I realized there are a lot of things I used to care about that just don't matter anymore. Graphics chasing, trailers for games I actually want to play, collector's editions, etc

Anyone have similar things they just don't care about anymore?

I'll say graphics is far less important now since I'm already happy with the graphics for most games. Never cared much for any collector's edition. Watching countless previews of a upcoming game. I used to watch so many Skyrim related videos and interviews before the game got released. Same for Fallout 4 but haven't done anywhere as much for any of the games that was released after. I guess until they start showing Elder Scrolls VI previews.

• Closely following the state of games yet-to-be-released (i.e., watching/reading lots of previews).
• Reading reviews, particularly by access journalists.

Reviews, awards, if women are ugly or sexy in them, pronouns and if writing is good or not (because I feel a lot of gamers misunderstand what good GAME writing is). The rest still interests me, including graphics and art direction. But it’s always about the worldbuiling and gameplay that matters the most.

Yeah the awards most previews and reviews from main stream sites, i take trailers with a pinch of salt now, i judge a game when it's out by youtuber's i trust from seeing their content and watching gameplay.

Yea,graphics for sure,the constant need for games to keep looking better as a selling point,I'm over it.Better and more interestingly designed games is what interests me and the reason I'm not currently gaming and may well be done with it for good....certainly if the current insanity of many game devs keeps up.....I'm not giving these freaks my money,are you fucking kidding me,lol.

The esports bullshit….I just can’t bother anymore. I’m not sure I ever could….

Buying and playing indies…. There was a time I would play every indie game that came out… The last couple of dozen that I have played, I have played about 10 minutes each, and quit. I think I’m done, with the obvious exceptions of games like Wukong, Inscryption, Obra Djinn, Hollow Knight, Hades, Outer Wilds, Stardew, Dave the Diver, Dredge, TMNT, Balatro, and a few others, which are goated.

Fighting games, I want to love them, but without couch co-op they suck very badly. The only exception in the last few years has been sparking zero, which is probably my favorite “fighting game.”

Games more than two years old in my backlog. I’m mourn them.

Previews just do nothing for me anymore, I still get excited by trailers and speculation but I don’t spend much time on actual previews before release.

I'm tired of people arguing about DLSS, PSSR, or whatever ridiculous name of anti aliasing they come up. I'm not playing games 1 feet in front of my TV and counting pixels.

I never bother to watch gaming awards as its nothing more than a marketing push to sell more Mountain Dews and Doritos.

I avoid Day 1 releases as its often a broken mess and stick to buying "Director's Cut" or 1 year later edition with all the extra content.

I don't visit gaming sites anymore for gaming news as Youtubers often provide better coverage.

Esport games can go to hell.

Hud etc, used to be bothered with things like enemies hp bars or quest marks you can't disable, i still prefer minimal hud and will disable most of it, but i'm not as bothered.

Graphics is mind numbing and useless. We are well beyond serviceable and just inching towards photo realism which I have little interest in. More focus need to be on more interesting gameplay mechanics not the most real looking blade of grass.
