I was hoping for something similar to the Logitech PSP and DS cases but this is the closest I could find.

People who don't even game compliment me on this case.

EDIT: Before that, I too used the Club Nintendo bag. Definitely gentle on the finish.

I actually just bought this in Tokyo last week.

It's super nice looking, and to echo your comment about it appealing to all people, my girlfriend was drooling over it when she first saw it.

I would love to have a awesome 'candy coated' looking shell around my 3DS XL but alas I have a mugen battery in place which makes the console a non-standard size.

I've got a few scuffs. before I got the mugen I had some really stupid tin shell of brushed metal gray, it looked like crud and felt like it too trying to hold the system. You can only find decent system protection options well after the release.

If anyone actually knows of a mugen supported 'shell' system protector PM me immediately please please pls pls plzzzz.

I would bang a hot farmer!
This picture is what made me decide to get the 3DS Zelda bundle. Stunning
I held off forever on upgrading to an XL but I fell in love with the Zelda XL. At first I wasn't sure because the inside is also gold but I'm used to it now. I also love that the bottom has a mirror image Triforce in black.

i cant find pics of the back. the dealbreaker for me is how it attaches to my belt. no clips please and hopefully a loop i can slip my belt through.

My Zelda 3DS XL still sits in the box as I await the arrival of my case and my screen protectors. I wish I had seen this thread before I ordered anything last week though, this thread is DOPE!

Also, for those looking to protect their beautiful XL exteriors, you might be interested in the full-body Invisible Shield from Zagg. Though their meat and potatoes are screen protection, I ironically would recommend you forgo the actual screen covers and use it mainly for the body coverage. This thing DOES NOT SCRATCH, and if you ever feel the desire to remove the shield it leaves zero residue behind. Also, the shield has a lifetime guarantee and you can always order a replacement for free (for, say, when the next limited edition XL comes out).

The kicker, however, is that a) it is a bit pricey, and b) when they ship the shield to you, you have to put it on yourself. So, unless you live by a mall that has an Invisible Shield stall where you can have them apply it for you, this option may just be too big a hassle. However, if you have the means to do it and your 3DS XL is that worth it to you, it pays off incredibly and is well worth it! Plus, on November 29th (Black Friday), everything on their site is half-off (if I remember correctly), which takes the sting out a bit. Worth a shot, I'll see if I can get some pictures for you!

I second this, but I advise that people go instead with BSE (BestSkinsEver) or Skinomi. Both will have sales in a couple days and usually the skins will be 20%-50% off of the normal price which is already lower than Invisible Shield. Add to that BSE and Skinomi quality is far better than what you get with Invisible Shield. I am a long time user of all 3 brands. The Invisible Shield has much more of a orange peel effect and will yellow after years of use, while the other two will not.

I can post pictures of my Vita, DS Lite, and PSP when I get home if anyone wants to see how they look when applied correctly.

I have been using this type of skins for almost 4 years now and I have grown to dislike them.

They work as advertised, yes, my devices stay pristine but there is a high price to them...

They will sooner than later start lifting from the corners, always, in every of my devices, once a corner starts lifting, it will start getting full of dust/link/garbage on the sticky side. Eventually all the corners of your device will look like that.

And no, its not because I dont apply it properly, it just happens naturally as you start jamming your devices in your pockets. If you just ignore the corners and keep the skin long enough they will start turning yellow instead of clear, happened with both Zagg and BestSkinEver

Now I actually roll with cases and Glass covers for the screens, actual glass covers with up to 9H of thickness.

Totally agree with this as well. If you are put the device in your pocket without a case or bag of any type, do not use these full body skins, they will pick up lint and peel off real quick. This is really only good for people who keep their handhelds in cases when they go out.

I'll subscribe to this thread, since I just got my gold 3DS XL last night. Definitely not looking to pay $40 for a pricey case but I'm looking for case that feels comfortable enough to carry in my pocket without it being too bulky. I have the $10 basic case in my Amazon cart but there's a lot of good cases here that are in the $10-$20 range. I'm currently using the cover that it came it.

Trusty GBA case still works wonders.

I shove my DS Lite in the front (access to GBA games) and then the 3DS XL fits perfectly in the back zipper. If you don't want to put another console in the front pouch you can always just put 3DS games in there instead.

Although I think it's too tight, I use the Power A one:

QJgtIeC.jpg

I like it because it can hold a large stylus and 3 games.

I also have the Hori hard case, and the 3DS XL slides around inside. The one I have looks like it was made for the DSi XL, but rebadged for the 3DS XL. Don't know if they've fixed this.

I also have the blue Club Nintendo pouch, but I don't use it for travel... I keep my Mario DSi XL in there for safe keeping.

I use this one too. I wanted the pimp black one you have, but only found the tan version. My 3DSXL fits snugly in it with my DSiXL's stylus pen and it holds three games.

And I found it hiding behind the accessories no one looks at in the GB section of Gamestop for $3.99, so you know ...

I use the pouch I got free with my PSVita.

I never take the vita out anywhere, and the xl fits, so why not.

edit: Wow, those laser etched 3DSXL cases are amazing. Shame they don't seem to ship to the UK :( I would jump right on that Phoenix Wright Design.

Throw me down with the club Nintendo pouch, although I went blue.

I buy one every time I get a new handheld (use them for my Sony device as well, haha).

Breaks my heart that they aren't in the store right now. If they come back I'll need to buy a few spares.

I have used Invisible Skins and BestSkinEver and had the same issues. The wet application always freaks me out, and even where they don't peel up you get a sort of gummy residue along all the edges eventually. Peeling them off is really satisfying though.
where do you get these glass screen covers? I'm assuming you don't have one on the touch screen though?

Also, I have updated the OP.
