Most people just say "excuse me". All this bless you crap went out on the introduction of political correctness.

I have a friend who actually gets offended- seriously!- if anyone says "Bless you" to her when she sneezes. o_O
As do I, sorta. He just looks at me with a "wtf you say that for" kinda look. No big deal to me, and frankly I love to say religiously toned comments just to piss him off.

I remember when my brother had a really religious room mate who would get on his case about saying bless you or thank god or stuff like that. So he just would occasionally whisper rude things to him to piss him off. My favorite was when he leaned over and said
"Hey Aeron, Jesus sucked my penis"

I swear he almost started to cry... :lol

A person like that would annoy the fuck out of me. Not appreciating a polite gesture, going as far as displaying offense, would really irk me.

When did it become socially unacceptable to fart in public? I never understood that. Farting, like burping, like peeing and pooping is a natural human thing and yet here we are.

"Natura human thing" and "natural human thing in public" are two totally different things.

Well, I think you guys are skewing my point. If people need to go to the bathroom, there's no shame in it. Everyone has to do it. If you burp, but cover your mouth, all is well and again, everyone has to do it. However, if you fart in public, you're considered rude and in some occurrences, cruel. I just find it odd, but I'm interested where that started and why.

I think it depends on the situation for farting in public being Ok, or rude.

For example...

RUDE - If you are sitting down with some friends in the food court at the mall and you lift one cheek and rip a loud fart.

OK - You are in the grocery line and bend over to get that case of bottled water from the lower part of the cart and the lifting strain makes you let one out.

RUDE - You're waiting in line at the theatre and you cut one and laugh with your friends about it.

OK - You are laughing with your friends IN the theatre and let one loose by accident.

Anyway you get the idea...seems like if it is an accident, nobody will care. But when people are doing it with obvious intent, that makes it rude.

Personally I fell the same way about burping...but hey, it's how I was brought up.

I am disgusting when it comes to burping. At home, even my family memebers are disgusted when I let out a "cartoon burp" after drinking some pop or something. :D

I did it at a formal dinner once, and was like, "Oh shit...did I just do that? :lol

Sneezes don't stick, and can't be supressed like (non-accidental) burps and farts can be.
