the time. It was fun.

Very similar to the guy I knew, except the cops fired at him and he was not involved with any drugs that I'm aware of.
