Uh... yeah. They disappoint the expectations of most of their fanbase, bore and irritate the press corps, and make themselves look silly the day of their major press conference... so they can stage a miraculous comeback?
How many times do you guys want to be disappointed this E3?
well, everything aries has said has come true, so far. EVERYTHING.
And frankly, I wouldn't be considering that Ninty was going to show Rev later during E3, not at their press conference, if it weren't for two things:
#1: the aforementioned (in my previous post) video of Kapplin on Nintendo.com. It was the first clip shown; the reggie one where he said "Don't make me do it! I'll take your name!" was the third clip. just THIS morning, that video was on the site. I don't remember it being up before around 9:00 yesterday, but that video had been there ever since Nintendo put the counter on the website, and she specifically says this: "we're ready for the launch on tuesday, the website on wednesday, we have some presentation on thursday and on friday..." and then the camera fades out.
Furthermore, there is no logical reason for Nintendo to show the Revolution hardware and not provide any specs, information on what is so revolutionary about it, or even one shard of video footage. They would be better off not showing revolution at all rather than displaying a physical prototype with no footage of games.
This suggests that they're going to roll out the revolution information over the course of E3, rather than at the press conference. And I suppose it makes sense, from a business perspective: If Nintendo focuses on the revolution during the press conference, they completely nullify any attention towards the GC and the DS.
Plus, Nintendo is the type of company who'd like to give people information when they don't expect it, rather than at an anticipated press conference. I wouldn't put it past them to try an unorthodox unveiling during E3, when people have lowered their expectations from the disappointing press conference.
Didn't Aries say that the 19th would be a big day? According to the Kaplin video, that's the day of "some presentation." I can only believe that this will concern Revolution, perhaps the revelation of what is so revolutionary about it. The video fades out on Friday before Kaplin can say anything... I think Thursday will be a full unveiling of the hardware and its features, and Friday the software. (or maybe the other way around)
I could be wrong, and blowing everything completely out of context, but there would be no reason for me to believe otherwise when the Kaplin video was uploaded AFTER the MS and Sony press conferences.
For now, we don't know much on Revolution. But I'm certain that we will know much more by the end of E3, including the wonders which Johnny said we'd see.
