What dev would *you* kickstart?

So this thread is basically, 'what game would you want made?'
I would definitely support small studios who barely make a dent in the retail space with niche games. Even if I didn't always like them.

Could I fund hardware too? 'Cause I'd throw money at anyone who would create an enthusiast-grade mech cockpit simulator.

Chris Avellone
Jonathan Mak
Relic
Cave
Treasure
Fumito Ueda
Platinum Games
From Software/Hidetaka Miyazaki
Tetsuya Mizuguchi
Thatgamecompany

SNKPlaymore : GAROU 2 or a new HD Samurai Spirits.

(And some extra bucks for the netcode)

Maybe Valhalla Games if the devils third is a bomba........or maybe platinum games to make a party based action rpg with mikami humor and kamiya quality combat.

I'd donate to Artdink, Tatsuo Nagahama, and Masaki Iizuka for them to create a new A-Train for a global audience, not just for the home country. PROPE also needs more money to get crackin' on some new projects—I'd fund dat.

I am sure many would rather Kickstart a project to stop a Pinkie Pie RPG being made.

They'd just be tricked into increasing the production budget, thus making it the new graphical benchmark which nerds worldwide run to see how fast their machines are.

I wonder how receptive any Japanese developers would be to the idea of Kickstart, or anything like it over in Japan. Given the various business practices and traditions involved in their gaming industry, I'm not so certain they'd be willing to risk something quite like it.

Risk free funds? I don't understand. If you mean there is some kind of shame from working off of handouts that is different. But a kickstart is the opposite of risky.

More regarding industry politics, really. I'm wondering what the reaction to a well-known Japanese developer doing something with a service like Kickstart would be, most notably concerning publisher's thoughts and how other developers would react. They do have a rigid system that seems to be followed by everyone—and while Kickstart is a great idea on principle, Western devs and publishers are more beholden to this concept and constant experimentation with publicity than the Japanese are.

The old Black Isle/Bioware teams. I want a real follow-up of Fallout 2 with an isometric engine as well as a Baldur's Gate III created in the Infinity Engine 2. Or a new Planescape game.

favorite developers thread~~~~

I'd totally pay Cave to line up another arcade STG without all the turbo anime girl stuff.

Shenmue cost like 70 million to make.

On a realistic level I do think some of these really talented devs could end up getting fans to fund a 1 million dollar quirky product. I could actually see this happening a lot in the future.

I would support this if they promised to make it PC only. Sorry, console folks, but I've been burned by Dragon Age - Burned hard.

Depends what they're making. I might love what a select few developers do every time, but I'm probably not going to like a MW clone they throw out.

IGA apparently makes his Castlevania games on negative budgets, so I'd gladly get paid for a new Igavania.

Someone host a Troika family reunion and get them to make a CRPG sequel to Arcanum.

and then Vampire.

Depends on the project really.

If we must go we names only, then i guess Toyama is a god bet, right now.

^^^ Yeah, Team Ico would be a shot in the dark.
