I got a new computer when my laptop died so I've been going through old CDs and ripping them to slowly rebuild my music library... I found a ton of stuff I used to love in high school when I was angsty and angry and I've been re listening to it =p

I forgot how great NOFX is. Fuck blink 182

Mustard Plug - Evildoers Beware

I'm so obsessed with this record right now. I love that "chug-a-lug-a chug-a-lug-a" driving beat he does differently in the first few songs.

Jay Reatard - Blood Visions

Have you listened to his album Watch Me Fall? I love both of them equally.

Thanks to Steamlord, I've been listening to Stereolab! I went to my local record store to pick up Emperor Tomato Ketchup, but it was unfortunately sold out. I got lucky though, and the guy I asked for help told me that Stereolab is one of his favorite bands ever, so he recommended this to me. It's a collection of Studio 1 sessions they did for BBC over the years. It's a nice collection with a little bit of everything. I've also been listening to Emperor Tomato Ketchup on Spotify, but having to hear an ad every other song really pulls you out of the experience. I guess I'll need to order it from Amazon. Thanks Steamlord!
No problem! Glad you like it.

Transient Random-Noise Bursts with Announcements is my favorite Stereolab record.
Yeah, that's probably my favorite after ETK.

Holy shit.

Interesting stuff. I'm really of two minds about DJ Shadow after the outsider, mostly becase I thought most of the outsider was terrible (except for backstage girl, that song is fierce!) but TLYK,TB is a real return to form. Feels a lot like Endtroducing.

In This Moment - Blood
Category: Heavy Metal
Example: Blood & Scarlet

This is their 4th album and they sound completely different from what came before. The sound is considerably heavier than it's ever being. Maria's lyrics are incredibly personal in addition to the sound of this album. Yay to artists successfully evolving over their careers.

A third listen begins now.

Liquid Stranger - Cryogenic Encounters

This album is brilliant, it blends many genres from Ambient, Dub Step, Electronica & more to create a unique sound.

Ghost Brigade - Until Fear No Longer Defines Us
Metal Band from Finland, more on the melodic side but also has heavy passages as well.
Great album!

Bloc Party - Four

Preordered the CD, Looking forward to hearing this when it arrives.
Silent Alarm is one of my favourite albums.
I've heard the track ''Octopus'' and i liked it.

As of the past week, I have been listening to an unhealthy amount of hick hop. Yes, Hick Hop. It is what it sounds like, white trash rapping about being white trash focusing mostly on mudder trucks, moonshine, and an other things generally associated with being a hick. And amazingly, some of it is pretty decent. It'll never be featured on VH1 or MTV, but nothing good is these days so whatever.

And another awesome album recommendation from GAF. This is great! That artwork is pretty cool also.

Also, if this is considered dubstep, then I think my definition of it is somewhat outdated. I really hate the dubstep I've heard, but I'm mostly thinking about the shit you hear in game trailers lately. Or something like Skrillex.

Been browsing some new releases...

Ice Choir - S/T

Two Rings

It's pretty non-descript. I'm not sure I'm on the 80's electro-pop revival bandwagon. I definitely think there's some awesome music from the 80's but this album doesn't really do anything for me at all. If you love spinning 80's #1 hits compilations give this a listen because it might click with you.

Beachwood Sparks - Tarnished Gold

Forget the Song

It looks like this is their first album in 10 years? I am definitely more into the 60s 70s revival but, again, I found myself blowing through this album and it being just completely forgettable. I will say that I really love the song I've linked too. I just wish the rest of the album matched it.

Manceau - Life Traffic Jam

Full Time Job

A little, self-described "French Pop" band from, you guessed it, France. I heard this song while waiting to get my hair cut and soundhounded it because I thought it was a Phoenix b-side I'd never heard. Now you might get the French Pop reference. Pretty shameless rip-off of Phoenix. The single is fun enough but the album doesn't capture any of the magic you might've hoped would keep you satiated while still waiting forever for Pheonix's next album.

Passion Pit - Gossamer

Mirrored Sea

This one delivers, though. On first listen, I described it as heavy-handed and a bit toned down. But now I would describe it as insightful, thoughtful, and more focused. It's an absolutely stunning record and will have no problem staying in my top five albums of 2012. Highly highly recommended.

Just did and noticed your Yellow House thread, had a minor fuck yeah moment then proceeded to read an entire thread of people shitting on it.

What the fuck, talk about bad opinions.

I don't remember the Veckatimest thread being that volatile, in fact, that album got pretty felated around GAF. Yellow House is still their best, though Shields is sounding incredible up to now.

I checked as well and forgot it was a Microcastle+ thread I made. You're right though, that hyperbolic Yellow Thread got thrashed.

I still prefer Yellow House too - maybe it's nostalgia but it's more memorable. Veck kind of runs together for me outside the single(s)?

I've been on blackout for Shields. I tend not to listen to tracks anymore beforehand - seems to run me down the Caribou path (best song first and then... the rest).

I just re-dabbed into the Fluorescent Grey EP of which I went batty for on neogaf when it came about. I then popped on Cryptograms and I'm still bitter about its Top 100 00's placement on just about every website. There's just not many records that have that... Personality?
