What are your go to games for stress relief?

I don't really have any "stress relief" games. But if I am feeling a little down with nothing else going on, maybe I would log into Ultima Online. Specifically, UOSA or Ultima Online Second Age - a private shard that emulates UO from the late 90s, so it really brings me back to see things exactly as they were, walk around Moonglow or wherever. Britannia is truly like a second home to me.

I think Elder Scrolls could be a second runner up. Just walking around Balmora, Cheydinhall in the rain, or Whiterun can make me feel pretty solid in that kind of scenario, I suppose. Especially accompanied by Jeremy's music.

If I need to chill I enjoy Journey or Flower. I also enjoy platformers with cool soundtracks when I'm stressed out. Games like Sound Shapes or a good old Mario game.

Diablo IV and No Man's Sky mostly these days. I play other games in between but usually go back to those two each major patch or season for some couch and chill sessions.

Most games relieve my stress, so whatever I've been playing lately. But there are some comfort games I return to when I don't have as much mental energy:

- Ocarina of Time
- Legend of Dragoon
- Monster Hunter World
- Paper Mario/TTYD
- Halo
- RE4 (and now RE4R)

Something that lets me press buttons. I don't need to hammer them. Just lots of inputs. A fighting game single player with a character I don't know. Or a space shooter. Beatemup. That kind of thing.

Preferably on a controller with floaty buttons like a genesis or arcade stick. *clack clack clack clack*.

I go down these rabbit holes every few years. end up rolling a character at some random shard and playing for several months non stop. good times.

nothing has compared to peak UO for me, it was such a magical time. I'm talking +20 years ago.

Yep, I stopped playing in the year 2000 when Trammel came. Nothing does compare, I 100% agree with you. I've also been on a never ending free shard run since the mid 2000s, much like you describe. Though in the end I call UOSA home because it's so persistent, my account is 15 years old and that's better than we get from some retail products. And t2a is my era.

I'll pick a game with good music like Persona 5 or Skyrim since I find that relaxing. Plus, in a game like Skyrim for example, I'll make a goal unrelated to the main quest - like obtaining all the homes and decorating them.

I don't have many games where I can really relax, usually if I play something I concentrate on it a lot, so I have an extremely small list of games where I can really turn off my brain and just relax from everything.

Stardew Valley
Tiny Glade
And recently Infinity Nikki was added - I just play to take a break from everything...

I take my hat off to those who can relax using Balatro, personally, after an hour of playing this game causes me fits of uncontrollable aggression :messenger_tears_of_joy:

RDR2.

Just get on your horse and make your way through that beautiful countryside.

Make camp, hunt a bit, brew some coffee. Take shelter from a storm. Maybe enter a town and take a bath, get a haircut, drink a few beers. Buy some ammo and back into the wilderness you go.

It’s amazing.
