What do you need physical strength for?

IDKFA

I am Become Bilbo Baggins
I'd get destroyed in Rugby without my muscle mass.

It's also healthy to have a defined muscle mass. I'm not talking something silly like Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1970s, but you want to at least look like a Greek sculpture.

It's also sexy. Ask any woman or gay guy and tell all say they prefer a toned, well defined body over somebody who looks like they'd snap in half during a violent, loud, raw sex session where you fuck like demons. Nobody wants that.

Kids, all sorts of things from lifting my daughter up to dragging their body boards around by the straps in the ocean, throwing them around in the pool.

House projects e.g. maintenance like building sheds, repairing shit on your own, moving furniture, digging trees out.

Wifey likes it when I pick her up or carry her.

If protection/fighting was ever needed I want to be able to hold my own and take care of my family. You are also far less likely to be fucked with if you're a solid dude.

I might as well post this again

I have yet to be impressed by a skinny person lol

I have. those ultramaration runners that run a 100 miles in less than 24 hours is insane. Those iron man competitors as well. Can't hate on endurance athletes they have their place. They seem just as badas$ as those strongman monsters imo. If I were to own a factory where u have to be walking and moving on your feet all day that doesn't require heavy lifting, many small, lightweight dwarf like humans I feel would probably deliver the best output in terms of productivity. They require less sleep and energy/nutrients to maintain optimal health compared to bigger bros.

I've done most of the house/garden maintenance recently because my partner had surgery and isn't allowed to do heavy lifting for a while. I am pretty fit but I am also 5'6 and female. Some things he does easily are next to impossible for me.

Stuff is easier with two people but height, reach and strength make up the difference for us males when soloing home projects.

Good on you for taking care of things too.

I think someone who works out is usually healthier than someone who doesn't. Also there are still plenty of jobs around that require you to lift shit. The robots haven't taken over yet.

Dont wanna get ur as$ beat in a fight either. I mean. If u have a very tight knit group one of y'all can be a musclebound enforcer and one of u can be a nerdy skinny egghead. But lonewolfs need both so they can't maximize their potential on either side they have to be more well rounded.

I worked as a bouncer for many years. Can't count the number if times muscles guys were laid out unconscious. In fact, I can only remember of few instances of them actually winning fights, and narrowly if so.
As someone who carried alot of muscle, you really have to train to fight while you're gaining that muscle or it becomes a huge hindrance.
I laugh because I remember a crew of meatheads that got absolutely wrecked by pretty average looking dudes. They were trying to make all these excuses to us and the ambulance guys about why they lost haha

For one, skeletal muscle atrophy effects can harm metabolical health. Lower body muscle mass is important for mobility. Core strength is also important to avoid injuries. Forearm and arm strength is... not very important, you don't "need" it. Extreme muscle hypertrophy has no positive health effect and just socially signals that you have the time and energy to puff yourself up. Big peacock energy.

p.s. take your d pills

Impact of Skeletal Muscle Mass on Metabolic Health
  • Physical inactivity exerts a catabolic effect in muscle tissue because amino acids lose their ability to stimulate protein synthesis [34]. Furthermore, muscle disuse-induced atrophy involves a decrease in energy consumption that causes increased fat deposition, systemic inflammation, and insulin resistance

Started going to the gym a year ago. Yesterday I was moving the snow tires (on rims) into the car and was shocked how much easier it was this year.

lots of everyday life things were strength helps. One day you may even find a woman who likes Pickles and you can be the jar lid hero

Not really, I know plumbers, electrical workers and construction workers that need a decent amount of strength and skill that make much more money than your regular every day job that use more of your brains .
They need that extra money because they are all broken by 40 years of age. Physical labor jobs are no joke and can crush you fast. Ain't many plumbers laying pipe at 65.

Sure but there are some pretty well off plumbers by the age of 50 or so.

This is a good point, I have a number of friends that are skinny but not healthy. They smoke everyday and down red bulls etc like no ones business. It cracks me up they would be considered healthy on appearances alone.

Yep I have one who's diabetic (tbh I know it's kind of out of their control but just pointing it out anyways) and another one who smokes and recently found out he has high cholesterol levels despite his weight.

Also, some level of strength can prevent injuries from accidents or repetitive daily bullshit especially when older. Thing like falling down or bending over weird or reaching while twisting your body, etc.

Old running mate of mine is either world champion or european champion in his age class - 72+
Coached and assisted him for a 24h where he ran 163km/101,7mi. Fookin stoopid but he wanted it. Won a world cup in Gibraltar in the following years, dunno when.

Free weight training made it so I never fall over or have trouble when overextending my ankles. Hope that keeps up.
