I'll be honest, I just wanted an excuse to post this:




... so anyway, is there any YouTube gaming-related content you enjoy? It could be anything, from dumb stuff like the one I just posted, to 15 minutes reviews of old/weird games or 2 hours thesis videos about the lore of whatever game.

ps: I could swear there is already a thread about this topic but couldn't find it.

I used to watch lots of playthroughs of games I missed or could not get into. The ones that stuck with me were EpicNameBros Bloodborne run (he explains a lot of the lore along the way)



and Baldur's Gate 3 from Wolfhard for the very same reason:

I check out some YouTube content creators that I guess are gaming focused, but not actual streamers. The only streamer I keep up with regularly is Aris/AvoidingThePuddle on Twitch.

One odd one is AnyAustin who covers generally "mundane" things in games like river systems.

I probably should have been more clear in that the two youtubers I linked to earlier do more than just stream. They have regular uploads as well. Nova also uploads original music or music inspired by video games in addition to his gaming streams.

Sometimes I watch streamers for more high level gameplay that I know I don't have the time to achieve, like Maximilian and Justin Wong for fighting games.

Same with Seagull back during the peak Overwatch days, but I haven't kept up with him since then.

Watching their gameplay feels as fun as watching a Speedrun or tool-assisted gameplay.

Could never do streamers, I have 0 desire to look at them constantly plastered over the game or poor screen space management with several chat platforms. I can deal with LP's as long as they don't do the same thing, but even those tend to plaster oversized watermarks and PiP/avatar profiles smh.

I don't like streaming. Last thing I want to do is watch some of the most uninteresting people play video games when I could just play the game myself. I sometimes will watch YouTube but I'm not a super big fan either. The ones I do like I think are great in presentation and creative thinking. Videos that help me after playing a game or a concept/idea I'm thinking about in a game as supplement to discussion is nice and can help further understanding of a game from another players perspective. Usually I want to play games, read interviews, and development stories about games. Coming to your own conclusions are the best. Don't let anyone tell you how you should feel about a game you played. Your expereince matters. For youtube though here are some I would recommend. Anyaustin, Nakeyjakey, Videogame Dunkey, Crimes New Roman, Super Bunnyhop, Lute01, Running Shine, Good Blood, Nerrel, and Kyle Bosman. And also you can watch some of their stuff on Patron because youtube as a platform and website sucks. Its an awful website that sucks with a few gems.
